Strivectin-SD Instant Retexturizing Scrub : Gently does it!

April 21, 2011 Paris B 2 Comments

The last facial scrub I really liked was the Kiehl’s Ultimate White one. In fact, that one tube has lasted me till just a couple of months ago when I tossed it! I might have found a replacement in the Strivectin SD Instant Retexturizing Scrub.

You might have noticed that Strivectin-SD has ditched their rather staid clinical look and opted for a more fun packaging with brighter colours. The Strivectin-SD cream for example, is now pink (!). Also, you will notice that right on the tube of product, you will see the expected results. In other words, its alright to lose the box your product comes in (which incidentally is way excessively large, Strivectin!); you can now keep track of your skin’s progress by reading it right on the tube 🙂

I mentioned that I like this facial scrub, and the primary reason is because it feels gentle on my skin yet does a great job. The grains aren’t rough or harsh so it does not unintentionally scratch your skin. Plus of course, the skin does feel lovely after use, as with most facial scrubs 🙂

Here’s what a sample of the scrub looks like.

As you can see, the dollop on the left is how it looks when squeezed out from the tube (its quite solid) and on the right is after I’ve smeared it out a bit. You can also see that the scrubby grains aren’t very large so it does not feel rough or harsh on your skin. It also does not leave my skin feeling dry nor oily after washing my face. You know how that can happen sometimes right?

After scrubbing, my skin feels smooth, as it does with all facial scrubs, and my skin too looks a little brighter. But then it would, after all the dead skin cells have been exfoliated. I use this once or twice a week and I like it for what it is – a gentle facial scrub that does not leave my skin feeling dry.

I do have one comment though. It smells to me of toothpaste. You know that minty smell you associate with toothpaste? This smells like that!

Its very strange. I always feel a little strange putting something that smells of toothpaste on my face. I keep thinking I should be putting it in my mouth 😛

Pros: Gentle exfoliating scrub, Not drying, Only very little is needed each use, Not harsh

Cons: Pricey

Here’s the ingredient list for the Strivectin-SD Instant Retexturizing Facial Scrub for all those who might be interested. Its paraben-free and non comedogenic.

Its pricey for a face scrub but I have absolutely no doubt that a tube will easily last you at least 2 years even with regular use so in the long run, maybe its not that pricey after all 🙂

Might you have tried this one? I don’t know if you can get samples from Strivectin-SD counters but you can always try asking. I do like this, even with the toothpaste smell and all, because my skin seems to be quite happy with it 🙂
