Visionary : The New Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector with LR2412

Any chemistry students in the house? 🙂 I did fairly well at chemistry in school but its been so long now that when confronted with models like this one, my eyes glaze over and I get a brain fart. Wha…?

This ladies (and gents) is the LR 2412 molecule created and patented by Lancome. According to what I read over at Beaut.ie its called LR2412 because it was the Two Thousand Four Hundred and Twelfth attempt at getting it to do what the scientists wanted it to do, which was to get it to penetrate down through the layers of skin to the deepest level – the dermis so it can start its repair work. Entering Biology territory here. Eyes glazing over yet?

I can just imagine the scientists sitting in the lab, in their new white lab coats, excitedly starting Test #1, then Test #2 and then Test #234. Then, looking decidedly rumpled by now in their chemical stained lab coats – Test #2410, #2411 and finally, when Test #2412 delivered the result they were looking for, the whoops of joy in the lab. Now they could go home and have a shower.

Any wonder then, that this took 12 years of research? Tell me. I watch too much TV don’t I? 😛

The result of all this research brings us Lancome’s new skincare serum, Visionnaire Skin Corrector Serum. The serum that was, in the UK delivered to the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and her sister Pippa ahead of everyone else. A serum with a waiting list. The French have most certainly wasted no time building relations with the English Royal family (and sister), I see 😉

Anti-Aging skincare fans, here’s one for you!

The Dermalogica Age Smart range of products isn’t new to the range, but it is newly launched here in Malaysia. The range, as the name implies, is designed to prevent and repair internal and external damage to skin as it ages. What this range targets is the prevention and minimization of the appearance and signs of skin aging.

There is quite a number of products in this range which is pretty much stand-alone. I haven’t tried any of them, but if you are keen, here’s a quick run through of what they key ingredients are, what they do and (importantly) how much it will set you back 😉

Red or white? Hada Labo Lifting + Firming Lotion or Super Hyaluronic Acid Lotion?

I first spotted the Hada Labo red line in one of my regular online shopping jaunts. At the time, I wasn’t too sure what it was so I didn’t pick up anything. By the time it was launched here, I’d learnt that the red Hada Labo line is a line targeted at the skin firming and anti-aging crowd (me!) and that it contains retinol (vitamin A).

I have most of the products from the line, but I really wanted to concentrate on just the Hada Labo Retinol Lifting and Firming Lotion for today. I’ve noticed quite a few questions flying around online about whether one should use the normal Super Hyaluronic Acid Lotion that comes in the white bottle or this Retinol Lifting + Firming Lotion which comes in the red bottle and which is better; and I wanted to address that because I’m nosy and opinionated that way 🙂

First off though, what is retinol? Just very quickly, Retinol is Vitamin A that can assist in accelerating cell turnover by encouraging cell production under the skin. It also has an exfoliating effect to exfoliate the top layer of dead skin cells, to allow the new skin cells to surface. This is what gives the appearance of smoother, softer skin, when used in the long run. But hold that thought on exfoliation yes? EDIT 2017: Retinol does not exfoliate per se. It does help skin turnover and can often be drying. This can result in dry or flaky skin which isn’t necessarily exfoliating.

Dior 21 Night Renewal Serum : The Results

I’m not sure how many of you remember when I asked if the Dior 21 Night Renewal Serum would make me look 21 again. My follow up post thereafter was to tell you that one bottle of the serum lasts close to a month for me. So I ended up taking 3 months to finish one course! Quite worth it I say! 😛

This is a treatment product from Dior Capture Totale so its not something you use often. The recommendation is to use it maybe twice a year and to use the Dior Capture Totale skincare range thereafter to maintain the skin condition.

What I found upon using this “treatment” was yes, firmer and slightly more refined skin. I couldn’t capture it on the camera – its not that obvious, but it so happened I had skin tests before and after this period (not related) and test results after did show firmer more elastic skin that really, belies my actual age. I believe its not just this serum. I take care of my skin and I have genetics to thank as well.

The one thing I noticed off the bat was the skin on my neck. For some reason, I realized that the skin on my neck was feeling a bit “loose”. It was worrying. So, when I started this treatment, I applied it down to my neck. Almost from the first bottle, I saw an improvement.
