Yes that’s pretty pathetic isn’t it 😉
Anyway, when I went away most recently, I took only 1 eyeshadow palette with me. It was the Shiseido Luminizing Satin Trio palette in GD804 Opera. Apparently, this is the most popular and bestselling of all the palettes. I had to find out why.
And I had to see how that strange combination of colours could work!
When I first showed you this palette, I mentioned how concerned I was with the strange combination of pastel blue with the gold and khaki. But I was determined to make it work! (That’s 2 sentences ending with “work”!)
As the Shiseido Makeup line is marketed internationally, the colours are more vibrant and not as sheer, nor as shimmery as Maquillage. However, it still felt like a Japanese eyeshadow to me – shimmery and less pigmented than say, MAC since everyone seems to use MAC as a basis for comparison (I can never fathom why).
But it infinitely feels to be superior in quality because it layers beautifully. Like the satin in the name. If you don’t like Asian style eyeshadow, or if you like very strong pigmented colours, I don’t think you’ll like the Shiseido palettes very much. But if you do, like moi! you’re in for such a treat! I’m going to show you 2 looks I did with this palette, which almost look like they did not come from the same palette!
