Salon Spy: Kanebo International Salon Starhill Gallery

October 28, 2010 Paris B 11 Comments

Time for some pampering! I’m no stranger to the Kanebo International Salon. I’ve been going to the one in Bangsar for years – as does my whole family 🙂

However I’d never tried the services at the more upmarket Starhill Gallery salon. It might interest you to know that the prices of services are the same but the salon is a midge more plush as befits the luxury mall.

I was there to learn about the upcoming Kanebo Impress Gramula premium skincare range and I had a facial too.

The facial treatment started with peach tea and dried apricots as I’m used to at Bangsar. However there is an added bonus of a hot foot soak which does wonders to relax the mind and body.

The facial rooms are plush but a little smaller than the ones in Bangsar. Walls and doors too seem thinner as I could hear voices from those in the reception area and next door. Muted under the music but it was there.

I did fall asleep during my treatment so it couldn’t have been that bad 🙂 It turned out that one of my regular facialists was there and she did my facial and neck and shoulder massage so I was quite used to her touch. I can’t say therefore if the other girls are as good.

The plus points of the Starhill salon is the ample parking in the mall and the ease of public transport getting to it (Bukit Bintang Monorail or cabs). I also liked the additional foot soak and there are more treatment rooms for facials and body treatments so its easier to get a time slot.

As I’ve been going to the salon in Bangsar for years now, I don’t see myself moving to the one in Starhill. The girls at Bangsar know me, they know what I like and what doesn’t work and its just more familiar there.

However if you are visiting KL or work in the city centre and want a relaxing facial that isn’t too pricey, and in a lovely salon with little or no hardsell (based on my experiences), try the Kanebo International Salon at Starhill Gallery. I get nothing out of this but you might just find a new salon you like or at least enjoy a relaxing facial 🙂

After reading your previous review on the Bangsar one, I tried out the Starhill branch, and immediately fell in love with it. I love the atmosphere, and most importantly, no hard-sell what-so-ever at all.

Now I’m a regular at Starhill Kanebo! =D It’s now a must for me to visit them whenever I’m in KL. (I’m not from KL by the way) So it’s like a pampering session for me whenever I’m on holiday at KL. =)

I remember you emailing me about the salon and I’m so happy you enjoy your experiences there! It is certainly refreshing to visit a salon and not have staff try their hardest to make you part with large sums of money. Plus the ambiance is great isn’t it? I always feel immediately relaxed when I step in 🙂

Yay! You’re right – the service is top notch considering the prices don’t quite burn a hole in the pocket 😀
