5 Things I Love Vol. 10: Doggone it! We’re halfway through the year!

June 30, 2020 Paris B 3 Comments

Well, that’s half of 2020 gone by in a flash! How has it been for you?

3 of those months were spent staying indoors, and keeping away from crowds. Maybe even rediscovering ourselves and our priorities. We aren’t out of the woods yet, however, although I see a great relaxing of activities in the community.

I’ve also had a few people tell me that they’ve lost their jobs, whether directly or indirectly caused by this pandemic, or by companies taking advantage of the pandemic to cut jobs, and that makes me feel sad. It must be a very challenging time, and I hope that you will stay strong, all of you. As trite as it sounds, the saying that, when God closes a door, He opens a window, is true. Look out for that window 🙂

As for me, I have been busy, especially in this past month. Some of you may have noticed a little lapse in my social media updates, but it is not without reason! 😉

So, here we are, at the end of June 2020, and here are 5 Things I Love, that I share every month 🙂 Tell me yours!

Don’t be so sensitive! Let the Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream step in to calm redness and moisturize your skin

June 26, 2020 Paris B 3 Comments

When the offer was made for me to try the new Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream ahead of its launch, I had no hesitation to accept!

While I’m not your biggest fan of Korean skincare products, there are 2 brands I will pause and try. The first is Sulwhasoo, and the second, is Mamonde. Both, spanning different ends of the price spectrum, but both have generally worked well for me 🙂

I’d not had much luck with their creams before this, always feeling like they’re too light. But this one was different. This one is something I’m happy to keep using! 🙂

YOUR SAY: Are you still excited about new makeup launches?

June 23, 2020 Paris B 4 Comments

To be honest, I have not kept up with the new releases in the makeup and beauty world of late.

I have many things going on in other aspects of my life, and keeping up with the fast-paced beauty scene has fallen by the wayside.

exciting makeup

To say I’m not excited about new launches isn’t quite true. I am still interested, but that’s rather different from being excited.

Time was, I would keep myself in the loop and invested in upcoming new launches. I knew just what was coming from which brand, and which to hype, and which to ignore.

But much has changed in the 13.5 years I’ve been blogging.

Are expensive hair combs worth it? A fine tooth comb through a hairy subject

June 19, 2020 Paris B 7 Comments

If there’s one thing I’ve never had to worry about for coming on 8 years now, it’s owning a comb. I don’t comb my hair. I haven’t, for many, many years.

I’m quite lucky that I not only have short hair, but fairly obedient hair that falls into place quickly once I run my fingers through it. It’s my, if you would pardon the cliche, crowning glory 😀

But everything changed when the pandemic hit, and hairdressers were shut, before I could go for my monthly trim. Suddenly, my hair was growing out of control. I haven’t cut my hair for almost 4 months!

expensive comb worth it

Some time while locked-down, MCO Mate unearthed an old comb of his, because I didn’t have one. “And you’re the beauty blogger!” he chided 😛

My reaction when I saw it, was disbelief. “You actually bought an Acca Kappa comb?!” I cried. MCO Mate isn’t given to luxury spending, hence my disbelief 😛

Acca Kappa, for the uninitiated, is an Italian brand of personal grooming products with a long lineage, and as combs and hair brushes go, is pretty expensive. The Fine Tooth Comb here for example, retails at about €23.50, which is something I’d never have paid for a comb.

So I had a little laugh, and I ribbed him about it, but one day, after washing my hair, I decided to try it. What did I have to lose?! 😛
