When the offer was made for me to try the new Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream ahead of its launch, I had no hesitation to accept!

While I’m not your biggest fan of Korean skincare products, there are 2 brands I will pause and try. The first is Sulwhasoo, and the second, is Mamonde. Both, spanning different ends of the price spectrum, but both have generally worked well for me 🙂
I’d not had much luck with their creams before this, always feeling like they’re too light. But this one was different. This one is something I’m happy to keep using! 🙂
Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream
The Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream is targeted at those with sensitive skin, that has a tendency to get irritated and turn red. Skin that is sensitive can often feel dry when it’s irritated, so it also targets drier skin types.
The key ingredient, as the name implies, is the extract of Blue Chamomile, which contains azulene. Azulene is an ingredient often used to reduce inflammation in skin tissue, thereby soothing skin and reducing redness in skin. Azulene contains a chemical that inhibits the actions of the immune system, thereby reducing redness and swelling.
The soothing, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of azulene is what the Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream leverages on, in quickly soothing any redness, and calming any skin sensitivity.
It is also formulated with 5 types of hyaluronic acid, which maximizes moisture absorption, and hydrating and cooling down the skin.
While I do not generally have sensitive skin or skin sensitivity, I do have dry skin. So, this was a cream I was curious about.

Gel-cream texture is lightweight but moisturizing
The Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream comes in a tube, with a nozzle dispenser. It doesn’t look very large, but is your usual 50ml tube. The packaging looks sleek, eye catching, and is hygienic.
The texture is that of a gel-cream. Not too rich or heavy, as with most creams I use, but not so light that it disappears onto the skin. It is very comfortable on my dry skin, although I’m not sure how oily/combination skin types will fare with this. By my reckoning, it should feel comfortable, but there might be some that might consider this a little too heavy.
The colour of the cream is a very pale blue, which I take is derived from the blue chamomile extract (which is blue), as there is no colourants listed in the ingredients list.
To my untrained eye, the ingredients list looks like list of fairly decent soothing, moisturizing ingredients. However, I will not delve into it, as it’s not how I go about trying skincare. I go by how it feels on my skin, and how I take to it.
Incidentally, I took to it very well!
Moisturizing even for dry skin
I have dry skin, and it was a concern for me if the Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream might be moisturizing enough for me. The first time I used it, I over-compensated by squeezing out a generous portion.
I soon realized that I didn’t need very much more than my usual amount, which I apply using the 13 dot technique. It covers my face and neck easily and comfortably, and importantly, is enough.
My skin feels comfortable even at night (I always use a facial oil at night), and it’s comfortable in the day, without making my skin greasy or oily.

Keeps my skin calm
While I don’t have skin sensitivity in the normal sense, I do lead quite an active outdoor lifestyle these days. I am out of the house in the morning to walk my dog (1 hour at least, while he sniffs around – and that’s if I’m hurrying him! LOL!) and by the time I’m done, the sun is up, and it’s hot.
When I get back and have my shower, I have noticed that when I reapply my skincare after that, any redness I might experience in my skin due to flushing from the sun, or irritation from sweat, is quickly reduced.
It isn’t very noticeable, and I can’t document it, as it is very subtle (I wear copious amounts of sunscreen after all) but on areas like my neck or chest, which might be a little more exposed, I do notice that applying the Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream on the area helps to calm it down.

By all reckoning, I do find that this cream is gentle and comfortable. It is moisturizing and hydrating, yet lightweight, which is comfortable in our hot, humid climate.
For me, this is enough. That it helps reduce redness in my skin caused my heat is a bonus 🙂
IN A NUTSHELL
The Mamonde Blue Chamomile Soothing Repair Cream is a lightweight gel-cream moisturizer with a pale blue tint. It absorbs quickly into the skin, and feels comfortable and moisturizing on my dry skin, even for night use (over a facial oil). I like the portable and easy to use tube packaging, and the bright colour, which makes it stand out from other Mamonde products. As for its claims to soothe the skin from temporary sensitivity, my experience is with that of mild flushing due to heat from the sun. The cream does seem to reduce this redness quite quickly, and my skin feels comfortable and comforted. All in all, a pretty decent moisturizer that ticks most boxes. If you are looking for an anti-aging product, this isn’t it. But as a general moisturizer, it fits the bill.

Does your skin get irritated easily?
Mine doesn’t, thank goodness! But now that I’m not staying indoors as much as I have in the past 3 months, the pigmentation spots have returned! Haha, win some, lose some 😛

I saw this on Hermo when it released! But I didn’t dare to pick it up until I could find more reviews, since Klairs Blue Cream didn’t do anything for me in terms of moisturising. Heaven knows I’ve been trying to par the routine down for ages. Thanks for the review Paris!
It’s cool that you guys have Mamonde in the Watsons. Our Mamonde counters pulled out before covid so I guess they were doing well. I’ll probably look online for this to try out ?
I decided to pick this up after reading your post and seeing it on sale on Althea, and it is very lovely on irritated skin! Strangely though the one I got was in a heavy glass tub, but the ingredients seem to be all the same. Glad that you wrote about this product!
