The Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Water was a new addition to the ginseng range some time last year. I was so intrigued when I first saw it, that I had to get myself a bottle right away!

First though, calling this a ‘water’ is a bit confusing. Most of us know what water looks and feels like – clear and liquid. But this isn’t.

The Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Water is thick, viscous and slightly opaque. It does not bring to mind the idea of ‘water’ whatsoever! I’d call this a lotion or essence, if I had to find a word for it.

But what it really is, is a toner. A RM300/US$80 bottle of hydrating toner. It better jolly well be worth it!

I have said that I do not want to be that blogger who pushes gift guides in your face. But I suppose I do, once a year, come the Lunar (Chinese) New Year.

However, it’s not conventionally a gift guide per se, as we don’t usually practice gifting of this nature at this time of year. So, it’s not a guide on what you can buy for others. Instead, it’s a gift guide for yourself – an idea on what beauty related items you could save your “ang pow” (lucky red packet) money to treat yourself 😀

That’s really the best part about the Chinese New Year isn’t it? Sure, it can feel like a hassle sometimes, and we are always pressed to look our best during the festivities, but “ang pow” makes everything a wee bit better. Those of us receiving it anyway! LOL! 😀 I know many people who read this are now at the giving end, rather than the receiving end, but there are always little windfalls that come by now and again – so consider this your “gift guide” to yourself 😉

On some days, a very affordable moisturiser seals the deal for me. On other days, I head right to the other end of the price scale, and whack on something eye-wateringly expensive. It’s just how I roll.

And that was when I realised that I’d never ever once mentioned nor reviewed the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream EX. How remiss of me!

Most regular readers will know that I’m not big on Korean skincare. While I know the Korean wave is still strong, I struggle to find a K-beauty brand or product to love wholeheartedly. That was until I met Sulwhasoo a few years ago. Since then, I’ve tried a few products from the brand, both in full size and in sample form.

I don’t make it a secret the fact that the only Korean brand I have been able to use and more importantly, notice results from, is Sulwhasoo. My skin has reacted well to most products I’ve tried from the brand (especially the Overnight Revitalizing Mask), and each time I try something new, I cry a little inside, because I know my skin will like it, and then my wallet will die 😛

It is also no secret that Sulwhasoo is a luxury brand of skincare. There are different tiers within the brand (and I can tell you that the basic Essential range – white body, yellow caps – is quite good to start with), but in the main, it strikes a heavy blow to your wallet, so I will understand if you sigh a little.

I’d come across many raves for the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Cream EX before this, and one day, I scored a little sample pot, which I guarded with my life. When I finished it, I knew I was in trouble. I wanted the full sized tub! Sigh…

Truth to tell, I was going to show you a product I’m really enjoying right now. I had taken my photos and they were fancy ass! But I’ve only just gone and lost my SD-card with those photos and all my recent holiday photos in it! It’s only the latest in a series of misfortunes to have befallen me in recent times, so at this stage, I’m just sort of numb and immune to all this #prayforPB

Instead, I’ll share a quick short about some products from Sulwhasoo I’ve come across recently, that have intrigued me.

Sitting at the pinnacle of this premium brand is the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng line. The most famous product is their Sulwhasoo Concentrated Renewing Ginseng Cream which I’ve used and enjoy using (but which I’ve neglected to tell you about! I’ll remedy that soon) This year, Sulwhasoo has expanded this line with a few products, one of which I am quite excited about! See if you can guess which 😀
