Orange you glad I found a stablized Vitamin C serum in the Hylamide C25 Booster?

May 13, 2016 Paris B 29 Comments

When I decided to delve into the world of Hylamide, it was because of the SubQ Anti-Age serum that was so highly raved. Personally though, I didn’t notice significant enough results to join in the raves, even though I do think that it’s a decent product.

When I made my order though, I wanted to get something else – since I was shipping the serum all the way from Canada, I might as well ship something else along with it! And that something was the Hylamide C25 Booster Stabilized Vitamin C Booster serum.

I didn’t come across many reviews for it at the time. Perhaps it was new (about 6 months back or so) but I was curious, as I’d just been told by a friend about how effective using vitamin c had been for brightening and clarifying her complexion. The thing about Vitamin C though, is that it is quite unstable, so oxidises quite quickly, nullifying it’s antioxidant properties.

This Hylamide C25 Booster however, claimed to be a stabilized version of a vitamin C, which allows them to package it into a clear bottle (most products that contain vitamin c come in brown/dark bottles), and to not oxidise, therefore keeping it effective. The key ingredient here is 25% Etyhyl Ascorbic Acid that’s stabilized, and the ingredient list that you’ll see below is impressively short!

Above all, I think this an excellent product, and in the big scheme of serums, it’s not wallet-bustingly expensive! 🙂

Your Say: Is it vain and superficial to enjoy wearing makeup?

May 11, 2016 Paris B 49 Comments

The reason this question popped into my head recently, is because I was listening to a talk show on the radio, where a question was thrown out about women who wear makeup. It surprised me that the responses were mostly negative, from both men and women!!

no makeup makeup look

Wait a minute, I thought, it’s 2016 not 1916 – why were people coming on air to say that wearing makeup is fake or superficial or just vain? The most common comment was that it was deceptive, because the woman was hiding something behind a mask of cosmetics, and an empowered woman shouldn’t be. Gosh, that threw me for a loop! What say you?

4 Tips to get the most out of the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint

May 9, 2016 Paris B 8 Comments

I must say that I rather like when a product calls itself a “skin tint”. That way, expectations are lowered. It’s just a tint after all. Tints are light and sheer and not expected to offer a lot of coverage. Often, they don’t.

So, I wasn’t expecting very much from the new NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint. There were a couple of reasons this was so.

First, the skin tint element. I like a light and sheer base which is useful for lazy and off-days, but if it’s too sheer, then, I don’t really see the point.

Secondly, the name “Velvet Matte” made me pause. I usually shy away from anything that proclaims itself to be matte on skin. This is because any product claiming to be matte and to give a matte effect is often drying on skin, or sucks out moisture from skin like a moisture-sucking vampire.

When I asked if this might be drying, I was told quite honestly by the brand that it could be, if you have dry skin and/or your skin has dry, flaky patches. But you can get around it by using a moisturising primer. Naturally therefore, I wanted to know if it might work for me, as I have slightly drier skin, and I hate using primer – too lazy for that extra step that I rarely find any use for LOL! 😀

So, with all these misgivings coursing through my mind, how did I like this?

With the Yves Rocher Radiance Rinsing Vinegar and Low ShamPoo you might change the way you wash your hair

May 6, 2016 Paris B 6 Comments

I’m not very fussy about what I put on my hair, to be honest. I never have been. Yes, I like my luxury Kerastase and Sachajuan products, but I’m just as happy with something affordable like Pantene. I wash my hair daily, and I keep it short, so really, nothing fazes me, nor my hair LOL!

But one day, I received a package that promised me that the contents would change the way I wash my hair. Now, this is really how marketing should be done – it intrigued me and made me want to rip it open to see what was inside!

What was inside, were 2 very interesting items from affordable French brand, Yves Rocher. They were the Low ShamPoo Delicate Cleansing Cream and the Radiance Rinsing Vinegar. I’d heard of neither before this so naturally, I was quite intrigued!

Yves Rocher is a very affordable French brand of personal beauty products that I feel is quite underrated. So underrated that even I tend to overlook them! The primary reason is because locally, the brand isn’t very obvious. It isn’t sold in pharmacies and their counters and stores are a little obscure. Pity, because they sell good stuff – I just have to remember to look for them! I did just learn that they’re now available online, so perhaps I shall be paying them a little more attention! I love how quickly online shopping is picking up here – I can be a hermit now and just have everything delivered! LOL! 😀

But even hermits must wash their hair (or maybe not!) so onto these 2 interesting products 😀
