Exploring the world of matte liquid lipstick with the super affordable Silkygirl Matte Junkie Lip Cream

May 30, 2016 Paris B 16 Comments

If a hollow under a rock has been your abode for the past few months, as it has been mine, then you may not have realised that matte liquid lipsticks are all the rage right now. These aren’t new in the makeup world, to be honest, but they have been made popular again by a certain reality TV celebrity whose claim to fame I know not what (the Kylie who isn’t a Minogue) and some affordable makeup brands, of which I can name Colourpop as one of them but nothing much else.

Personally, I’m not into matte lipsticks at the best of times. I lived through the era when matte lipstick meant dry and drying textures, dull but opaque colours, and the lipstick of choice of old ladies. So, I have always been about shine and gloss – it turns back the clock.

Yet, young kids these days have been clamouring after these matte, liquid lipsticks and I have resisted. I don’t even like liquid lipstick, much less matte textured ones! LOL! 😀 But if there’s one thing these matte liquid lipsticks have in common, it’s that they are opaque and longlasting and therein lies the appeal. So, with all the rah-rahing online, I started getting curious. Never underestimate the power of social media! 😛

I was loathe to pay a lot of money for something I knew I wouldn’t love. So, one day, when I was at a loose end and found myself trawling the local pharmacy, I stumbled across the Silkygirl Matte Junkie Lip Cream and curiosity got the better of me.

NEW! Caudalie Vinosource quenches and hydrates skin to the pink of its health

May 27, 2016 Paris B 11 Comments

Caudalie has been looking pretty in pink these days, with the new repackaging of their popular Vinosource range of products. Vinosource, if you’re not as familiar with the brand, is the hydration range. This is infused with their signature grape water for hydration, and polyphenols extracted from grape seeds for an antioxidant effect.

While previously packaged in a rather uniform white and maroon packaging, Caudalie has recently repackaged their signature creams, to make it easier to identify what you need for your skin – also looks a lot more attractive, if you ask me!

Quite many years ago, when I was first experimenting with the brand, I dabbled a little in the Vinosource range. For me, I consider this one the “starter range” for those new to Caudalie, as it is the most basic for most skin types. After all, all of us could do with a little more skin hydration!

Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm claims to be the best cleanser you’ll ever use! Is it?

May 26, 2016 Paris B 26 Comments

The problem right, when you start getting into anything, be it makeup or skincare, you start developing an unhealthy interest in items that you can’t actually get in local stores. I tend to follow many bloggers from the UK for some reason, and it’s a whole new world of brands and products there that I’m not sure I’ll ever see here.

Enter then, online shopping – praise the online shopping Gods!

And that’s how I ended up lusting over and eventually purchasing the very highly raved Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm without ever having seen or tried it in person. A quick search online will throw up multiple glowing reviews from many high-profile bloggers, some of whom know their stuff. Which is why I got suckered in even deeper!

Omorovicza is a Hungarian brand of luxury skincare hailing from Budapest (that’s a city I hope to visit some day!) It utilizes Hungary’s thermal waters in their fairly extensive product range. The thermal waters contain minerals that heal and rejuvenate skin, and there’s even a spa built on the site of this thermal spring. The Thermal Cleansing Balm is one of their popular products, and as I’m an avid user of cleansing balm, I just had to try it.

A few months of use and half a tub later… I’m afraid I’m going to be that spoilsport and say “Meh… let’s move on!”

Your Say: Will you use these NSFW-shaped Lipsticks?

May 24, 2016 Paris B 32 Comments

We were talking about creamy lipsticks yesterday, when I stumbled upon some very erm… interesting news online that naturally had me thinking.

You see, there’s this whole range of NSFW penis-shaped lipsticks making their rounds online, that has people giggling naughtily behind their hands as they surreptitiously click on the links to see what the fuss is about.

This placeholder picture is Jennifer Lawrence for Dior Addict lipsticks – those are perfectly safe for public consumption and perfectly safe for work!

These things aren’t new. I came across them a few years back, where people were also giggling naughtily behind their hands as they surreptitiously click on the links to see what the fuss is about. Some things never change LOL! But then, I got to wondering. Look, it’s a lipstick. It’s cosmetics. Would you use these?

Before you proceed, please note that the following images are NSFW (Not Safe For Work) under any circumstances, unless you work in a sex shop or have a very liberal office. So, be warned and don’t come and cry to me if your boss catches you. But if you have your own office, make sure no one catches you grinning or they might want to see what it’s about too! Now, onwards and let’s have your say! 😉
