Kiehl’s 160th Anniversary : Limited Edition New York Heritage Collection

August 23, 2011 Paris B 24 Comments

Kiehl’s, to give it its full honorific is Kiehl’s Since 1851 and when you do your math, that makes them 160 years old this year. Before it became a worldwide phenomenon, Kiehl’s started out as a little apothecary (pharmacy) in the East Village of New York, giving personalized service to their customers.

To celebrate 160 years in existence, from a little pharmacy to having stores and counters worldwide, Kiehl’s has packaged four of its historical formulas which are customer favourites, in elegant limited edition black and gold packaging. Interestingly, out of the 4, I have only ever tried one – the Ultra Facial Cream and even then, I prefer the new Oil Free Ultra Facial Gel Cream 🙂 Still, here are some details on this items.

Your Say: Do You Wash Your Hair Everyday?

August 23, 2011 Paris B 79 Comments

wash hair everyday

There are 2 schools of thought about hair washing.

The first school of thought says you should wash your hair everyday, especially if you are like me and live in a hot and humid climate. The scalp gets oily and if you live in a polluted area e.g. cities, then it could feel worse. So washing your hair at the end of the day gets rid of the oil and dirt on your scalp and therefore results in a healthier scalp.

The second school of thought says you shouldn’t wash your hair everyday, because that can lead to your scalp drying out, a flaky scalp, excessive oiliness and hair loss.

Which school of thought do you belong to?

Come Fly With Me! And Pick Up A Les Tendres De Chanel Les Roses Highlighter Blush On The Way

August 22, 2011 Paris B 40 Comments

With the festive period* now at full speed ahead almost upon us, it is probably opportune that I (finally) tell you about the Les Tendres de Chanel Les Roses blush which is a travel exclusive item, since some of you might be travelling. I purchased this on board Malaysian Airlines where I saw it labelled as “Flight Exclusive” and I have not even see it at the duty free stores. I’m not sure if other airlines also carry it.

Here it is in all its unsullied glory! The Les Tendres de Chanel Natural Finish Face Highlighter and Blush in Les Roses. As the ridiculously long name implies, this is both a face highlighter and blush. It in fact looks very similar to what Chanel was offering for the Summer collection – Soleil Tan something something… (which I passed on for being too dark). The difference is that instead of a bronzer-blush, this is a highlight-blush.

The blush colours are the two lower shades – a rose and a browned rose, and the highlighter shades are a light pink and a white. It isn’t shimmery and it is all very sheer. VERY sheer. But glowy.

Reconsidering the Miss Dior Flap Bag : Erasing Prejudices

August 21, 2011 Paris B 38 Comments

A few weeks ago, I came across this gorgeous Dior ad featuring the beautiful Marion Cotillard. Knowing me and my celebrity blindness, I have no idea who Marion Cotillard is except as the face of Dior for their bags. I believe she may be an actress.

The imagery for the Lady Dior before was more dramatic (see the Lady Grey version), but I loved this pensive, ethereal look of this particular shot (and I also love her coat!). Naturally, being the bagaholic that I am, my eye was irresistably drawn to the bag she was holding – the Miss Dior.

My first reaction was “Why is Dior copying Chanel? It looks just like the Chanel Classic Flap!” and you know what they say about first impressions. It counts. So I continued with my prejudices. But for some reason, I’ve been taking 2nd and 3rd looks at it, and really, I don’t think its all that bad.

Uh oh.
