Dior Gris Montaigne nail polish for a touch of Lady Grey

February 7, 2011 Paris B 17 Comments

I have to confess that I have a small obsession with the Lady Dior in Lady Grey. I always had a thing for the Lady Dior bag but whenever I see it in that cool grey leather (which is limited edition I might add), my heart goes pit-a-pat. Ah c’est bonne!

The budget and practicality does not allow for me to indulge in the Lady Dior for now, so what’s the next best thing? Wearing the colour on my nails. Hah! Yes I’m not one for nail polish as you all know by now.

The crappy application shows it too 🙁

This is Dior’s Gris Montaigne nail polish and it is a colour that seems to have set hearts aflutter worldwide. It is named for the Dior store at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris but the colour is a medium grey. I’d call it a steel grey even.

I never quite associated the colour grey with Paris. London, sure! But not Paris. Its also darker than the grey of the Lady Grey Lady Dior so it isn’t quite a substitute 😉

That said, I wore it for a few days and I found myself liking the warm steely colour. It does exude a cool chic look to your nails – not as stark as black, yet not a girly and flirty pink or a strong red. Its a chic understated nail and I like chic and understated looks 🙂

I must show you the brush. It surprised me because its a flat brush with a tapered tip that does make it a tiny bit easier to apply nail polish. However, I’m still not very good at it so it isn’t very even as you can see. However, its not streaky which is testament to quality I guess. I applied 2 coats which gives a good opaque look and a nice glossy surface despite not applying a topcoat. I could do better, I realise but this is about as good a representation of colour as you’d get 😛

Pros: Nice glossy surface without a topcoat, 2 coats give a nice opaque look

Cons: Pricey

Oh I found a way to finally dry my nails in super quick time. I set my hair dryer to cool and low speed and run it over my nails for a few minutes. Tada! Nail polish was dry and I could sleep! 😀

Its a nice ladylike nail polish and I will use it from time to time because it does not have a very strong nail polish smell. That said, nail polish still isn’t quite my thing. Now the Lady Dior in Lady Grey is ah… definitely my thing! 😉

The grey Lady Dior is so dreamy! I’m not usually interested in Dior’s handbags, but that one might just make me change my mind. I love the color! 🙂

The nail polish looks fab! Might check it out the next chance I get.

Worth taking a look 😉 I do find that some of these more expensive brands tend to have more unique shades but no harm looking for a dupe 😉

I also found it easier to fake a poor application than a bright colour LOL! 😉
