Archives for December 2010

Thank you for an amazing 2010 : A Year in Review

December 31, 2010 Paris B 25 Comments

2010 has been a momentous year for me. So much has happened both on the blog and in real life for which I am oh so thankful for. On the blog front, we’re picking up some news from new brands and seeing lots of new “faces” in the comments and I love that! More commentators = more ideas and more views and we all need variety in life 😀 Come by and say Hi more often yes? I love it when you visit 🙂

On the personal front, I spent the final quarter of 2010 being bitten by the travel bug where I took the opportunity to travel far and wide and to spend some quality time with my family away from the maddening crowd. (At least I kept one New Year’s Resolution!) I also burnt a giant hole in my wallet I’m still trying to patch LOL! I don’t know what next year will bring, but I know its gonna be good 😀

thank you!

As a thank you to all of you who have come by to read and most importantly, interact with me and everyone else on MWS and help build our little community, I’m rounding up the year with YOUR favourites from each month (based on comment count) 🙂

Ready? Here we go!

Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Light-Weight Body Lotion – a dry skin saviour!

December 30, 2010 Paris B 8 Comments

Kiehl’s and fans of Kiehl’s rave about their Creme de Corps body lotion. But I tested it a few times with samples and in store and I found it too thick and too oily for our tropical weather. I’m already lazy when it comes to applying body lotion and to have one stick and slip and slide all over is no-go.

review kiehl's creme de corps lightweight body lotion

When I was in London a few months ago, I found my skin drying out. It was horrible! I had all this flaky scaly skin on my arms and legs due to the cold and it being covered up all day. So in a fit of pique, I ran out and picked up the first body lotion I saw – it was at a Kiehl’s store. Picked up the Creme de Corps Lightweight Body Lotion because I liked the feel and because I knew I’d still be able to use it when I’m back.

And I was right. I’m back and about a quarter of the way through my bottle now and still loving it. It is light and absorbs into my skin very quickly without feeling icky or sticky. There is a very light powdery scent which is pleasant and it helps keep my arms and legs flake-free and smooth and soft.

Kanebo Impress Granmula : Luxury skincare for deep pockets

December 30, 2010 Paris B 31 Comments

Ladies! Welcome to Casa MWS!

Let us pretend for one moment that we have deep pockets and are Ladies who Lunch. A little bit of fantasy is a good thing at this time of year 😉

review kanebo granmula skincare

Will you put on your pretty frocks and pick up your Birkins and Kellys and join me in the garden where we’ll have the liveried butler of Casa MWS pour us tea? Don’t worry, we’ll have umbrellas and tents and all sorts of creature comforts in this little fantasy wonderland 😉

Now while we wait for the tea to be brewed and poured into the Wedgwood gold edged bone china tea cups, I’ll tell you about the newest most expensive luxury skincare cream. Ever.

James (thats our butler) will bring around the new Kanebo Impress Granmula skincare range, comprising the Lotion, Emulsion and Cream which target lines and uneven skintone i.e. anti-aging and whitening/brightening concerns.

Size does not always matter : Coffret D’or Dual Beauty Blush 03 Fresh Red

December 29, 2010 Paris B 29 Comments

I got this blush a while ago and although I showed you some photos, I never got round to telling you if I like it or what I think of it. So, better later than never! 😀

review coffret d'or dual beauty blush red photos swatches

The Coffret D’or Dual Beauty Blush came out in Summer 2010 and I don’t think its Limited Edition. I do still see it sold at the Kanebo counters but I never got round to finding out its price. So if you do know, please holler!

I have quite a few blushes, but I find myself going back to this one time and again for fuss free, no mistake looks. This is because the colour is rather on the sheer side. I like that because it allows the colour to be built up if necessary. If you like strong pigmented colours, you will not like it. I’ve got the swatches below.

There’s another reason I love this blush. Its so tiny and so slim, it is perfect for travel! I’ve shown you that its only about 7cm long and its really slim. Something like 0.5cm? The cover is a shiny silver and it looks like a little mini iGadget! 😀

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
Thanks for the gift @tnsskinlab and I must apologise for my tardiness 😩 I’ll learn to cope better from next week!
Now I have to scuttle and write my year end musings. Some traditions must be kept! 😜
Tell me your fave Antipdoes skincare product!

It’s my first year doing retail and honestly, I’d never been so busy! The year-end rush is unreal! But busy is good, right? At least that’s what I tell myself 😂
While I pack up gift boxes of treats for doggies 🐶 (I’ve tied so many ribbons I’ve finally started to get it right!) #loccitanemalaysia makes it easy to shop for humans 😅 at experienceloccitane.com with their L’Occitane en Demande service. Place your order, and pick up in store or have it delivered.
Had a bit of breather today and put together a little video. Blink and miss my little monster 🐶 helping me shop! Not sponsored but I did receive a gift from L’Occitane, for which my sun-exposed, dry dog-walking skin thanks you!
Haven’t done any Christmas shopping this year. It has only just struck me that it’s but mere days away! 😨 Have you done yours?
