I got this blush a while ago and although I showed you some photos, I never got round to telling you if I like it or what I think of it. So, better later than never! 😀
The Coffret D’or Dual Beauty Blush came out in Summer 2010 and I don’t think its Limited Edition. I do still see it sold at the Kanebo counters but I never got round to finding out its price. So if you do know, please holler!
I have quite a few blushes, but I find myself going back to this one time and again for fuss free, no mistake looks. This is because the colour is rather on the sheer side. I like that because it allows the colour to be built up if necessary. If you like strong pigmented colours, you will not like it. I’ve got the swatches below.
There’s another reason I love this blush. Its so tiny and so slim, it is perfect for travel! I’ve shown you that its only about 7cm long and its really slim. Something like 0.5cm? The cover is a shiny silver and it looks like a little mini iGadget! 😀
There are 3 colours available – 01 (sweet pink), 02 (natural orange) and 03 (fresh red). Mine is 03 Fresh Red but as you can see, although it says “red” its hardly that. Nothing scary and no potential clown cheeks here.
The colour is in fact, a peachy shade which can easily suit most skin tones. Kathi of Lotuspalace has a swatch of the pink one which I thought was a bit too kawaii for me. I’m glad I went with the red one. Its quite perfect for an everyday cheek and when I travel, it brightens up my face and makes me look awake and alive – 2 things I never quite feel especially if its for work 😛
As you see, the colours are very light and sheer. I usually just swirl my brush over the 2 colours and apply on my cheeks. The highlight shade is very sheer and not crazy shimmery, but I like it around my eye area because it makes the cheek colour pop, and helps reduce the appearance of dark circles.
You can layer it on for more colour of course. Its buildable without looking chalky or masky and unless you pile on something like 10 layers, you won’t look like a chinese opera singer.
The drawback to this one would be the lack of a brush. It does not bother me because I never use the brushes included in the package, but it might bother those who do. Then again, if they had included a brush, the case would have been thicker and less cute 😛
I don’t think its very expensive. It should retail for under RM100 in Malaysia. At least I hope so.
Pros: Sheer and buildable colour, Colour will suit most skintones except the very dark, Slim portable package
Cons: Sheer colour may not suit some, No applicator included
I’ve tested out the 01 (pink) and 02 (orange) at the counter but neither colour calls to me to get it. As I have noted, the pink one is a bright true pink which is very cute but I can’t quite pull off cute very well 😛 The orange isn’t as scary as it sounds. On tanned or warm skintones it will look amazing. On my skin it just looks a bit … orange.
Coffret D’or isn’t a very exciting brand for many, but I love my Japanese brands too and I quite like some things from this brand, and I do think these blushes are worth checking out 😀 Have you tried them before or perhaps you also own them and have thoughts on them?

Thanks Jenn! 😀 I think the latest skincare regime I’m using is working very well for me 😀 It really is a very pretty blush and I love how subtle the highlighter is 😀

Hanny says
Pretty!! But ima giving this a pass. Have too many blushes for a beginner! ^.^
ParisB says
haha! “too many blushes” isn’t quite a phrase in my vocab, sadly 😛

Sho sweet! Funny how they call it Fresh Red tho… it looks very pinky to me. 🙂
ParisB says
Japanese. Go figure! LOL Its actually peachier but I guess compared to the pink and orange one, its significantly redder in hue 🙂

Your skin looks so glowy and nice and feels like “toink toink” too!
Is it the Dior serum working its wonder?? Do share!
The blusher looks great on you too. Sheer is good, so can layer up and built up color intensity! 😉
ParisB says
You can see the difference in the skin huh? I’ve actually noticed that too recently. I’m going to attribute it to a few things – 1) the Dior serum 2) Dior night cream mixed with a drop of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery concentrate and 3) Guerlain lingerie foundation. I can’t place my finger on it yet but its only in this week that its looking this way and that’s when I started using this concoction!

Very glowy in the natural sense. This is why I do come back to Japanese products again and again. They are able to come up with useful products that don’t scream loudly yet impart a little something extra in style. My latest acquisition is the lunasol Xmas coffret set’s blusher. Very much idiot proof too. And imparts a beautiful cool toned, wintery glow. Coffret dor has pulled out of Singapore to my regrets. But luckily it’s still quite easily available in Asia.
ParisB says
You know what? You’re right! I go round and round and whenever I come back to Japanese makeup, I’m so pleasantly surprised at how subtly beautiful they are on the skin. Nothing bright, nothing dramatic but something that says “look at me”. I love it 😀 I haven’t tried Lunasol blushes you know. Do you have one you like that you can recommend?
I can’t believe Coffret D’or pulled out of Singapore! 😯 That’s certainly news to me! Its still here (at least the last time I checked)
Lisa says
You got to take a look at the lunasol blushers. The color range is quite a good collection. I’m new to the blushers too but fell in love with my current one. I was swatching the blushes the last time I was at the counter (there was a 20% off all lunasol products for a day in dec) and was so tempted to get a few. However, my sanity made me put them back as I already purchased several eye palattes. Couldn’t resist the good bargain. Next year, when the sale comes back, I think I will definitely be picking up another one or two blusher from the collection.
And yes, coffret d’or pulled out as the distributing company is going to concentrate on the Lunasol line instead.
ParisB says
Ok you convinced me! (not that I needed much convincing! hehe…) I’m going to try the Lunasol blushes the next time I see an offer on. I don’t know how well received Coffret D’or is here either. I hope it doesn’t get pulled too!

Aww…You got my favorite brand blusher. Isn’t it look pretty~~ It flush well on your cheek. I was tempted to get the new Coffret D’or Beauty Sharp Designer Blusher. The packaging seems awesome~~

Teehee… Thank you! Its quite an amazing little blush 😀
rosejaejoong says
the colors look so sweet on you dear..i have dark tone skin, will it show up on my skin when i wear it???
ParisB says
The red one might show up although you will have to layer it on. I’m not sure how much will show though. Japanese cosmetics aren’t really made for those with very very dark skin 🙁
gio says
This is a very pretty blush! I love the natural glow it gives to your skin. 🙂
ParisB says
Thank you Gio. Its so cute too right? 😉
Jess says
I always see this around , never get to try them.. looks absolutely pretty on you! now i got reason to go and try it !!!
ParisB says
Yes do! Its a very pretty little blush. I just don’t know the local prices -_-
Jo says
You look gorgeous babe! 😉 I always love how you coyly smile with the lovely blush on your cheeks… I can never get my blush right! (the colour doesn’t come out as pretty as yours – could it be the wrong colour?) Boo hoo~
ParisB says
LOL Thank you Jo! 😀 If the colour is coming out too strongly, perhaps your brush is too dense or you are picking up too much colour. Try this: Brush lightly across the top of the blush, tap on a piece of tissue paper or the back of your hand and then apply to your cheeks. Repeat if necessary. You get a lighter more natural flush this way 🙂
