Your favourite (and not so favourite) Beauty Items in 2010

December 29, 2010 Paris B 49 Comments

During the weekend, I asked you for your favourite non-beauty item in 2010 and I was so amused to see that we have so many gadget geeks among us. Gadget geeks unite! 😀

Anyway with each day, we’re slowly but surely heading to the close of 2010 and a new year of 2011, so I thought it might be fun for us to share our faves and duds of the year in terms of beauty products, this time 😉

a few of my fave things in 2010

Like every year, 2010 saw a slew of new products head our way. Some of us took the plunge and tried the new items, some of us didn’t, preferring to stick to the tried and true. Some of us rediscovered old favourites in the process and some of us discovered pure lumps of coal. Duds. They are the bane of trying anything new.

Would you want to share your favourite and not so favourite beauty products of 2010 with us? 🙂

I’ll start and you can just follow on in the comments 😀

MWS Open Cafe #4 – The 2010 year end edition

December 28, 2010 Paris B

excellent coffee at RAW vegetarian cafe

Hello hello!

Would you believe its been 6 months since we last had a good ol’ natter? Blame it on work –  mine 🙂

But we’re all mellow from Christmas and its just 4 days to the end of 2010 and I thought it’d be nice to take a nice short breather and open up the MWS Cafe for a while.

If you’re new, the MWS Cafe is where we draw up our chairs, pick up our cuppa Joe or whatever your drink of choice is and have a good ol-fashioned chit chat session in the comments. Ask a question. Make a statement. Tell us your new year resolutions. Declare your love for Justin Bieber… if you so wish 😛 I’ll be here to chat with you and anyone can feel free to jump in with a suggestion or question or to answer a quetion posed – Just keep it clean and family friendly k?

Talking about drinks, yesterday I had one of the best coffees I’ve ever had in Kuala Lumpur and it was at the soon to be opened Real And Wholesome (RAW) cafe at Wisma Equity near KLCC. Its a cafe serving vegetarian and vegan food, but if you enjoy good robust coffee, you MUST try theirs, roasted and brewed in situ! Mmmm…… see the picture above 😀

So you bring your drinks and I’ll bring dessert 😉 Would you prefer some chocolate covered cookies?

Or maybe some longan jelly 😀

And ooh err… lookee what dropped in out of the blue…

lanvin marry me perfume

No! No congratulations are in order LOL! 😀 Its that Lanvin “Marry Me” fragrance I told you about before this. It actually smells very fresh and pretty. I’ll tell you about this some time soon and those waiting for “the question” to be popped can KIV this for their Valentine’s Day wishlist 😉

Alright then Ladies, MWS Cafe is open for a limited time, and its always good fun.

See ya in the comments! 😀

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation : Its good, get it, ’nuff said!

December 27, 2010 Paris B 46 Comments

If we had Bourjois here in Malaysia, I’d tell you to stop reading this right about now and head out there and get your very own Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation! Yes, its that good and I like it that much!

Its a pity therefore that we do not have Bourjois here in Malaysia. However, they do in Singapore, so you can always get your Bourjois fix if you head down to our Southern neighbour 🙂 I got mine a while ago from the UK and it was a purchase on a whim. And for once, a whim paid off 😛

The Healthy Mix foundation was introduced early in 2010 but as Bourjois isn’t a brand we get here, I tend to not pay attention to it. Still, when confronted with a counter in Superdrug, I just had to pick something up. And this was one of the “somethings”.

My colour is No. 51 Light Vanilla which is my shade to a T. The product comes in a slim plastic bottle as you see in the picture, with a pump nozzle. 1 pump is about all I need for my whole face. The texture is medium-sheer but buildable. Doesn’t go much further than medium coverage though if you prefer something full coverage.

Eyeko Cherry Fat Balm : Who are you calling Fat then?

December 27, 2010 Paris B 24 Comments

You have to love a product name like “Fat Balm” I did which was why I bought into it from Eyeko. The Fat Balm is a little stick of coloured balm that you can use on lips and cheeks. Its good for those slick on and go moments, when you have no time in the mornings to primp.

I purchased it in 2 colours but the one I’m showing you today is Cherry. Why did I go for Cherry? Because Eyeko said it would give me red lips, and you know how I love red lips! You know how you say “Oh I can’t wear red lipstick! I look awful!” You know what? Give the Eyeko Fat Balm in Cherry a go, if you can. It gives you a very lovely sheer red lip that will slowly ease you into the world of red lipsticks 😀

The Eyeko Fat Balm is just a tiny fat stick of balm. In the picture below you can see just how tiny it is when held in the palm of my hand. You can use it on your lips as a tinted lip balm or also swipe it on your cheeks as a cream blush.
