Hey ladies, we’re slowing inching into Summer collections – usually not a fave for me, but I’m very intrigued by Shu Uemura’s offering for Summer 2010 – the Gem Glam collection.
Actually, I’m only really interested in one item from Gem Glam – the Flawless Glow Powder compact. See that compact in the picture? I have a bigger picture below (not the real thing of course 😛 Its not out here in Malaysia yet but its out on Shu Uemura online (USA))
So what’s this Flawless Glow Powder then? I’m getting vibes of another glow powder I love – wanna hazard a guess which one I’m thinking of? 😛
If you guessed the Guerlain Meteorites powder, you’d be right.
The Flawless Glow Powder from Shu Uemura is a multicoloured compact that has 2 halves. The top half highlights with luminous powder to give you a glow while the bottom half is for contouring. Shu Uemura says you can use it all mixed together for a healthy luminous glow and to even out skin tone and minimize pores.
On a personal note, I’d be comfortable with the top half – it lacks a pink which is usually used to add a fresh glow but the usual purple for skin brightening and green for counteracting redness is there. I’m a little uncertain about the bottom half actually. I’m not one for contouring and I’m wondering if it might be a little warm for me. I think I might have preferred a compact in either one of the shades offered instead of a 2-in-1.
That said, I’ll try to check it out when it gets here (possibly in June?) and I’ll tell you what I think then. Retails currently online at Shu Uemura USA for US$55.
Your thoughts? 😀

Hmmm, I’m pretty clueless about contouring, yikes. Don’t know why, but I’m not partial to things that make me ‘glowy’. hehehehehe. I prefer matte stuff. ^.^
ParisB says
For me, its harder to do matte than to do glowy and I do like a glowy effect coz it hides flaws and tricks the eye into seeing flawless skin 🙂

ever since i’ve tried ur guerlain perles rec i’ve never looked back, so no, i hardly think this shu thing will compare. =P

But aren’t you just a wee bit curious? I am 😉

wow weird is the word i guess. i am with you on the top half but a bit worried about the bottom. however, if swirling all colours together, it should be a light warm hue instead of yellow and brown right? i’d be very interested in trying out this palette simply because it’s strange, something i have yet to see from shu for the longest time. the rest of the stuff in that ad just look meh…
ParisB says
Shu does say that if you swirl it all together you should get a warm glowy look. I’ll be keen to see it in action (and you’re right the rest is a little blah) I’m just wondering why they split the pan instead of having it all in one big pan.

The powder looks pretty in the pan, I like the pattern but I honestly wouldn’t know how to use it, especially the bottom half. I guess it’s just to weird for me.
ParisB says
Yep like you we’re all wondering how we can use the bottom half. Guess we’ll have to wait and see

This is the only item from the collection which caught my eyes. Looking forward to checking it out too. Love the geometric pattern.

yup! reminded me of the YSL Horizon palette. Perhaps we’re starting to see the YSL-L’Oreal cross over already!

I’ll just wait for PB’s review before I start another lemming! Heh. 😛
ParisB says
haha I’ll share my thoughts once I see it in person (and get it to work… or not)

What is better skin care products for mature skin, Lancome or Clairns
ParisB says
Both brands have ranges for mature skin – depends on which meets your budget and which works better. Neither is “better” than the other – its just which works better for you.

The first thing that came to mind when i looked at the enlarged Glow Powder is “Austin Powers in the 60’s”. Shaggy Baby!.
ParisB says
Yeah baby yeah! *puts on geeky Austin Powers grin*
