Dupe Alert: Stage Pretty Nail Color dupe for Shu Uemura Egerie Pink Nail Enamel

March 10, 2010 Paris B 10 Comments

I was staring at Karen’s picture of the new Shu Uemura Egerie Nail Enamel in Pink P935 and could not help wondering where I’d see that colour before. Its quite a common sort of salmon pink shade but in my meagre nail polish collection, I knew I had something similar.

A couple of seconds later, I found it. (I told you my nail colour collection is small 😛 ) It was Pretty by Stage Cosmetics.

Pretty is a pale pearly pink shade that is sweet and young and fresh (its pinker in real life than in the picture). Nothing as in-your-face as Gorgeous is. Perfect sort of shade for a sombre work place or for a date. Well, unless you are more of the red polish sort 😉

Unlike Gorgeous, I found the formula of Pretty a little thick so it applied a little streaky. I also had a bit of a hard time controlling the brush to ensure a smooth sheer layer but I found it works better if you use a base. Then it glides on more easily and with 2 layers, you get pretty much what you see in the picture below.

There is a reason for my trying to dupe the Shu Uemura Egerie Pink nail polish. I’m told that we don’t get it here in Malaysia because Shu Uemura did not bring in the nail polishes for the Spring collection.

Another great reason to find a dupe eh? 😉

Stage nail colours retail for RM35 a bottle (I bought mine at RM10 during a sale). Shu Uemura nail enamels usually retail for about RM65 a bottle. I however do not have a dupe for that Black Shu Uemura Egerie Nail Enamel. I wants 😛

Pros: Pretty colour, Affordable dupe for the Shu Uemura colour

Cons: Applies a little streaky, needs a base coat

I don’t usually wear light nail polishes but ever since I bought this, I’ve been wearing it quite a lot because chips don’t show up as much and fewer eyebrows are raised at work. How about you? Are you partial to lighter or darker nail polishes?

That’s a really pretty pale pink that I wouldn’t mind wearing but I’m still in my OPI I’m Not Really A Waitress red phase! So much so that I bought it thru a spree and am waiting for it to arrive! 😀

Woohoo! I love that shade of OPI! Granted its a little darker than what I’d like. The Oui bit of Red is awesome too!

the practical feminine side of me says light and pretty for its chip-hiding and prettiness, but the frivolous naughty side says you gotta have some super gorgeous burgundies and violets to rock your day sometimes… 😀

that said, i’m wearing stage’s gorgeous right now – so i guess the frivolous side won out! *grins*

The inner goth within me always demands dark nail polish, but the “Happy” side wants sparkles, so I do both, hahahaha.

Haha… I bet it makes a great base for nail art. I’m not so talented so I keep mine bare 😉

It’s an unusual Chinese New Year this year. It’s the first time since I left home that I did not make an early morning drive home for CNY for the reunion dinner (I always do so to beat traffic). It’s the first time I’m spending CNY in KL. It’s the first time my hair is looking such a mess for CNY 😂
Regardless, we do this not for ourselves but for others so we can have more joyful CNY celebrations to come.
Wishing all of you a Happy, healthy Chinese New Year filled with Ox-picious tidings 🧧 Gong Xi Fa Cai and enjoy the festive break! ❤️
