Auld Lang Syne! So Long Farewell 2009!

December 31, 2009 Paris B 7 Comments

2009

And here we have it! 31 December 2009! We made it! 😀

The end of yet another year. Did it fly by for you as quickly as it did for me? What with work and blogging, and travelling, 2009 has been a blur of activity for me.

Not to say that I did not enjoy most of it 😀

You can hop into the time machine and trawl 2009 through the archives – I decided not to do a recap this year. Its been such a momentous year I couldn’t pick out just one highlight and of course, I have enjoyed sharing it all with you.

If you’re hitting up some New Year’s Eve parties tonight, have fun and stay safe and if there’s any kissing to be done at the stroke of midnight, slick on your favourite red lippie and just do it! 😀

Fave red lips with Chanel Jupiter Glossimer, Dior Serum de Rouge Crimson, Stage Racy Wonderkiss

See you in 2010!

Hugs and red lipsticked smooches,

Paris B

My Signature Look 2009 : Red Lips and Smokey-ish eyes

December 31, 2009 Paris B 10 Comments

So, my sort of signature look this year has been smokey-ish eyes and red lips. For me, that’s a fool proof look I can pull from day to night. Part of the reason also is that smokey eyes can hide a multitude of makeup mistakes and then I distract with red lips. haha… 😛

So, here’s how I’m ringing out the old year and ringing in the new.

Because I’m feeling a little lazy, I’m going with quite an understated eye look. A quick blend of the Maybelline Eyestudio Diamond Glow palette in pink gray and I’m done. I’ve used it so much this year with great success, I amaze myself at how this affordable palette has saved my look time and again since I discovered it.

For a touch of understated glam, I’ve dabbed on the Guerlain le 2 Brush Mascara in Reine 2 Nuit which was released with the Guerlain Christmas collection. I’m going to complain about the packaging. It looks pretty, but feels like plastic which saddens me. I liked the heft of the original le 2 Brush mascara 🙁 The base mascara colour is black and the top coat is gold. Not very noticable but catches a little under the lights. Which red lip did you think I’d go with?

Swim with dolphins on a Ladies Day Out on NTV7

December 30, 2009 Paris B 5 Comments

Did you know you can swim with dolphins right here in Kuala Lumpur?

That was one of the things that caught my attention when I was introduced to the upcoming lifestyle programme “Ladies Day Out” premiering on NTV7 at 7.30pm on 8 January 2010. Produced by Sheahnee Iman Lee, and hosted by local celebrities Daphne Iking and Aishah Sinclair, Ladies Day Out will be an insight into what ladies do on their day out and what they talk about over their scones and tea or biscotti and coffee depending on which you prefer 😀

There will be 5 segments categorized into Body & Soul, Home & Garden, Mother & Baby, Husband & Wife and Out & About which are pretty self-explanatory. Think of it like a tv version of your favourite women’s magazine. In fact, in the first episode, there is a segment on women who suffered through severe morning sickness during their pregnancies. I can’t quite commiserate but I marveled at how they persevered through the terrible 9 months to bring their babies to life. Amazing strength that! Incidentally I reckon Sheahnee Lee could relate because she’s expecting a lovely baby early next year! 🙂

There is of course a beauty segment by Clarins – we all love being made beautiful right? 🙂

I secretly filmed a teaser of what the programme will be like, so click over after the jump for the video 😉

December 30, 2009 Paris B 10 Comments

I’ve shared with you my best of 2009 in the various beauty categories before Christmas. But since we’ve entered the final stretch of 2009 and are already on the cusp of 2010, I’ve invited my beauty blogging friends to share their Top Picks of 2009 for beauty related products!

We’ve all tried so many awesome things throughout the year but I limited everyone to just 1 item. Yes, its a tough decision but someone’s got to make it! 😛

Here they are – the best of 2009 from our little beauty blogging community!

blogger_picks

Tine of Beautyholics Anonymous picks Clinique’s Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer Serum and says “It’s a pity it doesn’t work for everyone, but I’m so glad it works very well for me. Hello smooth skin!”

Yani of Red Luscious Lips chose as her top pick the Chanel Rouge Allure Lacque.

Connie of Skindeco highlights the RMK Powder Foundation EX for 2009.

Plue of Beauty up my Life picks The Body Shop Africa Spa Wisdom Honey & Beeswax Hand and Foot Butter.

Beetrice of Beetrice’s Reviews went for the Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions™ Ultimate White Surface Brightening Exfoliator as her top pick!

Xin of PrettyBeautiful went for Stila Smudge Pots which she says is a lifesaver for oily lids.

Nikki of AskMeWhats picked a gadget! The Remington Protect and Shine Pro Soft Curl Tong and she says “This is my ultimate favorite, been using this everyday and it gives a nice soft curl on my hair :)”

Kahani, Syen and Eli of Soloverly picked the H20+ Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment gel and the Cellnique / B.Liv Pro Sebum Gel as their top picks of 2009.

Paris B of My Women Stuff couldn’t pick just 1 item but eventually settled for the Dior Serum de Rouge lipstick – every girl should have one!

And so we end 2009.

Here’s to a brand new chapter of beauty goodies in 2010! Stay with us yeah? 🙂

Why don’t you share your Top Pick for 2009 with us too! Go on, its fun!
