MWS Christmas Gift Guide and Best of 2009

December 1, 2009 Paris B 17 Comments

xmas_guide

When I thought to start a Christmas Gift Guide, I decided to not go the way of the limited edition goodies that companies come up with towards the end of the year. Some coffret sets may be of excellent value but I’ve learnt that coffret sets aren’t always full of gems. In fact, I’ve had many coffret sets that contained 1 gem and 5 duds. I prefer to stick to gems not plaster 🙂 [Edit: No offense to anyone might find coffret sets they like and some ARE stuffed with gems – and look pretty to boot! I’m just fussy 😛 ]

So I prefer to create my own gift sets and I wanted to feature something that I might like to receive for Christmas and it may not come in a coffret set or be part of the limited edition Christmas collection.

So, we will have our own gift guide for Christmas – based on gift category and based on my star picks of 2009! I guess you could call this my “Best of 2009 makeup and skincare series” 🙂

You can easily pick up some of the items mentioned in coffret sets and maybe get a good price for them but I will hope to remind you of  some other star products I have encountered over the year. You are welcome to add your choices in the comments as we go along.

Christmas is always a good time to get something nice for yourself or a friend 🙂 The list which is limited only to makeup and skincare will be updated below.

Note: I have only included products I have sampled in 2009 which may include new and “old” or existing products. Its a best of the products I tried in 2009 not the best of new releases in 2009.

Christmas Gift Ideas and Best of 2009 based on reviews on My Women Stuff :-

  1. Smooches under the Mistletoe! Best lip products of 2009
  2. Smooth as new snow! Best skincare of 2009
  3. The eyes have it! Best eye products of 2009
  4. Spare no blushes! Best blushes of 2009
  5. Build on a good foundation! Best face products of 2009

Watch out for the posts appearing in the next 5 days. 🙂

Happy shopping!

      Hi KS

My “Best of 2009” series will have both high and low end products to cater for all wallets 😉 So there won’t be a dedicated post but you will still have what I think are good budget buys in the same categories.

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
Thanks for the gift @tnsskinlab and I must apologise for my tardiness 😩 I’ll learn to cope better from next week!
Now I have to scuttle and write my year end musings. Some traditions must be kept! 😜
Tell me your fave Antipdoes skincare product!

It’s my first year doing retail and honestly, I’d never been so busy! The year-end rush is unreal! But busy is good, right? At least that’s what I tell myself 😂
While I pack up gift boxes of treats for doggies 🐶 (I’ve tied so many ribbons I’ve finally started to get it right!) #loccitanemalaysia makes it easy to shop for humans 😅 at experienceloccitane.com with their L’Occitane en Demande service. Place your order, and pick up in store or have it delivered.
Had a bit of breather today and put together a little video. Blink and miss my little monster 🐶 helping me shop! Not sponsored but I did receive a gift from L’Occitane, for which my sun-exposed, dry dog-walking skin thanks you!
Haven’t done any Christmas shopping this year. It has only just struck me that it’s but mere days away! 😨 Have you done yours?
