Have a Burlesque Ball with Stage Cosmetics Holiday collection

November 20, 2009 Paris B 30 Comments

stage_burlesque_ball eye palette and lipstick

Stage Cosmetics has come up with something interesting and might I say quite eye catching for the Holiday season – Burlesque Ball! Think Dita von Teese with a strong lip colour and strong eye colours. Burlesque gives you a chance to wear red lipstick like there’s no tomorrow!

We have here the 5 colour eyeshadow palette in Gossip which is perfect for smokey eyes and the new Stage WonderKiss cream lipstick in Racy.

Gossip has 5 colours in an easy to tote slim palette – dark navy blue, purple, metallic grey, metallic brown and shimmer white. I use 2-3 colours max to create a mean smokey eye but I find the combination I use most is the dark blue, grey and white. The look is seriously awesome and can take you from day to night depending on the intensity. I wore this most while on holiday and I find it enhances my eyes somehow.

I do find however that the colours tend towards the dark. In fact the palette reminds me of a Dior palette – I can’t place which though. So whilst it looks navy blue in the pan, its almost black on the skin. The purple barely shows up as purple and is in fact my least favourite colour although you can wear it on its own with the white to bring out the sparkles.

The brown is pretty if used on its own with the white while I love the white. It creates the most perfect highlight for the inner corners to open up your eyes and also for the brow bone. If you have overdone the darker colours, just swipe some white shadow over your lid and immediately the colours lighten in intensity.

If you want a palette that you can use to easily create a smokey eye then this might be it. I do note however that the staying power isn’t quite up to mark. I do not have oily lids but I did find the colour fading a little towards the end of the day. Nothing an eye base can’t fix but you should take note of this. I have the same problem with MAC eyeshadows and no one else does so its a case of “your mileage might vary”. I’ve got a FOTD below to show you how it all looks with Racy Wonderkiss lipstick – the reddest lip I’ve ever sported 🙂

Pair the Gossip eyeshadow palette with Racy Wonderkiss cream lipstick and you are up for some serious burlesque looks! Wonderkiss is a new formula lipstick by Stage Cosmetics and the colour in the tube is pretty much what you see is what you get.

Above is a picture of Racy applied straight on my lips from the tube. Its bright, creamy and super eye catching. Photo is not photoshopped (I don’t know how to 😛 ) and it was also unedited. Crazy red right? Even I couldn’t help staring at my lips in the mirror haha…

Its perfect for night looks but might be too much for the day. In the day, I would suggest you use a  lip brush so it is less intense, and just dab on a little bit for a touch of colour, then apply some nude lipgloss over if you want some shine. Save the full on lipstick for the night 😉

I must say however that Racy really stays on. If you are following my tweets on Twitter, you would recall me tweeting a picture of Racy on my lips which was taken about noon after morning coffee, copius cups of water and lunch. Once the red wore off and stayed as a stain, I topped it up with Penelope Wondergloss and it looks perfect again.

If you like the shade of red in Racy but do not want such intensity, apply Racy on your lips and then blot off twice. Then top up with a gloss. Looks beautiful too!

Here’s a full face I did using both Gossip eyeshadow palette and Racy Wonderkiss lipstick. I’m no expert so this is just to show you how it looks. 🙂

Stage Gossip 5 Colour Eyeshadow:-

Pros: Intense colour, Good for smokey eye looks, Easy to tote, Handy brushes included

Cons: Colours may not suit everyone, Slight fading on my lids

Stage Racy Wonderkiss Cream Lipstick:-

Pros: Bright intense colour, Creamy texture, No scent

Cons: Red can bleed so use a lip liner

In the Burlesque Ball collection, you get 2 colour eyeshadow palettes in Scandal and Gossip. Scandal is the more neutral palette. Retail price is RM135 per palette.

There are 6 shades available in the new Wonderkiss Cream lipstick formula of which Racy is the raciest. Take your pick from Coy (frosted lilac), Swoon (Matte neutral), Amuse (metallic rose bronze), Wild (deep matte plum) and Thrill (bright frosted violet). Each lipstick retails at RM50.

Other items in the collection include false eyelashes in Vodka and Martini both of which I have not seen but pictures indicate they are quite “interesting” hmm… 🙂

So, would you wear Racy Wonderkiss out? I did! On a working day too and I loved it so I’ll do it again – you? 😀

UPDATE: Connie of SkinDeco did a sweet look using Scandal eyeshadow palette and Coy Wonderkiss lipstick. Go see here!

Stay beautiful,

u look very sophisticated with this look… i think if u were going for a ball then it will suit better, otherwise its pretty scary looking like this…hehe… will red lippie look more tone down if pair with nude eyes n face? I wanted to ask by the way, do u need to line ur lips before u apply lipgloss, i’ve seen somewhere tat u can do so…. oh, can u teach me how to line my lips by the way n how to match lipliner colours with lipstick colour?

      Hi Germaine

I do not line my lips before using lipgloss. I’ve found that most lipglosses do not bleed on my lips. The only time I have “problems” is if I use a dark or bright lipstick that is too creamy or a bright lipgloss and lipstick. Then it might bleed a little in which case a lip liner may be useful. I’ll write about this some time soon once I find me some lip liners hehe…

the red looks really bombastic on you!!!! i used to steal mom’s red lippie when i was like 6 or 7 years old, then i applied to my FULL mouth and i shocked all the adults with the horribly big mouth. LOL. since then i never dare to use bright red anymore.

      Hi Pinkcloud

Racy isn’t quite the stuff to ease yourself into red – but if you try it and you like it, by all means get it! 😀
