Colours that shine with Iridescence from the Deep in the RMK Deep Iridescence Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection

Of all the seasonal collections cosmetics brands come out with, my favourite is usually the Autumn/Winter collections. These collections usually feature stronger, deeper colours that appeal more to my style, than pale light colours of Spring or warm colours of Summer. So with a name like “Deep Iridescence” you can imagine that the RMK Autumn/Winter 2012 collection quite appealed to me 😉

When I scanned the collection at the counter, it struck me that the only items that truly deserved the “Deep Iridescence” title was the eyeshadows and nail polishes. Both these items have a deep, dark base with a luminosity or iridescence, if you will, of light. The lip and cheek colours are complementary and I think that was a good idea. You can’t have everything deep, dark and vamp or it might as well be called “Gothic Collection” LOL!

I have here one of the eye colours, cheek colours and lip colour, the latter of which I find truly fascinating, so I’ll share my thoughts on these below. By way of preliminary observation, I just have to say that I found them… surprising.

RMK Makeup Base and Liquid Foundation have all your bases well covered

I used to be very active on a makeup forum back before I started blogging, and at the time the “star foundation” everyone was raving over worldwide, was the RMK cream foundation. Any request for a foundation rec would inevitably throw up RMK. Yet I was also warned repeatedly that the cream foundation might be a little heavy for our tropical weather so I was always a little afraid to try it. Why did no one then ever tell me there was a lighter liquid foundation option?! 😛

Well let me tell you now, that there is a liquid foundation and there is a makeup base and they are both excellent products.

The products themselves are superb and I don’t hand out superlatives like this lightly. Texture is featherlight on skin, colour match is very impressive, and it is just an all round winner.

I will however grouse about the packaging, as we’ll see. Yeah, it would appear that nothing is really perfect. Sigh…

Continuing the RMK 15th Anniversary celebrations with the Eye Palette (Gray 02) and Lip Palette

All brands should give the same attention to detail that RMK did when making their 15th Anniversary Eye Palettes and Lip Palette.

Earlier this year, RMK announced that they were turning 15 this year (a milestone in cosmetics years!) and to commemorate this achievement, they were releasing some limited edition goodies throughout the year. The first item they tempted us with was the 15th Anniversary Cheek Palette – a pretty and useable palette that came in 2 shades and which broke many a heart of anyone attempting to use it.

We were told it wasn’t the last of it, and here comes the second installment – the 15th Anniversary Eye Palette and Lip Palette. The eye palette comes in 2 shades, one warmer with pink and brown colours and another cooler with blue, grey and gold colours. The lip palette comes in just 1 which will suit most skintones.

I’m going to first have a good ol’ rave at the packaging. Both Eye and Lip palettes are incredibly well packaged in a convenient travel friendly tube packaging. In each tube fits the 4 colour product palette, a mirror and a dual ended brush that is very good quality. The whole package fits nicely in your hand and slips nicely into the side of your bag or pouch for touch ups. Its an innovative wonder! But packaging aside, let’s take a look at performance 🙂

What’s in my makeup and skincare pouch? The Beach Holiday Edition

Ladies! I’m just back from a relaxing holiday by the beach and am only just starting to get back into the swing of things. You know, holidays are both a bane and a boon. I’m thankful for them for recharging and yet, you know that post-holiday slump we all fall into? Yeah I’m in that slump now. I hope you’ve had lots to read here on MWS to keep you occupied over the past few days while I get back on the bandwagon and on track 🙂

So since I had nothing planned for today’s post, here, have a peek at what I took with my on my short holiday by the sea where I pretty much did nothing but sit on the beach, soak up some sun, stuff my face silly with food and just generally relax 🙂
