Budget Beauty: 10 Things I love that cost under RM50

August 1, 2012 Paris B 62 Comments

budget buys under RM50

RM50, depending on how you look a it, can take you far (I could eat for a week on RM50!) or it isn’t very much. RM50 at today’s exchange rate is roughly S$20, £10,  US$16 or €13. Yeah, once we do the math, it looks pretty pathetic LOL! 😛

Yet, RM50 can buy me some of my favourite beauty items or pick me ups, with change to boot! I know I talk a lot about department store brands and pricier (ok, expensive!) products on my blog. What can I say? Its a personal preference! 😉 But there are some affordable budget buys that I like too, and I thought I’d share them with you. I think RM50 is a nice budget friendly amount. Not hard on the wallet for most, and if you have a small budget or are a student it should be a good threshold.

I will pick up a group of items from time to time to tell you about the budget items I like that you could quite easily pick up without hurting your wallet too much. All items featured will cost RM50 or under.  Take a look and chip in if you think there’s a budget buy I should be taking a look at 🙂

New! L’Oreal White Perfect Laser Essence and Day Cream – As effective as IPL or laser?

July 21, 2012 Paris B 27 Comments

loreal white perfect laser essence and day cream

If you have been eagle-eyed you might have noticed a new iteration of the L’Oreal White Perfect range at the local pharmacies – L’Oreal White Perfect Laser. The products, currently just the Essence and Day Cream, are housed in metallic deep blue packaging and the formula has been improved so the effects are now reportedly equivalent to that of getting laser treatment.

One word: Wow!

Ok 2 words: Wow, really?!

“Some cosmetic ingredients can be as efficient as IPL” said Ms. Elisabeth Bouhadana, Scientific Communications Director of L’Oreal Paris International who is based at the L’Oreal offices in Paris. Ms. Bouhadana spoke to some of the local media via video conference a little while ago about this new range, and answered some questions like “Can using skincare compare to laser treatments?” and “Why does the day cream only have SPF19?” I’ll share some of her insights here 🙂

The L’Oreal White Perfect Pearl Brush On Whitening Foundation Essence : I have intense love and dislike for this one

April 11, 2012 Paris B 34 Comments

This L’Oreal White Perfect Pearl Brush On Whitening Foundation Essence is *drumroll please* a liquid foundation with a built in brush. Don’t be taken in by the essence bit. Its essentially just a liquid foundation in a tube with attached brush. It isn’t even very runny as an essence would be.

I got this one a little while back and was a bit ho-hum about it initially. I kept taking it out of its box and looking at it, feeling the stiff brush, and then putting it back. I wasn’t sure what to make of it.

But recently, I decided I’d better at least give it a go to see what it was really like. And goshdarnit! I really like this foundation! Ok, one caveat. I like the foundation formula. I dislike the packaging and think it is a TERRIBLE idea 😛

How To: Work-Friendly Makeup and How I Apply My Eyeshadow

March 28, 2012 Paris B 77 Comments

I’m one of those people who got into makeup  late in my life, when I started working. Even then, I only started with a lipstick, then blush before I finally had enough confidence to try eyeshadow. Early attempts were pretty much disastrous but these days, I’ve hit upon a technique that works very well for me and that I employ with almost every eye look and colour combination. Its terribly simple and uncomplex so you can imagine my surprise that I quite recently received a few emails asking how I apply my eyeshadow. I never thought that it would elicit interest LOL! 🙂

work friendly eyeshadow application

So, I thought I’d share how I wear a work friendly eye look, and also how I apply my eyeshadow. Its not quite as marvellous or amazing as the many other eyeshadow tutorials you see out there, but I hope some of you may find it useful because its dead easy 🙂
