The L’Oreal White Perfect Pearl Brush On Whitening Foundation Essence : I have intense love and dislike for this one

April 11, 2012 Paris B 34 Comments

This L’Oreal White Perfect Pearl Brush On Whitening Foundation Essence is *drumroll please* a liquid foundation with a built in brush. Don’t be taken in by the essence bit. Its essentially just a liquid foundation in a tube with attached brush. It isn’t even very runny as an essence would be.

I got this one a little while back and was a bit ho-hum about it initially. I kept taking it out of its box and looking at it, feeling the stiff brush, and then putting it back. I wasn’t sure what to make of it.

But recently, I decided I’d better at least give it a go to see what it was really like. And goshdarnit! I really like this foundation! Ok, one caveat. I like the foundation formula. I dislike the packaging and think it is a TERRIBLE idea 😛

How To: Work-Friendly Makeup and How I Apply My Eyeshadow

March 28, 2012 Paris B 77 Comments

I’m one of those people who got into makeup  late in my life, when I started working. Even then, I only started with a lipstick, then blush before I finally had enough confidence to try eyeshadow. Early attempts were pretty much disastrous but these days, I’ve hit upon a technique that works very well for me and that I employ with almost every eye look and colour combination. Its terribly simple and uncomplex so you can imagine my surprise that I quite recently received a few emails asking how I apply my eyeshadow. I never thought that it would elicit interest LOL! 🙂

work friendly eyeshadow application

So, I thought I’d share how I wear a work friendly eye look, and also how I apply my eyeshadow. Its not quite as marvellous or amazing as the many other eyeshadow tutorials you see out there, but I hope some of you may find it useful because its dead easy 🙂

Pink Eyeshadow Challenge: How to wear L’Oreal Infallible Color Eyeshadow in Forever Pink

March 14, 2012 Paris B 49 Comments

Early this week when I told you about the L’Oreal Infallible Colour Eyeshadows (still no news about availability in Malaysia) a reader Jen mentioned in the comments about wanting to see how I would use Forever Pink. Well, I wanted to know too! So, after a bit of hmm-ing and haw-ing, I decided that it was a bit dangerous to use Forever Pink on its own for fear of the dreaded pink-eye syndrome. But I’d learnt a trick or two after the Dior Rose Porcelaine episode!

Instead, I decided a darker shade will help distract from the pink, and will also add dimension and depth. I was going to go with a black shadow (and I’m sure it would be stunning pairing pink with black) but I opted instead to try Forever Pink with a deep navy blue in All Night Blue 🙂

L’Oreal Infallible Color Eyeshadow : What are these shadows and are they worth the hype?

March 12, 2012 Paris B 59 Comments

The L’Oreal Infallible Color eyeshadows have gotten a lot of press recently, and mostly good. I had been quite curious about it ever since I came across mention of it, because I already had the Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill shadows at that time, and I’d read that the L’Oreal ones were similar in terms of texture (but not in colour complexity). I picked up my first – Permanent Kaki 009 at Changi Airport last year. There were very limited colours available and I never thought to write about it for various reasons (mostly related to forgetfulness).

As far as I know, Singapore has some of these L’Oreal Infallible shadows but they are notoriously hard to find. If anyone from Singapore wants to chip in as to where one may find these babies, please do! 🙂 Locally in Malaysia, I’ve gotten conflicting reports about whether we will get these. Some say yes, the PR people said no but I still hold out hope! 🙂

I picked up 2 of the deeper shades – Eternal Black and All Night Blue – on my most recent visit to Hong Kong but the rest were a surprise from my fairy godmother, Tracy all the way from Canada! 😀 *mwaks*

Now that I actually have more of them, I am more inclined to blog about it 🙂 Most of you when surveyed on Facebook, preferred to see all colours in one post (hence the delay) but here we are! Some thoughts, swatches and a couple of looks I pulled off. Plus I’ll also tell you if its worth lusting after these, and how does the shadow really looks when its shattered all over the floor (and why you shouldn’t panic). Yes indeed. Lots to see so grab a coffee or tea and sit back. Here we go! 😀
