Save and Splurge: Hair Treatment Oils or Serums for Frizzy Hair

Yesterday, for the first time in a very long time, I took out my bottle of MoroccanOil Oil Treatment to use. As I noted in an earlier review, this oil was great for my hair in a very cold environment, but here in this hot humid Malaysian weather, it quickly weighed my hair down with daily use. However, my hair has been feeling unnaturally frizzy of late and this oil tamed it down a treat. No more lion’s mane! It was when I was looking at the small range of hair treatment oils on my dresser and realised just how they fell nicely into different price ranges – Save and Splurge time! 😀

I must say here that I don’t take very good care of my hair. Yeah like nails, if beauty blogging was judged on us being all rounded polished from head to toenails, boy! am I a failure 😛  But we’re not – yay! 😀 So I’m a shampoo and conditioner gal and off and on, I slap on a hair mask (usually one of the anti-frizz ones from different price spectrums). However, I blow dry my hair most evenings so it looks nice the next morning so a hair treatment oil helps keep frizzies at bay, and keeps hair from drying out too much.

L’Oreal Youth Code Pre-Essence : Cracking the Code of Youth

PB Says: Early this month, I despatched guest writer Juan to the exclusive media launch of the L’Oreal Youth Code Pre-Essence in Malaysia. Youth Code is a range of skincare I have been watching and waiting to enter our local market and now they are here! Well, starting with Pre-Essence anyway, and I’m told the rest of the range will follow. Its got huge raves overseas and I’m curious to see how it will fare. Let’s see what Juan’s report says.

Few things that first caught my eye when L’oreal Paris launched the Youth Code Pre-Essence recently:

1. Their tagline – Have You Cracked The Code of Youth
2. The word, “Prodigious” on the box. Like, whoa…

The tagline is something they would have to creatively come up with, with the many many products in the market that promise youthful appearance of the skin, bla bla bla. So, how does one know which one they should get? Could it be the pricing? This one’s priced at RM109 per bottle. Pretty steep for a drugstore brand, don’t you think? What will make you buy it? Does the tagline appeal strong enough to you to warrant a purchase or do you need more testimony to its efficacy?

Well, at first glance, it just looks like any other anti-aging product.

At second glance, you might just take the droplet and apply the serum onto your hand.

Now, this product is branded as a pre-essence, which means that it needs to be applied before your usual serum. Apparently, it claims that from its 10-year gene research, the product helps your skin absorb the nutrients and benefits of your usual serum.

Sounds like many other serum-ey products in the market, right? But the ‘gene research’ sounded just like its more high-end sister, Lancome Genifique. But let’s not go there because unlike its sister, this one’s much less painful to the wallet 😉

The L’Oreal White Perfect Micro Vibration Eye Brightener is giving out good vibrations

I’ve never been so pleased to see a Friday loom! It’s been a bit of a rough week and I was working really late last night so expect to see puffy-eyed me today 🙁 a perfect time to talk about eye creams 😛

Eye roll on treatments are no longer new to us. In fact, some of us may have even come to expect an eye treatment to come in a roller ball concept. You must admit that its fun and comforting to the eye area to roll the cool metal ball. But what about using a vibrating eye massager treatment device? One that isn’t terribly cheap but which isn’t terribly pricey either?

L’Oreal thought you might like that 🙂 The new L’Oreal White Perfect Micro Vibration Eye Brightener is it. One end is an eye cream that has pink tourmalines and melanin blockers to help brighten the skin around the eye area. This is the same ingredients found in most of the rest of the White Perfect range of products, that started with the double whitening essence.

I took this one for a trial after its launch some time in August. As far as eye creams go I wasn’t expecting to be surprised. But what I was really interested in was the eye massager.

Scrub-a-dub! L’Oreal Perfect Clean Refreshing Foaming Gel Wash with Scrublet

I was clearing out my shower caddy when I remembered I’d not blogged about this L’Oreal Perfect Clean face wash. I don’t think its available here in Malaysia but I have seen it in Singapore so that’s the nearest place to go to if you want to get this. Mine was from Superdrug in the UK.

I picked this one up because I’d remembered reading some good reviews about it, and in particular, about the Scrublet. I think I really just wanted it for the scrublet 🙂 What’s the Scrublet you ask? Its that white piece of silicone that you see in the middle of the bottle. Its not so clear from the picture above though.
