Raising the (soap) bar in the shower – 2 brands I love and why I’m switching to using bar soaps

September 8, 2022 Paris B 7 Comments

how to use bar soap

It’s a little funny topic I know, but for the longest time, I’d been a fan of shower gels or liquid body washes. I love trying new ones, and all the lovely scents they come in. In the past, liquid soaps formed a part of my souvenirs from holidays and trips overseas, where I had access to different brands and scents.

We used bar soaps growing up, and I hated them because they’d get mushy quickly, and were awfully drying on skin. They also were heavily scented, and were so strongly scented that people would use them to scent their wardrobes!

I also found using liquid body washes easier. They are less messy, and you don’t find yourself bending over to pick up a slippery bar of soap every now and then LOL! 😀 They also come in scents that are more fun.

But while in lockdown, I found some bar soaps in my cupboard, and instead of wasting them, decided to have a go. I must say that I have been pleasantly surprised by how useful they are, and it’s changed my mind about using bar soaps! 🙂

Beauty Quickie: 4 beauty products I’m enjoying at the moment

August 18, 2022 Paris B 2 Comments

Some days and some products deserve a whole long-ass post all to themselves, extolling their virtues (or allowing me to rant, as the case may be). Other days, I (like most of us) just want a quick read as to why some products work, or why they don’t.

skincare products worth trying

So, here’s some products I’ve been using over the past few months, that I’ve really enjoyed using, and that I think are worth trying. They’re skincare products that have been around a while, but I don’t like rushing into trying and telling people about new skincare I’ve tried – you never know if it really works in the short term, and it’s only after long-term use, that you truly decide if it’s a keeper or if it’s not worth trying.

But these 4 products are worth giving them a shot, and here’s why! 🙂

Now that all my foundations have expired, I’m relying on and loving the No. 1 de Chanel Revitalizing Foundation

July 18, 2022 Paris B 2 Comments

After 2.5 years of not wearing makeup, and then having to head back into society again (albeit hesitantly), I came to an awful realization. My makeup was only fit for a museum.

All the lovely bottles and powders I had had expired, or were in varying stages of expiry. It was a bit of a rude awakening, I must say.

It isn’t to say of course, that I wasn’t going to use some of the products – I operate within tolerances and I push my luck 😛 – but I saw a foundation in the No. 1 de Chanel range and I thought “I want that!”

So, when the opportunity arose for me to test it out in person, I caved and got a bottle of the No. 1 de Chanel Revitalizing Foundation. It was quite gratifying for me to find out that my shade remained the same! LOL!

It’s also been one of my better beauty buys to date! 😀

Have dry skin? Mine loves and soaks up every bit of the Evolve Organic Beauty Multi Peptide 360 Moisture Cream!

July 12, 2022 Paris B Leave a Comment

If there’s a brand that I wish were more easily accessible to me, it would be Evolve Organic Beauty. I tried some products on a whim via an online purchase, and I’ve been impressed with them all thus far. If anything, I’m keen to try more! The latest product to impress me is the Evolve Organic Beauty Multi Peptide 360 Moisture Cream.

While I’m not rabid about using natural products for my skincare, I do enjoy using good quality natural brands for creams and moisturisers. I tend to focus on using serums that are packed with active ingredients, and for me, a moisturiser or a cream serves to seal in the goodness of the serums.

Having tried many types of textures and creams from different brands, I’ve found that a well formulated natural-based moisturiser or cream usually works well for my skin. I think it is to do with the way the ingredients are blended together, and the type of ingredients that are used. The texture usually appeals better to me.

Having already tried 2 Evolve Organic Beauty products in the past (the Gentle Cleansing Melt, and the Daily Renew Facial Cream) I had high hopes for the Multi Peptide 360 Moisture Cream, and I’m happy to report that it did not disappoint at all! 😀
