This Spring 2017 decode how you view spring makeup in the Chanel Coco Codes collection

February 17, 2017 Paris B 8 Comments

You know guys, sometimes I feel so bad that I’m not a better blogger, getting out the news and reviews and what-not as they land. Things move so fast these days, that it’s really hard to stay on the ball. This is more so in the digital world, which leads nicely into the world of Chanel Coco Code, the Spring 2017 makeup collection.

A friend told me I shouldn’t beat myself up about the fact it’s been out for a while (and for some products, it might even be sold out already!) because I have an international audience who may still appreciate reading about it. At least I hope so! LOL! *fingers crossed*

This is, I believe the 3rd (or maybe 4th?) collection from Chanel’s Global Creative Makeup and Colour Designer, Lucia Pica, and I must say I’ve rather enjoyed her take on the seasonal collections thus far. Lucia Pica was the one who did the Le Rouge collection with the daring eyeshadow palette with the deep red shadow.

For Spring 2017, rather like their luxury rivals, Chanel has brushed aside the typical pale pastels or pinks and gone for a warmer toned, bolder coloured collection. This, they say, embodies Coco Chanel’s original use of colour. Lucia Pica says that these codes on how to wear the colours are for you to decide. Wear them bold or wear them light. Wear them together or wear them separately. Wear a deep purple lipstick in Spring – it’s your code! I love that sentiment – it’s just makeup – do what you want with it! 🙂

So, there are no hard and fast rules, and so I won’t write very much, just show you the pictures of the few items I have, for your consideration. You could tell me though, how you’d wear them 😉

The Good, The Mediocre and the Ugly of Dior Colour Gradation Spring 2017 collection

February 8, 2017 Paris B 12 Comments

Spring makeup collections usually bore me. So do Summer, come to think of it. I usually fall asleep till the Fall-Winter makeup pop up because colours start looking more saturated and bolder, and pastels take a back seat. This time around however, the Dior Colour Gradation Spring 2017 collection gave me a jolt of surprise.

Hello? This doesn’t look like a Spring collection does it?

Often, for Spring makeup, Dior is the quintessential embodiment of pastel colours. Just take a look at some of their previous offerings in Spring 2016, Spring 2013 and Spring 2012. Usually, we can expect something airy, pastel and girly from Dior. Not this time. The Colour Gradation collection brings to my mind the warmth and colours of Summer (don’t believe me? Tell me that Coral Gradation palette doesn’t remind you of Aurora! Or maybe you don’t remember it HAHA! 😀 )

I received some select pieces from the Dior Colour Gradation Spring 2017 collection, and incidentally, they’ve conveniently fallen into 3 distinct categories – the good, the mediocre and the downright ugly. So, here’s what I think 🙂

The Makeup Brush Collective Part 2 : Brushes I use for Eye Makeup

January 11, 2017 Paris B 10 Comments

We follow on from Part 1 of the Brush Collective (where I showed you my preferred brushes for face makeup) and head to the brushes I use for eye makeup. This is rather lengthy, as there is a lot for me to show you! Not because I’m showing off, but because I use different types of brushes for different applications and there are different brushes in each category.

I was never good at applying eye makeup. I actually started out using my fingers (which I still use in a pinch especially with cream eyeshadow sticks). Over the years however, with a lot of experimentation, I’d worked out the type of brushes I liked to use for a specific purpose, simply to make my life easier. I’m no professional makeup artist and I’m not even very good at doing eye makeup, so if you’re just like me, then these suggestions may help you get that one step closer to better looking eyeshadow application 🙂

The Libre de Chanel Holiday 2016 collection draws inspiration from the urban style but it is the colours that shine

December 19, 2016 Paris B 4 Comments

Chanel has a new creative director in Lucia Pica and she’s doing some interesting things that bears watching. Her first collection was the Le Rouge collection, with an interesting take on a Fall/Autumn collection and her first Christmas, or as some will have it, Holiday collection, is similarly different. The Libre de Chanel Holiday 2016 collection is a departure from festive reds and golds.

Like the Dior collection, I received this late, but I know it’s still available at the brand new Chanel Beauty boutique at Pavilion KL if you’re interested. (you’d want to visit, because there’s this amazing highlighter I’m going to show you that’s only available there!)

I’ll take you quickly through the few items I have here, and show you the beautiful limited edition Camelia de Chanel highlighter, that apparently isn’t yet available in many places. I’m not sure why, but it’s available here, and quite likely, flying off the shelves as we speak! 😛
