Eyeshadow

Of the 3 items I tried in the Clinique x Jonathan Adler, there is 1 that I will say is a must have!

August 17, 2017 Paris B 12 Comments

Do I pay a lot of attention to Clinique makeup? I’m afraid not. I know they do some solid pieces, but they aren’t what I’d call exciting, or even sexy. But the new, limited edition Clinique x Jonathan Adler collection is going to change that. Here is a collection I can get behind.

As Jonathan Adler said “My collection for Clinique is for women who want to crank up their glamour factor to eleven” Sign me up Jon!

And for a limited edition collection, one that promises not to break your bank. Clinique teamed up with designer Jonathan Adler, for a collection that shrugs off the more youthful, rather staid image of Clinique, and turns their makeup into art pieces, worthy of display in your flat lays, or in your makeup pouch. I mean, look at that lipstick! I was cooing all over it, enthralled by the beautiful geometric printed cover, capped by an acrylic, gem-like cabochon. I loved the look of the lipstick the most, and the wallet-friendly prices help you want to collect them all.

There is just one wee little down-side.

Head for a Chanel Cruise this summer and pick up a Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick Blush while at it!

June 12, 2017 Paris B 12 Comments

I’d been going on and on to anyone who’d listen, how terribly pleased I was that the Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick a.k.a the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow stick blush, is now permanent. I first bought mine in 2015 when it was limited edition (I thought it was last year, 2016! Goodness, time flies!) and I swear, it is one of my most used, and most well-travelled blushes!

And now, Chanel has expanded this little category to include a new shade! YAY!!

If there is one item you want to treat yourself with, one item from the Les Beiges collection you want to own, just ONE – pick the Healthy Glow Stick Blush. I promise, you will not be disappointed! 🙂

The new shade, which you see above, is No. 23, which, as you will see below, looks rather similar to No. 21 which I own, except this one now has a touch of shine. It is a warmed pink, and no. 24 is a deeper coral, also with a touch of shine that is very subtle and quite imperceptible.

I also have a few swatches and thoughts on some others items in the new Chanel Les Beiges and Cruise Makeup line-up, so hop along for the ride! (It makes a nice change from all the angst on the blog the past week hehe…) 🙂

Spring continues to lighten and brighten in the Chanel Energies et Puretes makeup collection

March 17, 2017 Paris B 6 Comments

I could apologise for coming in late with the limited edition Chanel Energies et Puretes le Blanc makeup 2017 collection. I could. But I won’t. I do wish brands would allow us consumers to catch our breath for a bit before throwing another large collection at us (and our wallets!)

I was sent some select pieces from the collection (else I’d never have known of its existence!) so I’ll do a quick post to show you what they are, and some quick thoughts on them, and if you’re truly interested, what I think is worth picking up (and what isn’t).

The Chanel Energies et Puretes collection is actually part of the le Blanc collection (whitening) and usually, this invokes brightness and light. But this is Lucia Pica, who has turned Chanel makeup on its head (in my view, and for the better!) so the collection isn’t what I’m used to seeing for a blanc collection, as it has all these beautiful bright shades interspersed with depth. I also found out that this collection has only just launched in the USA and parts of Europe (Asia usually gets the Whitening stuff first and exclusively), so if you’re interested, here are the items and my thoughts on them.

I was so moved by the Chanel Codes Subtils eyeshadow palette, I did a FOTD post!

February 23, 2017 Paris B 10 Comments

Truth to tell, I haven’t been very excited about many new makeup items for a while. But for some reason, this, rather unassuming, eyeshadow palette from Chanel grabbed my attention. It is the Codes Subtils 278 Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow Quad (RM230 | US$61), and it is part of the Coco Codes collection for Spring 2017 and is, rather unfortunately, limited edition.

I managed to hunt down one very recently (it was sold out when I first wanted it, but if you call around, you may still be able to find one) and I just knew that I’d have to give it a very quick shout out, because if you love neutral eyeshadow with just a hint of smokiness, you will be head-over-heels for this one.

Like all the post-2014 Chanel Les 4 Ombre eyeshadow palettes, the quality is sublime. The texture is soft, pigmented and easy to blend without fall out. The shimmer is understated and flattering, and the colours are rich (or as rich as they can be). Like Poesie, I can see myself wearing this nearly everyday and if I were the sort to hoard back-ups, this is a palette I’d have multiple back-ups of.

I suppose you could say that I love it! 😛 I don’t have a lot to say without gushing, so I’ll be sharing a quick look I did to show you why I love this palette so much.
