Spa Visit: Energy Day Spa at Great Eastern Mall, Kuala Lumpur

March 2, 2011 Paris B 15 Comments

Hello March.

MARCH! Where on earth did January and February go? And so in this heightened state of stress, I bring you a moment of relaxation. So come with me and unwind at the Energy Day Spa.

I was invited to pay the Energy Day Spa a visit, which I eventually did after much to-ing and fro-ing, some time early this year. I took a friend with me (paid) to get another independent opinion 😉 I’ve since decided to book a return visit because these tight shoulder muscles need some loosening, and I “knead” a good massage. Ha. Ha. 😛

I visited the Energy Day Spa at Great Eastern Mall, Kuala Lumpur. They have a branch at Mont Kiara too if that’s more convenient for you and they serve both men and women. The one at Great Eastern Mall in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur is surprisingly large for a spa located within a mall.

The waiting area is comfortable, and you are required to fill up a questionnaire if you’re new. Basic questions about medical conditions and whether you’d prefer your masseuse to use a softer or firmer touch. The male and female changing rooms are kept separate as is the relaxation lounge.

Ahh… the lounge! (and a special offer below!)

Spa Visit : Khareyana Spa, Petaling Jaya

January 12, 2011 Paris B 21 Comments

I’d mentioned the Khareyana Spa once before when I was there for a product launch. I was quite taken in by the place because it was so calming and relaxing. A couple of months ago, I finally had the chance to try the body massage and a mini facial at another product launch.

review khareyana spa massage petaling jaya

First of, the location of the Khareyana Spa in a bungalow in Petaling Jaya means that if you don’t have a car, you’d be hardpressed to get there. Its near Assunta Hospital, which is the best landmark I can give you.

Being in a bungalow, there is sufficient parking in the compound, and it has a homely feel. So once you step into the house, you literally leave your cares at the front door. Its done up in a Balinese style and what’s most intriguing is that the treatment rooms are located outside and accessible only by “stepping stones” while carp swim in the pool under your feet. If you are anything like me (blessed with poor coordination) and with oversized flipflops on your feet, you’d find yourself concentrating hard to make sure you don’t fall into the water 😛 But its probably just me 😛

Spa Village Kuala Lumpur at Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur

September 24, 2010 Paris B 11 Comments

A friend had a voucher for a Buy 1 Free 1 spa treatment at Spa Village Kuala Lumpur. Guess who was batting puppy-dog eyes to be the “Free 1” 😛

spa village kuala lumpur review

Spa Village Kuala Lumpur is on the 4th Floor of the Ritz-Carlton Residences (annexed to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel). Since its smack in the middle of the city, I was not expecting too much in terms of space, serenity and light. Boy! Was I mistaken!

spa village kuala lumpur review

Located off the Health Center on the 4th Floor, Spa Village only admits visitors aged 16 and up. Thank goodness for that! No screaming kids to kill the serenity of the place. It is set up like a tropical style garden with a pool, mock waterfall and day beds.

Spa Village at Pangkor Laut Resort : A slice of paradise

August 20, 2010 Paris B 31 Comments

A few months ago, I bit the bullet and went to the Spa Village on the privately owned Pangkor Laut Resort island off Pangkor Island. It was the most luxurious spa I’d ever experienced in one of the most luxurious and beautiful settings ever. It also cost me a pretty penny – very pretty penny indeed! My wallet still hurts thinking about it.

Spa Village at Pangkor Laut Resort

My spa package at Spa Village was an 80 minute Lomi Lomi massage and body scrub but I was told to come 1 hour earlier to enjoy the Bathhouse. What on earth was that? So I turned up 1 hour early to find out.

With every spa package comes the Bathhouse experience which is something no one should ever miss! The Bathhouses are separated into male and female territory so even if there are embarrassing slips of the sarong, its alright – you’re among your own kind 😛

When you enter the Bathhouse, you are assigned a locker where you store all your belongings and all your clothes. Yes, every single scrap so you are left stark naked. A sarong is then wrapped around you expertly by the attendant, your locker key is pinned to your sarong and you start your experience.
