Self-care is more than just a spa day

July 28, 2020 Paris B Leave a Comment

I have been thinking about the subject of self-care for a while. Self-care is a very important concept, but one which I feel has been rather commercialized. I’ve been thinking about it even more so since we’ve all been forced to stay indoors and avoid the most common methods of self-care that we’re accustomed to.

self-care at home

Self-care is something that I think we mouth platitudes about, but don’t really practice properly. Often, what we deem self-care is a trip to the spa, or some pampering in the form of a body massage or facial, or a bout of shopping.

I used to think the same, but now I view self-care differently. It is much much more than just a spa day 🙂

Luxuriate in the nourishing goodness of the L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil for soft, smooth skin

July 24, 2020 Paris B 1 Comment

It’ puzzles me that despite my enjoyment of using body oils, the L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil has eluded me.

l'occitane almond supple skin oil

This body oil has been a crowd pleaser since the day it was released, and when it crossed my radar recently, I decided to finally have a go at it.

Unlike common misconceptions about using body oil, it doesn’t leave you slippery, greasy or oily. If you think about it in the same way as using a facial oil, it is about the same principle.

A good body oil should sink into your skin, nourish it, leave it feeling moisturized, smooth and soft, all without feeling sticky or greasy or, in the case of a dry oil, dry to the touch.

And does the L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil live up to those ideals? 😀

If the budget permits then The Serum by Cle de Peau Beaute deserves a place on your beauty shelf

I’m going to tell you straight off that this is a splurge, and one I might never have tried, had I not been offered the opportunity to have a go at the Cle de Peau Beaute The Serum.

cle de peau beaute the serum le serum

Cle de Peau Beaute revamped their skincare range some time last year, streamlining them with the Key Radiance system that I shared with you here.

I don’t really want to repeat myself about what it is, and how it’s meant to work, so I’d suggest that you read about it in my previous post 🙂

What I’m going to share with you instead, is my thoughts on what I deem the star product in the range, The Serum.

The One Skincare Tip I’d Like to Share: Be practical

July 15, 2020 Paris B 4 Comments

I’m often asked to recommend skincare products for people, or I’m asked if a particular brand or product is worth trying, or if expensive skincare are worth the money.

For some reason, people put their trust in my recommendations, and while that isn’t entirely a bad thing, it’s not a good thing either. I don’t mean that consulting someone you trust is bad, but you must remember this one thing – they aren’t you.

be practical about skincare

They don’t know what your skin is like, or how it behaves. Everyone is unique, with their own unique flaws and problems. They don’t know your budget, or your genetic make up.

When it comes to skincare and making recommendations, I have one principle to hold on to, and one skincare tip to share, and it is this – Be Practical.
