If you don’t own the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush, you don’t know what you’re missing out on!

Can a girl have too many makeup brushes?

The answer, as it turns out, is Yes.

This is especially so, when you aren’t a makeup artist. What excuse do you have for owning 20 different foundation brushes, for example? I found none. So, I stopped cold turkey.

I stopped buying makeup brushes, and I stopped looking. I had enough, as my sizeable collection screamed at me from their storage drawers.

One day a year or so ago however, I chanced upon the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush, and something about it made me buy it.

And I have not regretted it since! 😀

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush

The Hourglass Vanish Seamess Finish Foundation Brush was released and sold alongside the Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation. It isn’t new in the beauty world.

Yet, it had always hovered on the periphery of my vision, never quite falling within my brush radar. The reason primarily, was because I was previously quite fixated with natural hair brushes.

While I don’t use natural hair brushes when working with liquid or cream foundation, I thought I had found all the face/foundation brushes I needed.

Well, naturally I was wrong!

Synthetic hair brush is soft on skin

The Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush is made of synthetic hair. This makes it feel very very soft on skin, and fits with the overall cruelty-free, vegan concept of the brand.

I used to dislike brushes with synthetic hair, but I have come to accept and acknowledge that technology has come a long way towards creating synthetic bristles with a luxurious feel.

Synthetic hair brushes are also non-irritating to sensitive skin, as they do tend to be less rough in texture. For this reason, should you have sensitive skin that is easily irritated, pick a makeup brush with synthetic bristles. There are many in the market these days.

Dense, tapered brush head fits into contours of face

The reason I’ve found myself reaching for the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush almost daily is two-fold.

The first is convenience LOL! 😛 It is sitting in my brush holder, so I tend to pick it up, as it’s just there staring at me!

The second however, is because I love the results after I use it.

I have been using my fingers to apply foundation for a while. This is due to both convenience and laziness. I could lie and tell you that it is because using fingers gives me a nicer result, or because the texture of the foundation warrants it. While both are true, it really comes down to laziness 😛 I’m honest that way.

Recently, I fell back in love with using a foundation brush after I reediscovered the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush.

The head is very dense, and coupled with the synthetic bristles, it feels like a soft, dense cushion on skin. The top of the brush therefore covers a wider area, and buffs product into skin without streaking.

The head, as you can see in the photos, is slightly tapered, which allows you to fit it into the contours of your face. This is especially useful for areas around your nose and lip area.

Makes foundation blend into skin with a seamless finish

The key reason I love using the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush is the result.

I still apply foundation using the 5-line technique, except these days, it’s a combination of the 5-line and the finger technique.

RELATED READING: Haven’t heard of the 5-line foundation technique? You’re missing out! READ HERE

Instead of dipping my brush into the foundation (I find it results in too much product on my skin – I use very little foundation, preferring a light, sheer coverage), I pump product on the back of my hand, pick up a dot with my finger, and dot it on my face.

Then, I use the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush, and buff it in. This technique and brush works very well with a more creamy textured foundation. It does an impressive job with the Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation, for which it was made for!

The result is a very natural, very smooth, non-streaky finish. The foundation is buffed into skin, blurring the effect of visible pores, and giving your skin an almost porcelain finish.

I love it! 😀

Sometimes, I use my fingers to apply my foundation, then pick up the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush and run it quickly over my skin, just quickly buffing it over my skin in little circles, to ensure that the product is properly blended. It delivers a similar result too.

This Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush is truly one of the best foundation brushes I’ve come across.

It is well constructed, the bristles are dense and cushiony soft, and the results convince me that sometimes, just sometimes, a makeup brush can make a huge difference to your makeup. This one certainly does!

If budget permits, I highly recommend this one. You likely will never need another foundation brush ever 😀

IN A NUTSHELL

The Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Brush is a dense, tapered synthetic bristle brush designed for use with liquid and cream foundation. The bristles are very comfortable and feel like a dense cushion on skin. The dense head allows you to buff product into skin without streaking, and it delivers a smooth, even finish. The size is portable, and the head is not too big nor too small. The tapered head allows it to fit into the contours of your face, so your foundation can be buffed into the areas around your nose and mouth easily. The handle is short, but a good size and fit even for smaller hands. I love the finish I get from this brush, and I love how it makes my nice foundations look even better on my skin. It is certainly one to own!

PROS:
Portable size
Synthetic bristles are very soft and non-irritating to skin
Easy to clean
Dense head allows for a streak-free finish on skin
Handle is the right size and length for holding and buffing product into skin
Tapered brush head allows it to fit around the contours of your face
Makes foundation look smooth and incredible on skin

CONS:
Rather pricey (but will last you years!)

WHO WILL LIKE THIS: Anyone who wants a good quality foundation brush that does not irritate skin and delivers a flawless, streak-free result

PRICE: RM208 | US$46 | £42

WHERE TO BUY: Sephora, Cult Beauty, SpaceNK

Do you own this Hourglass Vanish Foundation Brush and do you love it as much as I do?

I haven’t bought many new makeup brushes in a while, and I have my fair share of duds. But it would be remiss of me not to share with you one of the best finds I’ve found for liquid or cream foundation. Truly truly a game-changing experience! 😀

I have the brush and I agree, best foundation brush ever! I use is mostly with the Hourglass foundation stick, one of my HG foundation, so easy and natural looking. While it’s more expensive than I want to pay for a brush, I have no regret and will highly recommend it.

Oh I’m so tempted to try this one! It looks so fancy and the bristles look soft as a baby’s bum 😛

I’ve also got the Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation on my wish list. Late to the party I know lol… I just need to pick a colour for myself and don’t often go ‘in-stores’ when I can test colours out. I may just give in and try to pick one from photos online :/ The foundation oxidises a little doesn’t it Paris?

Popped out of my hermitage to visit the amazing Jo Popped out of my hermitage to visit the amazing Jo Malone installation at Mid Valley Megamall 😍 Jo Malone has always made gifting an experience, both for giver and receiver, and this is what their Jobots are here for - to help you find that perfect gift whether for a friend, family, or for yourself each time you manage to dodge the C-bullet 😆
Go check out the Jobots at Mid Valley Megamall Centre Court & experience their signature hand and arm massages, gift boxing, personalised engraving of your perfume bottles & candle jars & play with the vending machine. You could get lucky!
No prizes for guessing which Jobot installation was my favourite! The one with the dog of course! They also had a key chain with a dog. So. Bloody. Cute!!
And after so many years finally got a photo with event organizer extraordinaire @cyrus.chin because we didn’t get the white & beige memo and came instead in (unplanned) matching sunny coral instead 😂
It felt good to have makeup on, dress up and go out for a tiny little bit, and meet people I haven’t seen in literally years! Also to enjoy the scents (hard to smell with a mask on though) and the visual delights. Go check it out. They’re there at the Centre Court until Sunday 3 July.

I put on a full face of makeup today and when it came to my eyeshadow, I had a brain fart moment and forgot where they were! 😂 Looked through 3 drawers before I saw them and even then I thought “Did I ever have THIS MANY?!” I guess I do. And before you ask, yes they’re all expired 🫢
