A Wedding, An Outfit of the Evening (OOTE) and A Face of the Evening (FOTE)

wedding

Not mine 🙂

My little brother got married last week and I was back home, getting into the swing of things, catching up with relatives and having the best time ever dressing up for the wedding banquet! Chinese wedding banquets are the stuff of legends and there is no better time to dress up for it 🙂

There isn’t much to say, except that its a bit surreal seeing my little brother get all dressed up and married. It seemed like just yesterday that this big sister was being all mean and older sisterly to him. And now…well, I can still be mean and older sisterly to him! Rank is a wonderful thing to pull and you never lose that privilege! I guess I just have 2 people to bully now, SIL included hehe… 😀

The red cloth over the main door of the house also known as “ang chai” is put up on happy and auspicious occasions like weddings, Chinese New Year or any happy occasion. It brings good chi and happiness to the household and tells everyone there’s something happy going on 🙂

wedding firecrackers

There were firecrackers – shhhh… don’t tell anyone 😛

wedding cake

My SIL’s aunt baked her a wedding cake and this was the top layer. All hand made. Seriously CUTE!

wedding

There was a short lion dance presentation with scrolls of auspicious good wishes for the couple and then, there’s me 😀

I wore a deep midnight blue long dress which I hope to recycle for more dinners so I get my money’s worth! 😛 For my makeup, I went with a deep navy blue smokey eye (Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill #1 Blast of Blue and Dior Royal Kaki palette, Shiseido Perfect Mascara and Guerlain Kohl liner) to match my deep navy blue dress, and paired it with bright red lips (Rouge Dior #444 Red Muse over Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil) – because I’m predictable that way 🙂

Just a quick life snippet. As you were 🙂

OMG my baby bro tied the knot earlier this month! I know exactly how you feel about seeing your little bro suddenly becoming a man. It was pretty emotional despite me not usually being the sentimental sort. I cried buckets … embarrassing! But that doesn’t I’m going to cease bullying him!

Aww snap! What a coincidence eh? I didn’t tear up but I most certainly enjoyed having his tea served during the Chinese tea ceremony 😉 and you’re right. Our little bros will always be our little bros. they get bullied regardless! 😉

Forgot I had a question … did you encounter any “telling off”s for wearing a midnight blue dress at the wedding? Just wondering what the taboo situation is like these days. I wanted to wear a black dress but refrained from doing it at the eleventh hour.

And you look absolutely stunning in that dress! It fits you like a dream..and it’s so important that fishtails do.

Thank you 🙂 I checked first before I bought the dress but was told I could wear black if I wanted. I didn’t because I didn’t feel it was right, but this was fine with everyone 🙂

wow…the wedding cake is soooooooooo cute 🙂 and, it really does’t look handmade. even we put mango leaves on the doors to ward off the negative influences. were you the bridesmaid?? or, is there no custom like that??
your gown is lovely and yeah, as you said, can be easily recycled as well 🙂

Ohhh the Indians here put up mango leaves too! I never knew what it was for but now I do 😀 I wasn’t the bridesmaid because we didn’t have a church wedding (as we aren’t Christians) so my SILs friends were her bridesmaids as my bro had to go and pick her from her house 🙂 thanks for the kind words, Swati 🙂

It’s just so awesome to wake up on a Sunday to your blog on OOTE and FOTE with extra pictures for a sneak peek 🙂 Congrats to the newlyweds! Wow, it must be a grand wedding with lion dance presentation for well wishes to the couple.

That’s a very pretty dress paired with great makeup! Yeah, sometimes we go by each days of our lives without realizing that time flies…until my friend’s little brother gets hitched and my sister packed up for university. Then we wondered – it seemed only yesterday when they were so young and far from adulthood..

    That’s life I guess.

Thanks Jennifer 🙂 yes, life seems to be zipping by at the speed of light! Where are all our lazy days eh? Up to us now to press the pause button. It wasn’t very grand, but my bro wanted the lions just for the dinner. It was different and very much fun! I think most people enjoyed it (I know I did 😉 )

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
Thanks for the gift @tnsskinlab and I must apologise for my tardiness 😩 I’ll learn to cope better from next week!
Now I have to scuttle and write my year end musings. Some traditions must be kept! 😜
