That’s HOT! Rouge Dior Haute Colour lipstick in Red Muse

January 31, 2011 Paris B 30 Comments

“Haute Colour” should really read “Hot Colour” for that is what Red Muse #444 is. A hot red lipstick.

The whole brand-name-etched-on-the-lipstick thing may be a wee bit old by now, but I still love the look of any etched lipstick 😀

I’m a huge fan of Dior lipsticks – they were my first high end lipsticks when I started with Dior Addict and they have remained a firm favourite. Rouge Dior is the more pigmented version but I must confess to never really taking a shine to Rouge Dior, because it was always a little “old”. The texture was heavier than Dior Addict lipsticks and the colours stronger.

Last year, Dior did something absolutely wonderful. They overhauled their Rouge Dior line of lipsticks and the result is a beautiful range of creamy, silky, pigmented lipsticks that are stars on every front.

Red Muse is the signature red lipstick of the collection. One swipe produces nice pigmented colour that does not look heavy on the lips at all. The texture is very light on the skin and there is no fragrance nor does it feel waxy. The best part is that although is applies very creamy, it does not slip and slide everywhere and it wears well. Oh and it isn’t drying, unlike Chanel Rouge Coco. I love my Rouge Coco, but they do tend to get a bit drying on the lips.

In terms of colour, Red Muse, unlike its name swatches with a slight pink undertone that surprised me, but which I enjoyed very much.

Wear it with a neutral eye and softly flushed cheeks, and let the lips lead the eye 😀

Pros: Lightweight formula, Creamy but not drying, Pigmented colour, Applies like a dream

Cons: Pricey

Of course, Red Muse is the most extreme of the colours available. If you haven’t yet found your perfect red, go and take a look at this one. It might just sway you. I have also found colours to love in other more wearable shades so I might tell you about those next time 😀

Have you tried the new formula Dior Rouge lipsticks? Did you know they were made to match Dior’s classic dresses? Now that’s marrying fashion and makeup!

This looks gorgeous on you! I doubt it’ll work on my skin tone though. But it definitely is a gorgeous colour!

Happy Chinese New Year to you, by the way! 🙂

Yay I love love all Dior lippies and the Serum de Rouge is definitely a decadent splurge that is so worth it! 😀 Do try these new Rouge Dior lippies. They have the similar texture to Serum de Rouge but more pigmented.

i love dior’s lipsticks too! especially after being re-acquainted when they launched the serum de rouge. managed to get my hands on many sample sizes PWP and realised that dior’s lippies are so suitable for my dry and sensitive lips. after our ‘red lips’ gathering, i am now wandering away to find the right red shade for me… might try this one 🙂

YES! Dior lippies are the best ever. I don’t know why I don’t have more instead of hopping around trying others. Oh yeah I do know why. I’m a curious cat 😉 You look amazing in red lips Juan – definitely give the Dior range a try and see if you find one in there 😀

I think of buying one red lipstics for cny. Try the red muse but the color not suit me. However, didn’t go with empty hand. I bought rose chic which look nice on my skin tone. Love the texture of the lipstick. If thinking of buying lipstick should give dior rouge a try. U won’t regret. I may be purchase another one. 🙂

Ooh, it looks somewhat fuchsia-ish but is gorgeous still! I bought Dior lipsticks to my friends, but I’ve never worn one myself, can you believe it? I think I feel a bit guilty about splurging on myself.^^ But I’ll surely buy one someday – and it’ll be a red one.

I love how the pink undertone somehow makes the red a little more wearable, but still bold and bright!

One of my friend wanted to buy Dior Rouge Red but we couldn’t find the colour anywhere….I don’t mind buying this lipstick because RM98 and if its last for me for six month it’s definitely worth it….
