I had been reading so much about the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters on overseas blogs. The raves have been outstanding! These have been hailed from everything from the best lipsticks ever to the best tinted lip balms. Quite a large contrast there don’t you think?
Well ladies, the Revlon Lip Butters are finally here in Malaysia so we can work out for ourselves if they are really all that! 😀 I spotted these only at Watson’s pharmacies for now retailing at a pocket friendly RM25 each (I found out they are S$15.90 in Singapore – quite a bit more pricey after conversion!). I looked in a couple more pharmacies but didn’t see them – I’m told they are only officially due here in March 2012, so I guess Watson’s got a special preview or something 🙂
I have here 3 colours in different ends of the colour spectrum to try out. Barring the red one, the other 2 are quite a challenge but I intentionally picked up Strawberry Shortcake (pale pink) because I wanted to challenge myself to wear something out of my comfort zone! 😀
This post just serves as notification and a preview for now. I didn’t have time to try them out properly yet so I can’t bring you a proper review.
Left to Right: 070 Cherry Tart, 080 Strawberry Shortcake, 030 Fig Jam
These Lip Butters from Revlon are a balm-lipstick hybrid. Moisturizing lipsticks with medium pigmented colour and a light balmy feel on the lips. They have even been compared to the Dior Addict Iconic Lipsticks which is really saying something. I’ll try to bring a comparison post some time 🙂
Here in Malaysia, we will get 8 shades and I quickly tested them at the counter to see which ones appealed to me, and what the colours actually looked like on the skin as opposed to a computer colour swatch. You will just have to rely on my linguistic observations and descriptions, since I don’t have swatch photos 🙂
020 Brown Sugar – A nude brown tone that swatched on my skin very light (I wasn’t attracted to this because it just looked like glossy lipbalm on)
025 Peach Parfait – A shimmery sheer peach (I wasn’t attracted to this because the shimmer was chunky, the colour was sheer and the texture did not feel as smooth as the other colours)
030 Fig Jam – A deep brown that applies sheer and on lips turns into a sheer berry. A surprise colour choice and one I have been liking!
070 Cherry Tart – A bright cherry red that applies more pigmented than the others with a balmy texture and noticeable shimmer
075 Lollipop – A grape shade that like Cherry Tart applies more pigmented than the others and has no noticeable shimmer. Texture is balmy.
080 Strawberry Shortcake – A sheer pale pink that applies semi pigmented and is a very fresh girly shade on the lips. Texture is balmy with no noticeable shimmer
085 Sugar Plum – A deep plum shade that applies semi pigmented and has no noticeable shimmer, with similar balmy texture.
096 Macaroon – A deep red with balmy texture and semi pigmented colour. The colour is quite close to Cherry Tart but a little deeper.
Based on early observations, I noticed that some colours have noticeable shimmer in them which come off a little chunky and the texture of the lipstick feels a bit gritty. Peach Parfait gets a lot of raves and I was interested in it but it looked washed out against my skin and the gritty shimmer put me off it so I’d likely never get it.
I also noticed that some colours are more sheer than others – Brown Sugar, Fig Jam and Peach Parfait apply like a tinted lipbalm. The rest apply like a balmy moisturizing lipstick so take your pick accordingly.
I will bring a proper review soon but with the long weekend ahead here in Malaysia, I thought you’d better have a heads up so you can all descend on Watson’s and clean them off their Lip Butters, like a cloud of locusts 😉
Are you planning to pick up a Revlon Lip Butter? Which colour are you eyeing? Have you too been swayed by all the raves about the Revlon Lip Butters from overseas? 😀
Update: Review on Strawberry Shortcake and Fig Jam and what I think of the Lip Butters here.

I don’t know if this is out here in Australia yet, because I’ve heard of a few bloggers who had to get these on eBay. I’m definitely interested in checking these out just to see what the hype’s all about. Everyone (well, in the beauty blogging community) can’t stop talking about it!
Paris B says
I’m sure you’ll get them in soon – although I find it a little funny how sporadically brands release their products. You got the DNA foundation before we did, and now we get the Lip Butters before you do!
Ling says
I cracked mine open…and was pleasantly surprised…but then again, I had read that they aren’t really that buttery…but I like them 🙂
Paris B says
Good to know you like them Ling – I’m still reserving judgment 😉 Which colour did you get?
Ling says
I got Macaroon and Pink Truffle. I wanted Lollipop but HK didn’t have them…
LeGeeque says
I’m going to see who I can bribe to bring these over 😀 Fig Jam reminds me of Clinique’s Almost Lipstick Black Honey that I’m dying to try. I’ve been experiencing flaky lips these days and have been on a steady diet of lip balms. If these are tinted lipbalms, I’m sold!
Paris B says
I don’t think it’ll take much to bribe anyone to bring them along for you! 😀 I think you may like Fig Jam and Macaroon. Cherry Tart is nice but a brighter red so I’m not sure you’d go for that one 😉
MrsRance says
Ohhhh I am definitely gonna get it. I will be in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 16…can’t wait 😀 it’s not yet avail in my country. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Paris B says
Oh yay! I hope you find them – if you’re at Pavilion KL I know Watson’s has them 🙂
lavender says
I read some good reviews about this lip balm. Will not get them yet until I read your review. Ha …ha… I trust u more because of your integrity in blogging.
I can’t even finish using one lip product in a year (as I seldom use them – only apply once a day or none at all) so I am not to keen to add to my collection.
Paris B says
LOL! Well your wish is my command! Watch out for the Revlon Lip Butter coming soon, to a computer near you 😉
shusheshe says
I got two of these while I was in Canada; Fig Jam and Pink Truffle. Not all the colours were available, and many were sold out by the time I got to them. I’ve worn Pink Truffle a few times…I must say they’re pretty nice! And it seems like all the brands are getting into the lip balm/lip stick hybrid lip colours these days!
Paris B says
I did hear that in the USA and Canada, these were so popular and so hard to find! Over here, its relatively easy so I guess we have that to be thankful for. I think all brands are trying to lure in a new breed of customer, weaning them away from lip glosses or enticing the young crowd that prefer softer colours 🙂

I must be one of the craziest ones who rushed down to John Little at Marina Square for batch no.1 and then walked past Watsons the other day and picked up 2 more for batch no. 2. We only have 8 shades and I picked up 6 of them (the other two were Strawberry Shortcake and Peach Parfait) in total, namely, Sugar Plum, Brown Sugar, Macaroon, Lollipop, Fig Jam and Cherry Tart. Loving Sugar Plus, Brown Sugar and Macaroon right now.. will try out more of Fig Jam and Cherry Tart but I like them all as of now and probably will join some spree to try out Candy Apple and Red Velvet..check out my latest haul and review video on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcyT3Ig2Nt4&list=UU45-idxJaMYRCWNQkSW6K4Q&index=1&feature=plcp
Paris B says
LOL! You must be a huge fan! You’ve got practically all of them now 😀 We have 8 shades here too, just like in Singapore – hoping more will come in in the future.
Rin says
Now that I’ve read your review & a lot of comments here, well I’m going to get mine too. Hehe. I have my eye on Cherry Tart! ^^
Paris B says
Haha the review isn’t up yet though – but its coming tomorrow so watch out for that 😉
Rin says
Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry Paris. I should hv wrote your ‘introduction’ to the revlon lip butters if that’s the exact word to use? 🙂 Am so sorry…
Paris B says
Haha not to worry Rin 🙂 Just didn’t want you to be confused 😉 The full review is here.
Monstro says
Yikes! Me wants! I am eyeing the peach parfait and the fig jam! In truth I want the whole set!
Paris B says
Eeks! Peach Parfait is a bit meh but do try it out in person – you may like it 😀
Eli says
Syen and I met up for dinner yesterday. When I told her that it was out, we ran straight to Guardian (Watsons Midvalley doesn’t have them), shoved these two other girls aside and hogged the testers for the next 15 mins.
We beauty bloggers are a pushy pushy lot. =P
Paris B says
HAHA that must have been a sight! Did you pick up any? I know Syen already has a couple but did SHE pick up anymore? hehe…
Eli says
It’s Syen! Do you even have to ask? 😛 She got Macaroon while I picked up Macaroon and Fig Jam.
Shuaddict says
RM25 is a good price for them as they’re usd$5-8. It’s not the full range of colors yet but surely they will bring more in. I was going to hoard a few because just about everyone raves about these but now thanks to your post announcing the release of them back home i’ll get only one 🙂
Paris B says
I think Revlon did great with the pricing on this one – its a nice wallet friendly price for some quite nice products. I hope more colours will come in in the future. Which one did you end up getting? 😉
Brigita Amanda says
Wohooo…. Just got my self strawberry shortcake and macaroon. Soon will get more color. :D. Here in Indonesia we got over 10 colors, cost for 75K rupiah (RM26).
Just try out the strawberry shortcake, not loving it yet, maybe I should find way to work the color, I barely use pink on my lips.
Looking forward for your review 😀
Paris B says
Ah lucky you to get 10 colours! And the pricing is close so that’s really good. I really like Strawberry Shortcake for a pretty pink flush on the lips, but it works beautifully with a nice defined eye so try it that way 😀
milktea says
I was going to say no, until I saw your pix! Hope you can show some swatches soon, I will be v interested! 🙂 I’m trying to stop buying lippies and use up what’s in my stash this year… wish me luck… I’ll need it.
Paris B says
Your wish is my command – swatches and review comes up tomorrow! 😛 The easiest way to use up lipsticks is to just keep to just one and keep it in your bag and re apply throughout the day. You’d be surprised at how quickly you can actually finish it up!
zainab says

These look gorgeous – knew there was a reason I should have gone to Priceline yesterday! Look forward to your review.
Paris B says
I’m not sure if they’re out in Australia yet, but it should be soon 😀 Review coming soon!
Sherry says
I bought strawberry and parfait hehe.. Love them
Paris B says
Nice choices Sherry! 😀
Esther says
Oh my God Paris, there is quite a difference in the pricing of these in Singapore and Malaysia! I bought Peach Parfait yesterday and I bought Brown Sugar and Sugar Plum today!! Aiyo, if I haven’t been so kan cheong I could have saved a bit when I buy them in Malaysia 🙁 And to think these only cost between 6.49USD to 7.49USD (depending on where you get them in the US), tsk tsk tsk:( I also read from Biteki that these cost 1575JPY in Japan, just imagine the huge price difference! 🙁
Paris B says
I know Esther! I was shocked at the price in Singapore when I found out too. If you can get it from Malaysia, do – you end up saving quite a bit 😉
beaty says

Paris B says
Well if you aren’t into lipstick, try the Revlon Lip Butter – they are very light 🙂 Or wait for my review and see if its something you may like 😉
May says
It’s finally here, can’t wait to try out ever since I hear raves from here: http://www.frmheadtotoe.com/2011/12/revlon-lip-butters-review-swatches.html.
Paris B says
Yup! Have you picked your colours yet? 😉
Lisa says
i’ve tested these out last weekend. And i very nearly bought several of these. Too pretty to resist. But i’m glad i did coz’ my 2012 resolution is also “no impulse buys”. I’m now awaiting your review. Particularly want to see how fig jam and strawberry shortcake looks on you. 😉
Paris B says
LOL! I love your resolution and you’re a good girl for holding back. After all, these are permanent 😉 The review is coming up very soon – tomorrow in fact 😛
