Ever had shoes make you feel like a Princess? These Cole Haan Air Talia ones did!

February 5, 2012 Paris B 35 Comments

Some days, the stars align in ways I donโ€™t even think about or understand. But when it does, magic happens!

Like when I walked into the Cole Haan store on a whim (I had some vouchers) and realised that there was a sale on and the sale was ending that very day!

Or like when my eyes fell on this pair of shoes from the sale rack.

It looked quite normal on the shelf, until I slipped it on my feet, looked into the mirror and was immediately transformed into a Princess!

Granted the only princesses I know are Disney princesses, but I felt like that moment when Cinderellaโ€™s fairy godmother waved her wand, chanted Bippity Boppity Boo! and turned her into a princess. It was like that, except without a fairy godmother, wand nor incantation ๐Ÿ™‚ I just kept staring in the mirror because Iโ€™d never seen a pair of shoes make my feet look so dainty and delicate before!

This pair of shoes have been a long time in coming. I tried on a pair of Cole Haan shoes many years ago and they are super comfortable. They have Nike Air technology so the footbed is cushioned and fairly comfortable. But couldnโ€™t bring myself to pay for them back then. I still canโ€™t now, to be honest but having vouchers help of course ๐Ÿ˜‰

Incidentally, they still had this in my size which was a surprise. Most of the time, sale racks no longer have my size, especially when its at the tail end of the sale. The shoe is a sling back which is a style I happen not to like very much, but which felt so comfortable on. I was assured that the buckle could be moved along if it loosens and I was pleased to note there was no elastic that could over-stretch like my last pair of slingbacks did.

There are a couple of nice touches in the box when I got home and looked inside.

  • Shoes are kept in separated shoe bags โ€“ the shoe bag is divided into 2 so each shoe sits in their own compartment and donโ€™t rub against each other and scratch. Very thoughtful!
  • There were spare heel bits included! I donโ€™t know what you call those bits at the bottom of the heel that wear out as you walk but there was a little envelope with a pair of these bits in the box, so you can easily get a cobbler to replace them with original pieces. Again, very thoughtful!

I guess thats the value-add in a pricey shoe! ๐Ÿ™‚

This is about the priciest shoe Iโ€™ve ever bought, which goes against my policy of not paying too much for shoes, since they wear out quite quickly. RM350 has been the most Iโ€™ve ever paid thus far, but Iโ€™m very happy with my purchase and I plan to stop by the Cole Haan store the next time they go on sale.

In case, you know the stars align again and I snag a great deal ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bippity Boppity Boo! ๐Ÿ˜€

Do you have a pair of shoes that make you feel like a Princess? Or do you own Cole Haan shoes and know how they hold up with wear? I saw some beautiful knee high boots in there I was so tempted to buyโ€ฆ except I had to have sanity reign. Boots? In the tropics? Yes Iโ€™d definitely need magic to justify that ๐Ÿ™‚

Thatโ€™s a lovely pair of heels! Definitely something Iโ€™d choose for myself too ๐Ÿ™‚
I used to have a pair of black suede peeptoes pumps which makes me feel like a million bucks but I think I misplaced it because I canโ€™t find it at home (Malaysia or Australia) ๐Ÿ™

Oh well, time to start searching for another pair! ๐Ÿ˜›

    This looks very chic!

I would love to be able to wear sling backs. The strap often slip off my ankle to my heel. Very annoying.

Thanks Shay and yes! I used to have that problem with sling backs too, which is why I shy away from them. But these fit very snugly and there is no elastic, just manual buckles, so perhaps I can adjust them if they get loose? These are patent leather though so I donโ€™t expect them to stretch out very much.

I like the peep toe and ribbon! I like ribbons on shoes. haha.

And wow, it is so nice to have spare heels given. I remember once, my heels just tore off the screw, and for that entire day, when I walk the screw would knock the ground to create such a piercing sound.

In the end, I got the cobbler to put on another piece of rubber though, but that was a few weeks later.

Ribbons make shoes look so dainty, donโ€™t they? ๐Ÿ˜€ I was so surprised when I opened the box and found the spare heels โ€“ I was wondering what they were initially. I mean usually we get extra buttons with clothes, but this is the first time Iโ€™m getting spare heels! ๐Ÿ˜€

At a normal retail price, its pricey. But on sale, it was just a little bit pricier than say, Clarks and even cheaper than Geox ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not a shoe that would make me a princess but shoes I had always trusted for comfort is Clarks. Though pricey but definitely a good investment ๐Ÿ™‚

I love Clarks shoes too! They are always very comfortable and fit my feet well. Their designs do tend to be a bit old fashioned but you canโ€™t beat them for comfort ๐Ÿ™‚

Very pretty. But i say no to sling backs. Had a couple of prior bad experiences with it. The back sling part somehow always slip off my feet as i walked. Any ways to remedy this? I have tried tightening the strap but to no avail.

Iโ€™ve had the same bad experiences with sling backs so I hope these will break the jinx ๐Ÿ˜› My previous pairs had an elastic bit that loosened over time but this one doesnโ€™t so I hope it holds up! ๐Ÿ˜€
