A very Guerlain Christmas to make you the Belle de Nuit

November 9, 2011 Paris B 40 Comments

I was such a grumpy puss this morning! I still don’t like the whole nude/naked NAME for neutral palettes (I like neutral palettes) but we’ll leave that discussion over there – some interesting conversations going on in there 😉 I promised I’ll make up for my grumpiness with something pretty and eee!! here we are! Something pretty! 😀

I shouldn’t be allowed near a Guerlain counter, I swear. Put me near one and before I know it I’m whipping out the plastic at the cashier till. I don’t know how it happens. It just does.

I haven’t been near one for a while but yesterday, I had a little time to kill so I wandered around and as fate would have it, wandered by the Guerlain counter. Lo! and behold! The Christmas collection was out and it was a collection I’d been watching out for!

Before I knew it, I was at the cashier counter handing over the plastic. Ah! The Guerlain syndrome strikes again! 😀 But let me show you what I got and how pretty it is 🙂

I was there really to check out the Guerlain Parure de Nuit pressed powder and blush. Its the one with the peacock feather motif if you remember. This is the problem with Christmas collections being released too early. I bet you none of you remember this one already because the hype is over 😛 But never mind, here’s a reminder 😉

Isn’t that pretty? I swiped the tester at the counter and I cannot see how this one can work as a blush except for the very fair. The red isn’t quite enough to deposit enough colour on the cheeks. BUT! BUT … it is lovely as only a Guerlain pressed powder highlighter can be!

There is a little shimmer to the powder and the red, whilst not quite blush standard, adds warmth to the skin. I haven’t defiled mine yet but if anyone wants an indepth review, holler and I’ll oblige. It’ll break my heart, but I’ll oblige 😉

Another pretty item in the range is the Guerlain Perles de Nuit Meteorites. The loose balls version. We know I love my Meteorites balls right? 😀

I was sent this one and I find it more powdery than the normal Meteorites. It arrived looking just like you see here, powdery. I also find the balls a little more powdery and its actually easier to pick up on the brush. I’ve used it a few times, and unlike regular Meteorites balls, I find this one a little more shimmery. It gives a very pretty very subtle highlight though and my skin looks simply AMAZING with this one on. If you don’t like the regular Meteorites, or can’t see what the fuss is about Meteorites you will not like this one. But if you are a fan of the Meteorites loose balls or a fan of very subtle highlighting powder that just pulls your makeup together, take a look at this one.

Are the 2 powders the same? No they aren’t. The loose balls are more shimmery and the pressed powder is less so. Also, I find the pressed powder warmer than the loose pearls. But then, that’s just me trying to justify having both 😀

The theme for Guerlain this Christmas is Belle de Nuit which is dark, with a teal edge which is reflected in all the packaging in one way or another.

The Perles de Nuit Meteorites come in a teal tin, the Parure de Nuit pressed powder and blush comes with a teal brush and the velvet pouch is lined with teal satin. The insides of the boxes also have a teal lining which has a very midnight sort of feel. Very different and very unique. I can always count on Guerlain to be a bit different 🙂

I passed on the eyeshadow palette. It was pretty and I was very tempted, but the colours were too normal looking. Dark Blue, Teal, Silver-grey and black are just too easy to dupe.

Oh and I know I didn’t like the packaging for the Rouge Automatique lipsticks but I got one anyway because the colour Nuit d’Amour no. 170 was too unique to pass up.

I’ll bring you swatches of this one soon. It surprised me so much I just had to have it LOL!

You won’t like to hear this, but the whole collection is limited edition and there are very limited stocks of everything available locally. I got mine at Isetan The Gardens and there aren’t many Guerlain counters in town so if you want an eyeful of these, best to head on down as quickly as you can.

Does any item in the Guerlain Christmas 2011 collection get your attention? Is anyone else a Guerlain fan as I am 😀

Paris B

Guerlain Parure de Nuit Pressed Powder and Blush retails at RM214, Guerlain Perles de Nuit Meteorites retail at RM179 and the Rouge Automatique retails at RM114. Guerlain counters are at Parkson KLCC, Parkson Pavilion, Sogo, Isetan The Gardens, Tangs Pavilion and I believe, Sephora stores too.

Eeeeeeeee! (Yes, all of those Es were necessary.) What a gorgeous, gorgeous collection! I’m head over heels for your photos – I don’t know; there’s just something about seeing all three of these products together that amps up the “eee!” factor tenfold. 😛

I want that Rouge Automatique! I’ve seen swatches of it online and it just kills me because it’s so pretty! It’s DARK pink!

However, I already bought the game of the year, and I am officially broke AGAIN.

I like balls. *snickers* I have only a mini Meteorite pot, but once I start getting a regular paycheck, imma gonna save up to be able to splurge on a new full sized pot at least once a year *gungho*

Yeah the Meteorites balls or “shiny balls” as some people call them get lots of giggles 😛 And you won’t need a tub a year m’dear! It’ll last you a lifetime! 😀 Glad to know you’re liking the pot you have enough to consider a full size purchase 😀

Oh then you’re in luck! Guerlain releases a limited edition tin of Meteorites every year or twice a year 😛 I used to know someone who collected the Meteorites and had so many! They were pretty though to look at.

Colours like this make me wish we had winter here because I think it will look AMAZING! Then again the weather is making up for it by thundering and raining up a storm so… maybe that’s good enough then 🙂

You need to do a fotd with the lippie! I know darker lips are do hot for this season,

Quite honestly, I’ve never been completely in love with Guerlain except for a few of their fragrances. Although this looks like a nice collection and the highlighter blush is pretty but I’ll likely give this collection a miss.

I think this collection is really one for Guerlain fans because its got their staples – Meteorites balls, pretty pressed powder, eyeshadow palette and lippies 😀 Non fans may not find much to like but fans will be sucked right in. Oops! 😉

I read your post from my iPad while in bed this morning. So, when I was getting ready for work, I dug out my long-forgotten meteorites and then wondered why in the world do I not use it everyday! It’s brilliant! Like you, I have a soft spot for Guerlain, will be checking it out over lunch today 😉

Juz recently i went to Isetan The Gardens to have a look at their pressed powder…. but the SA (the older, skinnier n darker one ) was super not helpful n very rude i can say…. maybe she oredy assume that i won’t buy n she doesn’t want to waste any energy explaining or maybe becoz i was interupting her chat with the other SA….oh well, let’s see if i want to give Guerlain another chance in the future, then i must go to another SA ( actually i was surprised by her attitude coz normally SA of higher end products will treat u like princess … )

Ahhhh…I’m lemming after that peacock blush/highlighter/powder myself. It looks gorgeous! I’m sure it’ll dig deeeeeeeep into my bank account buying it here in Australia, but it definitely looks like a worthwhile collection item to have. For some odd reason, I seem to be trending more towards collecting all these limited edition makeup now versus those normal functional looking ones. LOL!
