Burt’s Bees All in One Wash is a Jack of All Trades…

February 22, 2011 Paris B 15 Comments

All in one, and master of none.

review burts bees all in one wash

That’s exactly how I felt about the Burt’s Bees All in One wash. This was a swap exchange as part of a Burts Bees grab bag from the USA and its taken me a while to get round to actually using anything in there. I’m new to Burts Bees. Not new to the brand, just new to using it.

And the All in One wash is a bloody bad introduction to the brand 😛

Its a wash you can use to wash your hair, body and face. Perfect for travel, you might think. Just carry 1 product instead of 4. However, I found it lacking on all fronts when I took it with me on a trip out of town recently.

For the hair, my hair felt dry after washing but heavy like it was being weighed down. It is a very odd feeling.

For the body, it cleans decently and isn’t drying.

For the face, I disliked it most of all. It cleaned about as well as it cleaned the body, but my face felt dry thereafter and it didn’t feel clean. It was all very mind boggling and odd.

The only thing going for it is the light fresh menthol scent. Perhaps if you take it out camping or to the wild outdoors, it will be a very refreshing treat to wash away grime, and you’d likely be less critical of it as I am. But I’m a creature of the concrete jungle and so I’m picky 😛

The product is supposed to be an all natural plant based cleanser that lathers up to a rich foam. It only lathered up minimally for me. And for the piece de resistance, it gave me contact dermatitis.

ingredients burts bees all in one wash

It appears my hands are very sensitive to some ingredients in organic products which tend to contain natural plant based ingredients in higher concentrations. After about 4 days of using this Burts Bees All in One wash (natural but not organic), I found the palms of my hands starting to have those water capsules that signal the start of an allergic reaction. I stopped using it thereafter and went back to my regular body washes, shampoos and facial washes and the allergy went away. I tried using this All in One wash again and within 2 days, the pustules appeared again. Needless to say, I’m no longer using this one.

Pros: Handy for travel especially to the outdoors, Nice fresh scent

Cons: Gave me contact dermatitis, Weighed hair down and felt dry, Did not seem to clean the face very well

Was I harsh? Yes I think so too but it was harsh to me too 😛

Tried this? Love it? Hate it? I know that Burts Bees has opened stores locally in Malaysia (Klang Valley) but I haven’t bought anything from them and I don’t know if this one’s stocked here. If you do and you know the price, holler! 😉

*hangs head in shame* Yes Alene. It was my fault… but it came in the grab bag and I was curious 😛 I’m going to see what else is in that grab bag – maybe there’ll be something else interesting in there that won’t give me an allergic reaction 😛

Ouch. I hate these all-in-one products. If they work, why the heck are there so many different products out in the market?

Burt’s Bees does an awesome coloured lip balm range. I’ll try and send you a stick one of these days. Of course you don’t need another lip product but what’s stopping me? 😛

I’ve never had much luck with Burt’s Bees products; I guess too many irritant ingredients for my sensitive skin. Their lip balm is great but their skincare line is not worth it.

Seriously? Too many irritants when they are supposed to be natural isn’t a good sign. I’m now quite leery or trying anything else 😛

My baby uses the Baby Bee Body Wash and Lotion. They worked great for his super sensitive skin with eczema. I love the lipbalm. But the acne spot solution don’t work for me 🙁 and not to mention the super expensive price here!

Thanks and I’m glad it works for your baby. I’ll give some of the other products a go – maybe they aren’t as bad as this introduction to the brand was 😛
