Adventures in Makeup: How adventurous are you with colour? Yellow and Pink blush anyone?

February 22, 2011 Paris B 40 Comments

Lookee! A yellow and pink blush!

A yellow and pink blush??
  • Save

Now who’d ever have thought of that?

Anna Sui of course 🙂 This yellow and pink blush is part of a trio of 3 limited edition blush duos released with the Spring 2011 collection.

I received this last week and I’ve been looking at it from all angles since, wondering how would be the best way to use it. Should I use the pink for colour and yellow as a highlight?

Should I blend them both and hopefully create an orangey shade that might even border on peach? Both colours actually look to be a little cool toned and quite pigmented.

I looked around online but no one seems to have these blushes or any tips to share. So I’m turning to all of you clever ladies 🙂 How would you wear a blush like this one?

Are you adventurous with it comes to makeup colours? I’ve done barbie pink for lips and hot pink for eyes but this one’s really stumping me, for some reason maybe because of that yellow … help? 😉 Or do you have a colour you find hard to wear too? Maybe we can all help 🙂

Paris B

The Anna Sui Double Cheek Colour in Pinkish Yellow #03 is limited edition for Spring 2011 and retails at Anna Sui counters for RM91. There are 3 shades available – 01 Blooming Pink, 02 Healthy Orange and 03 Pinkish Yellow

Urghh that’s a tough one. I think I’d mix them both I guess.. But use the pink tone more than the yellow. Would look pretty healthy, I think.

I’m thinking the same thing. That yellow is really bright though. Sigh…

If it were me, I would NOT use the yellow part at all! ^.^ Color-wise I’m getting a teensy bit more adventurous now. Gold, green and blue eyeshadows for a daily “look” anyone? ^.^

Oh I have to use the yellow… I’m sure its in there for a reason. Although just looking at it, I didn’t want to use it either 😛 Bright colours are great for a daily look… provided you don’t have to work in a conservative office hehe…

I think you can try and mix both colors and see if you can get a peachy pink color 😉 Lovely details but I might not buy this myself coz… I am not “Anna Sui”-adventurous :p hehe

I’m wondering too if I might end up with a peachy pink. My only fear is ending up looking jaundiced! 😛

LOL. Jaundiced. It’s real pretty tho, the arabic prints!

Maybe two swipes of pink + one swipe of yellow = peachy.

hehe, i think I would try them individually, pink for blush and yellow for highlight to see how it goes and then mixing them together. It would create different effects for different occasions, if it works both ways, it’ll be good as a travelling kit wouldn’t it? 1 blush to rule them all! haha

It would be interesting to see what the yellow shade would do to other pink blushes. I have Shu yellow lipstick, which does fun stuff to all my pink and red lipsticks 🙂

Ooh I’ve never been THAT adventurous with lipstick! I’m only just starting to get into pink lipsticks myself. 😛 What sort of fun stuff happens with a yellow lipstick? Something tells me its something I should investigate 😛

🙂 It makes blue red lipstick more orangey red lipstick 🙂 More wearable for me as my skin is yellow based. Also pink lipstick goes more pinky coral. I kinda forgot all about it, until I saw your yellow blush post lol.

Ahh perhaps its the same then! It could probably turn the pink into coral. Gotta give it a go 😀

I wonder how yellow it’ll look on me as I have quite yellow skin to start with, I have a feeling it’ll look like I made a mistake applying yellow e/s on my cheeks rather than the eyes 🙂

LOL! I’m thinking that might be how I’d look too – but that said, you could then replicate this, by using yellow eyeshadow 😀

I think you can use the blush in 3 ways!

1st way is to use a brush and swipe it starting from the pink to the yellow to get a more pink colour that gives a hint of light yellow

2nd way is to use the other side first, this will give you a lighter shade and more of a highlight effect

3rd is to blend both evently and swipe it on your face to give a natural glow and a light blush

I actually tried it today and its just too yellow whichever way I use it! Definitely suited for warmer skintones. The pink is pretty though.

Haha yeah I’m pretty adventurous myself but this is quite a strange combination for blush eh? In an eyeshadow it sorta makes sense.

I’ve got an yellow eyeshadow that looks good on me, mainly if I mix it with a golden one – or a coppery one, for that matter. I think it’s best if you used the yellow part as an e/s than a highlighter, otherwise people will ask you if you’re sick.^^

Or you could try swiping it once over your cheeks (very sheerly), than layering another blush on top – one without yellow undertones and more on the red side. Then it could actually become coral. I don’t think the pink blush that comes in the pan would do the trick.

I liked how the palette looks, though. It seems like lace was thrown on top of it. I love cute makeup!^^
