Greed is one of the 7 deadly sins many of us will identify within ourselves. And Greed is what I felt after using the Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow palette. I now want more! Isn’t that just Greedy of me? 😛
Seriously though, it would be awesome to get my hands on the other Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palettes. If you’ve read about these online (and I’m sure you have!) you’d know how everyone complains about how Greed is the suckiest of the lot. Not having any others to compare to, I say that on its own its not sucky at all! It is in fact, very nice for the price you pay – all of US$5 (RM15 at today’s exchange) at Non-Pareil Boutique where mine came from. $5! Makes you really wonder how they look and you’ll find out from the swatches below 🙂
The Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palettes come in a palette of 6 eyeshadows – 3 matte and 3 shimmer. Now lets be honest. The the shimmer shadows do feel a little gritty to the touch and there is some fall out when you apply, if you aren’t careful. The matte shadows are a little flat but not chalky. They all swatch very pigmented though, which impressed me to no end.
The top row are the matte shadows and the bottom row are the shimmer shadows. Just roughly, the colours are from top – matte cream, matte peach, matte black, shimmer lilac with gold shimmer, shimmer peach with gold shimmer, shimmer black with silver sparkles.
The shimmer lilac on the skin isn’t very pigmented, but you should see the transformation if you layer it over the black and blend it in. It takes on a very unique shade that is gorgeous! I’ve tried to show you as close as possible how this happens in the look below.
I mixed the shimmer and matte black and apply it close to the lashline and smudged into the corners. Then, I take the lilac and apply it over the lid, blending it with the black. You can see that there is a metallic silvery tone to it. I highlight with the shimmer peach.
I’ve done just as well with a similar technique, but using the matte and shimmer peach as a lid colour for a more neutral look and it all really comes together very well. For its price, I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever.
Pros: Very affordable, Pigmented colours, Easy to blend
Cons: Not very finely milled, Unavailable in Malaysia
Mine came from Non-Pareil Boutique along with a bunch of other stuff and if you plan to place an order with them, I’d suggest you get some friends together to share the shipping costs else the US$5 palette might just turn out a little more pricey than you expect.
I’m contemplating getting Envy Pride, which is a green toned palette. I’m just not feeling those shades of green however. I’ll think about it the next time I contemplate an order 🙂 If you have tried any of the Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palettes, are you as impressed with them as I am? I mean, I’m a bit of a makeup snob but these $5 palettes are quite something! 🙂

Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palettes retail at about US$5 each in the USA. They are unavailable in Malaysia but you can purchase them from Non-Pareil Boutique which ships worldwide.

You’re welcome! It certainly is very pretty 🙂

Get Lust instead of Pride (the green/blue palette) for the 6pc palette and check out the Steal My Thunder trio. You might be better pleased with the Cool as Cucumber trio if you’re looking for greens – amazing texture and pigment. Knock on Wood and 2 more trios with neutral shades whose names I can’t recall are worth checking out too if you’re into neutrals. These ColorIcons are miles better than L’oreal, Revlon and Maybelline shadows! They are even better than NYX! They come quite close to Urban Decay shadows actually, veeery close! 😀
ParisB says
Thanks for the recs! I’ll wait till I see them online since we don’t get the brand here. I have to admit the ColorIcon palettes are very impressive and you’re right, the shimmer shadows are quite similar to Urban Decay. There’s fall out if you aren’t careful too 😛

I want green!
For a moment I thought WnW were back in Msia. Loved their lip and eye liners when they were here, I used to buy them like kids buy Luna colour pencils. They were very cheap and good for experimenting.
Do you know if WnW sells in Thailand? We’re headed there soon so if they’re there, can hunt for them.
ParisB says
Nope no WnW in Thailand either 🙁 I used to love playing around with the products too. Too bad they aren’t around anymore. If you really want a green palette, let me know in case y’know I make an order haha 😛
Nikki says
The shimmer black looks really nice! I wonder if it has chunky glitters? You look lovely with that kind of makeup!!!
ParisB says
Thanks Nikki! The glitter isn’t chunky actually so its actually quite nice! 😀
Hanny says
I used to have a Wet and Wild lipgloss in a nude-ish color when I was 13… hmmm… When did they leave, I wonder? Anyways, nice colors! But I really can’t justify buying eyeshadows now. *Sighs* Perhaps a single one for doing me eyebrows?
ParisB says
They stopped bringing in WnW when Silkygirl was launched. They were being brought in and distributed by the same company but we didn’t get the eye stuff then. Just the lip stuff and pencils. Eye and cheek was what is now Silkygirl.

u know, i’ve actually learned so much abt makeup just reading your (and Connie’s) blog? before this i had no idea what “gritty” or “chunky glitter” or even the word “oxidise” for foundies meant!
and now i realize my Dior travel palette of 8 eyeshadows isnt great AT ALL for such a great brand.
8 colors, but the white, peach, champagne gold and lilac are basically all the same. just chunky gritty shimmer glitter that gives almost no color payoff. and er. er. i’ve had this palette for 8 months and i’ve only used 1 of the other colors, brown. which is very pigmented and lasting. so er.
but u always seem to know how to make weird colors in palettes work for you (Clarins hot pink, anyone?) and this looks great too!!
Hanny says
Try using a base color similar to them eyeshadows or use a black gel/cream eyeliner as the base. It may help the colors to show up better.
Also, you can try using an eye primer for the purpose. Good Luck!
Alene says
thanks for the advice Hanny, but unfortunately, that is THE ONLY eyeshadow palette i own. =P and i dont own any eyeliners. or lipsticks. or powder foundations, or primers. erk.
ParisB says
Lol! The hot pink was a surprise but the pink in the Guerlain Spring palette is actually much more wearable 🙂 And wearing bright colours takes practise and I’ve learnt that black shadow rights most bright shades 😉
As for Dior palettes, I find that the seasonal palettes or travel palettes are quite hit or miss. You’re better off getting the regular quints which are much better quality 😉
Lisa says
Amazing palatte for the colour, quality and price factors! You look great as usual, girl! Im definately going to take a second look at the website even though i’ve made my new year resolution to buy ‘much’ lesser makeup this year. haha.
ParisB says
The prices of these palettes sure are tempting right? Especially with the sort of quality it has. I’m keen to try some of the other ones now darnit! 😛
Alene says
oh btw, can i say baaaaa? as in sheep. cos i just read your “silicones – good/bad for skin” post and realized dimethicone is a silicone. sili me!
ParisB says
Haha… yes it is. Anything -cone is usually a silicone 😉
Mrs Top Monkey says
Ice cream cone? 😉
ParisB says
Which you know, is just as bad for me with my lactose intolerancy 😉
Sylvia says
Not bad for RM15. But I’ve already too many e/s to add more to my collection. Thanks for sharing, PB!
ParisB says
Don’t we all! 😉 In a way, its probably a good thing it isn’t available here or we’d all be sweeping it off the shelves 😉
Sylvia says
LOL.. how true, I was thinking of stopping by Guardian/Watson to check it out, but then I saw it is not available in M’sia and I heaved a sigh of relieve 😛
ParisB says
Haha!! If it was here, I’d have one in every shade! So… maybe its a good thing it isn’t 😉 Doesn’t stop me being greedy though 😉
gio says
It looks gorgeous! I hope these palettes will be available here soon.
ParisB says
Do you get Wet n Wild there? I hope you get them too! They are amazing for the price 🙂
aisyah de cullen says
I’m from malaysia as well and its very unfortunate that we don’t have wet n wild here, right? =( Anyway, just wondering, how do you order stuff? personally (with a few friends) or do you join spree? I’d like to know please..=) I joined sprees (100% of the time because Idk how to purchase it myself =P) and we all know the service charge can a bit…ehhh..XD do let me know if you’re planning to get more Wet n Wild stuff..^^
ParisB says
Hi! I usually place my own orders or I arrange with friends who want to order so we can split shipping. I don’t join sprees mainly because I don’t read many local forums and I just prefer to order it myself. If you have a credit card you can place your own orders very easily so you don’t have to wait for spreers to update 🙂
Sue says
If you don’t mind my asking, how much did you pay for shipping? I can’t find any info on the website itself.
ParisB says
The shipping differs depending on the number of things you order. I suggest you choose all your items then key in your address and calculate shipping. It’ll then update your cart. I had an order for 3 largish NYX palettes cost $12+ hope that helps 🙂
nia says
Hi Paris,
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you pay for your purchases?
I’m interested to order but I don’t have paypal and have always been deterred from signing up because of all the horror stories.
Do you think its safe to purchase using credit card?
Thanks!
ParisB says
Hi Nia. I pay using Paypal. You can link up your credit card to your Paypal account so your credit card details are never known by the other party. I started using Paypal a long time back when I was trading on ebay.com a lot. But now I use it for online shopping because I like the convenience. Its also supposed to be safer because if you have problems with your order you can open up a dispute through Paypal and possibly get back your money. I opened up such a dispute a few times in my ebay days but I happily have never had to for online shopping. I haven’t made purchases using my credit card so I’m afraid I can’t tell you how safe it is, sorry! 🙂
