Gift Idea: Wish for the Perfect Pout and get 6 gifts in one set

December 17, 2010 Paris B 9 Comments

Psst! Let me share a secret.

You know how sometimes you find yourself having to buy a gift for someone that you don’t quite know what to give, nor do you want to spend so much money on? Yeah I know its not a very nice feeling to have, but lets face facts right? This is where a gift set comes in very handy.

review photos smashbox wish for perfect pout

Take the Wish for the Perfect Pout set from Smashbox Cosmetics for instance. Its RM150 but you get 2 full size lip glosses and 4 mini glosses = 6 glosses you can repackage into 6 little gifts! And you have people going “Ooh! Smashbox!” 😉

Of course, if you were feeling generous, the whole set could go to just one person… or to yourself hehe… In my case, I kept 2  colours so I have two swatches below. Don’t tell my friends will ya? 😛

The Wish for the Perfect Pout set has 6 glosses, most of which are on the sheer and shiny side. Its great for the party season although if you like colour in your glosses, you might not quite like these as much.

The colours are:-

  • Luster – Sheer golden pink
  • Candid – Pink with gold shimmer
  • Baby Pout – Sheer shimmery version of Pout (available as permanent item)
  • Ecstasy – Shimmery blackberry
  • Divine – Golden Nude
  • Radiant – Shimmery pink plum

Radiant, despite the description, looks pretty sheer on. Here’s the swatch and how it looks on. Its quite pretty if you like a sheer shimmery sort of look for the lips and it goes very nicely with a smokey eye. It isn’t all that drama glittery though so you could still wear this in the day, or over lipstick for a bit of oomph! Being a gloss, it doesn’t quite last but it has pretty decent staying power through coffee and water. At least till lunch before I wipe off all my lip products anyway. You can see how it looks in the Eye Wish palette looks.

Note: Typo. Should read Ecstasy 😛

Ecstasy looks much darker in the tube but still applies sheer with a hint of colour. Its a deep berry but you can’t quite see it in the picture because its really sheer. There’s just a hint of colour. I like wearing this one with a lighter eye look and you can see it in the picture with the Topshop Flush blush. Its not glittery but shimmery, which I like and has no scent, which again I like.

Pros: Not sticky, Shiny, No scent, Good value in a set

Cons: Except for Radiant and Candid the rest are limited edition colours, Very sheer

Considering the set contains 2 full size lip enhancing lipglosses with 4 travel sized ones, you aren’t doing too badly in terms of pricing. Also, as I have pointed out above, you can break the set up, wrap up the gloss in pretty paper and gift it. Or add it to a gift bag… depending on how generous you feel 😉

    Ooh! Smashbox! 😀

Loved the Ecstasy one. I really like berry coloured lipsticks – I’m not so much into lipglosses, but that one looks fabulous! It reminds me somewhat of Benefit’s Ms Behavin’ applied sheerly. I got to stop buying so many lipsticks. +_+

Hehe… one can never have too many lippies! 😉 I found the Ecstasy one a bit dark for my liking 🙁 I guess I just can’t do berry lips

Well, at least you know what colour to give away whenever you buy sets of lipsticks/lipglosses.^^ I do admit that dark lipsticks can make you look a bit vampiresque, but then again I enjoy edgier looks. But not so much as to become some sort of gothic lolita, good heavens no! 😀

haha… dark lip colours do tend to have that vampiric effect right? But they can be quite nice in the evenings 😀

Just out of curiosity, how do you pack small gifts like lipstick and lipgloss for your friends?

I usually put them in a pretty cloth or organza bag sometimes with tissue most times without. Or you can wrap them into the shape of a sweet or Christmas cracker 🙂 I have some ideas I’ll post about soon. Thanks for such an interesting question!
