Ask and Answer: Best Slimming product or exercise to tone up tummy, thigh and arms?

how to tone up problem areas
  • Save

Its been a while since we had a Reader’s Question but this one from Lai Heng intrigued me, mainly because I have similar issues with the tummy, thigh and arms (as do most women I’m willing to bet!). Here’s Lai Heng’s question:-

Hi Paris,

I’m not sure whether this question has been featured on “My Women Stuff” but I would like to ask what’s the best slimming product to help to tone up problem areas like tummy, thigh and arms.

I found that jogging alone is not enough to tone up my body. And, does doing “sit up” everyday actually help to tone up tummy? Or, is there any alternative or natural way to help to tone up those peoblem areas or helps to eliminate cellulite?

Please advice ya.

Thank you and have a nice day.

I’m probably the worst person on earth to ask about exercise tips. I am a right slacker I am 😛

So I figured you ladies out there will be the best people to consult on this tricky question.

Do help out if you have any tips or recommendations or exercise ideas yes? I’d probably learn a new thing or two too! 😉

Ahhh I remember going for Body Pump classes way back in the day and you’re right. I felt more toned then. But I don’t like going to the gym. Ack! 😛

Take up bellydance lessons! Really works out the abs, hips and thigh jiggle… 😛

I still need a really good solution for getting my arms nice and toned though… 🙁

LOL I am lazy.. and I don’t jog
Somehow, walking for more than 2 hours in a shopping mall once a week without buying anything (LOL) ..with some slimming products work wonders for me! 😀

I guess besides our arms, tummy and thighs.. our face needs to be toned as well LOL 😉

    Hey,

I used to go to Hip Hop dance classes and I look absolutely fabulous with really toned up body. I recommend twice a week for 1 hour classes but do make sure it’s an intensive ones as those really light Hip Hop dance routines won’t help much.

But then again, that’s just me. Some may need more than these to tone up/lose weight.

Currently I’m dancing to DVDs because I’m too stingy to fork out $ for those classes plus I can do it at home, as and when I want to.

Also for buttocks/outer thigh area, I suggest doing squats. 3 sets of 12-20 squats once or twice a day.

For inner thigh, I suggest using a Gym Ball, lie on your side, and then put your foot on the ball & press down. Also about 3 sets of 12-20 presses once or twice a day.

For triceps, I suggest doing push ups. Again, 3 sets of 12-20 push ups once or twice a day.

Results won’t be immediate but you’ll see some effects within a month or 2 or even 3. Really depends on the individual’s body.

I used to go to the gym and use machine(?) with weights => I didn’t do regular sit ups, but I use Abdomincal machine(?). And yes, it did help.

Also using legs machine really really reduced cellulite. I compared my legs with other women who just went to classes, and I think I had less cellulite.

But that was me. I haven’t got the energy to go to the gym since my thyroidectomy 4 months ago 😀

Weights did the trick for me. You won’t bulk up like a man, it’s physically impossible to so don’t worry about looking like Terminator. Those Nautilus machines at my old gym were brilliant. I did the legs and abs machines daily.

Then… baby came along… and oh well, back to Square One and beyond.

I think you need a lot of cardio in general to lose fat and tone.
I personally love the eliptical machine 😀

Even though I exercise 5 days a week, it has been really difficult for me to lose weight around the areas you mentioned. I read an article somewhere that Clarins lotion is no 1 cellulite product in Korea, so being a sucker I am, I decided to try. I have been applying the lotion day and night for the last month and hello! I can feel my jeans are loose around the thigh area. I have been a huge skeptic when it comes to cellulite products and now I am a believer! 😀 I think with the right diet and regular exercise, the cellulite lotion/cream can HELP.

I tell stories on Instagram @parisbmws

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Excellent good fun! 😆 Your eyes always want more than your stomach can handle. Ate a lot and bought even more food back home. Diet? What diet? 😂

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
