Perfume: Dior Chris 1947 – You can’t get this anymore

August 13, 2010 Paris B 20 Comments

I was rooting around in my perfume cupboard when I came across Christian Dior Chris 1947. Ah the memories it brought back!

Dior Chris 1947 perfume

Chris 1947 was the first Dior perfume I bought for myself and it was extra special because it was very limited edition and only available at duty free in this part of the world.

This is my 2nd bottle. I finished up the first, hunted down another bottle and have never seen it since because its limited edition mah… 😛

Unlike the perfumes I was using at the time, Chris 1947 does not last as long on me. By the end of the day, all I’d get is a faint whiff of sweetness which wasn’t too bad if you come to think of it.

The smell is sweetly fruity-floral and a little sharp when first spritzed. It then mellows down to something warmer. Fitting, because it was targeted at younger women. I don’t think Christian Dior has made a scent like this again.

I stopped wearing it because after a while, the scent turned on me and made me feel sick and nauseous. But recently, I took it out for a whirl and its alright again. Body chemistry sure has a lot to do with how a a scent smells!

Have you come across this scent? Or do you remember it at all? 🙂

haha its just a small little hodge podge of perfumes in a cupboard – sounds a lot grander than it is 😉

How long a bottle of perfume can keep it’s original scent once it’s open ? 2 years ? 3 years? I believe the scent will change after few years !?

Not being a perfume afficionado I can’t answer this question. For me, if it smells alright and doesn’t irritate my skin I use it. If it does change, into the bin it goes. Thankfully it hasn’t happened often

i know what u mean. i’m crazy over rose scents, not the grandmother sirap bandung rose smell, but the soft REAL rose smell, so i’m nuts abt Paul Smith’s Rose. so lovely!

but Lanvin’s Rumeur 2 Rose and Stella McCartney’s Nude (a rose scent) turned on me and made me smell like someone sprayed me liberally with any paris hilton scent and made me run on a treadmill for an hour. imagine the smell later.

    and yes, WHAT PERFUME CUPBOARD!

Answered to Shuaddict above about cupboard 😛 And as for rose scents, I like the fresh rose scent not the musky powdery scents found in many “rose scented” products. I find the more expensive products have a more “natural” scent. All that money we pay better jolly well go into extracting scent from “natural roses” 😛

Any recommemdations for unique rose scented perfume? I used to love stella macartney sooo much when it first came out. But these days it’s everywhere…. Eeer… rather… E.g. in my workplace. I’m still on the lookout for a lovely unique yet natural (many perfumes make me giddy or nauseous) rose scent.

Hmm… come to think of it, I love Stella McCartney too! But like you, when it was first launched and less so now. I don’t know of many unique fragrances. To me, many fragrances these days tend to be very generic. Learning that they mostly come from one source isn’t very comforting. I’m not very good at scents. Maybe someone can help recommend something (Or perhaps as Sugar has suggested, Paul Smith Rose perfume)

I have a miniature of this perfume! Golly, didn’t know that was a limited edition, all the more it will be spritzed sparingly

I loved all the Dior LE perfumes!! I think this was the only one I didn’t get , but I do remember the scent being quite sweet and fruity. My fave out of all the LEs was Remember Me and I still use it sometimes 🙂 Still smells the same luckily!

OMG, I remember this! It was my first Dior perfume, a Christmas gift from my aunt. It’s been so long, I can’t even remember how it smells now.
