NYX Mosaic Highlighter and Guerlain Meteorites compared

June 17, 2010 Paris B 6 Comments

If you are a regular reader, you will know of my love for the Guerlain Meteorites powder. But its expensive for the most part. So let me tell you of a cheaper alternative.

NYX Mosaic Powder highlighter does the trick – sort of.

I will not call it a “dupe” because the NYX Mosaic powder does not give me as ethereal a glow as the Meteorites do and the powder isn’t as finely milled. What it is is a cheaper alternative that more or less does the same thing at a pinch i.e. highlight skin at a cheaper price.

If you can get your hands on it.

I got mine off ebay a while ago. I use it when I travel because its portable, does the job at a pinch, and is inexpensive so its alright if it shatters. I haven’t been using it much lately though.

Unlike the Guerlain Meteorites, I find that the NYX Mosaic Highlighter tends to apply with a whitish cast. So, I sometimes use it to tone down blush when I’ve over done it. It is rather rough to the touch but then, what do you expect for a retail price of US$8! 😀

Still, its a pretty nifty little item to have in your arsenal. Don’t pay over US$8 (RRP) or RM40 for it unless you absolutely feel that you have to have it. My previous review is here.

NYX Cosmetics is not available in Malaysia at this time. Retail price of the Mosaic blush highlighter is US$8. There are many online stores that sell it.

Oho! I bought the NYX highlighter too after reading your previous review, but never got around to using it. This reminds me that perhaps I should go dig it out and play around with it this weekend! 🙂

I have both!! Have abandoned NYX for awhile in favour of Guerlain. Should take it out and show it some love again. Super value for quite a lot in the pan. No idea how long it’ll take to finish it. Bought mine online via a spree for a steal!

Yup! You’d take forever to finish the NYX one… which is also true of the Guerlain haha

Same thing goes for the ELF (short for eyeslipsface) Complexion Perfection. Helps a little in evening everything out, and it does brighten my face, but if I got too heavy handed I’ll look like a ghost!

I haven’t tried the ELF one (wanted to but thought it was too similar to the NYX) Thanks for the warning! NYX does that too!
