Ladies!
I was supposed to be in Penang today but didn’t have to go at the last minute – yay! I’m glad because things have been so crazy at work I’m backlogged to last century 😛
All that aside, I don’t know about you, but I’m having a heck of a time staying awake today. The day seems to be dragging by forever… *yawn*
So, talk to me! 😀 Remember our last girly chat session?
Come come – pull up a chair and tell me the latest gossip, or whats going on in your life, or just what you’re planning to have for lunch or dinner. Or even ask me a question and I’ll endeavour to give you an answer – or maybe some other clever person out there can 😀
Come and help me stay awake… MWS cafe’s open 🙂

I’ve had only 2 coffees today so I’m very antsy. And I’m waiting with anticipation for my yarn stash to arrive but batang hidung pun tak nampak 🙁 I’ve to book airtickets to go to canberra to renew my passport and I’m dreading it because there’s absolutely nothing in canberra but a shitload of roundabouts. I think I’ll have roasted chicken pide for lunch today. It’s 32 degrees out there and I forgot my sunhat. Oh, autumn, wherefore art thou? Oh, and my database is completely out of sync for no apparent reason. Guess I’ve my work cut out for me today :'(
/whinge over
ParisB says
Ouchies! Sounds like you are going to have a rough day ahead – that said, Canberra could be a fun day out 😀 I’ve never been there

ParisB says

That sounds great! I might need a day off soon

But i woke up 6am to get prepared for an interview….

My Economics teacher did not come today!! WOOHOO!! Haih, too bad his lesson ain’t the last one of the day, so I’m literally freezing in the campus computer lab… Hey, I have a question: what blushes are really sheer yet can be layered for a blush beginner?
ParisB says
Hmm… sheer blushes are a bit of a conundrum because most of us prefer something with colour. Try Benefit blushes – they are sheer yet can be layered for more colour 🙂
Hanny says
Aikz… Benefit blushes expensive wor…. *Pouts* Ok, I shall save save save….
ParisB says
Ah but they are worth saving up for! 😉 Try to wait till there are online sales and buy online – its cheaper but you can try it out at the counters here to see if you like them. On the drugstore front, I like the Maybelline Angelfit blushes but they are quite pigmented. Also try Revlon matte blushes. They aren’t very strong if you choose a light colour.
Hanny says
Hmmm… Revlon matte eh… But they seem to be so… elusive nowadays, hehehhehe. Aikz…. I just don’t know how y’all use blushes, hehehe. Perhaps one day I shall traipse to a cosmetic counters per your advice… DAMNED A Levels… I’m tied at campus and at home until June 11… wuwu…
ParisB says
They aren’t – you might not get the similar one I have but if you just look at the Revlon counters, there are the matte blushes there – just not called the same thing but have the same packaging. 😀 Applying blush for me means getting the right brush which for me is the Ecotools brush. I’ll write about this some time 🙂
Hanny says
OOOo… Now that you mention it, I have seen them, hehehehehe. Thanks! Well, I do have a kabuki brush, the one from LovingMinerals, hehehehe.
Lilian says
Nothing much is happening, kids are home this week because it is the school holidays. Doing ordinary things like laundry and housework! On the makeup front though I am going to pick up one of the last pieces of mac blushcreme joie de vivre! And I just hauled from mac color forecast. I’m having coral blush overload here 🙂 Hope your day gets better!
ParisB says
Yay! I’m assuming coral blushes suit you to a T! 😀 Enjoy having the kids around – even if they’ll drive you mad by day end 😉
Monstro says
I have lots of work today–how do you cope with a stressful day? For me it’s FB or just taking a break for a cup of tea. What does PB do on a day like today 🙂
ParisB says
I blog 😛 Or I open up a cafe and chat and hide away for a while 🙂 Actually, I take a break, read the news online, pick a quarrel with my colleague and then get back to work hehe… 😉
Jenn says
I’m sleepy!! And i so want that MAC Naked Liner!! 😀
ParisB says
Erm *crawls out from under a rock* Naked liner?
Jenn says
It’s a nude concealerish-coloured lip pencil!! *drools* 😀
Connie says
hehe. that makes sense. I was thinking a nude EYEliner :p
ParisB says
ahhh! Thanks for the clarification
Cece says
Paris B, you’ve watched Alice in Wonderland right? Is it good?
ParisB says
Hey Cece, this is a hard question to answer without pissing people off but here goes! 🙂 I find it enjoyable if you enjoy Tim Burton’s movies which I do. Its got a faintly sinister take to the whole story but certain things send goosebumps down my spine. I don’t really want to spoil it for you if you haven’t seen it, so my advice is to go without expectations and enjoy it. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter is priceless as is Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen. They both steal the show and then some!
Connie says
couldn’t have described it better! 😀

i have this one issue at hand. recently i went for a facial in sothys because my usual facial center is always full whenever i want to make an appointment. the facial was ok and they sold me some products that may help my annoying problem skin. i bought the entire range since my current skincare is depleting anyway. although my skin was flawless after the facial, it became horrifyingly different after 3 days. i started having large pimples that are so painful. of course those at sothys tell me that this is normal – that my impurities are coming out, which i feel is pure bullshit. i think i am reacting to their skincare which may not be suitable for my skin.
my question is – do you believe in their claim – that impurities are coming out? it’s been 2 weeks and i keep getting pimples all over the place. this has never happened before..
ParisB says
Juan, I feel your pain! This is a tough question. Personally I do not subscribe to the theory of “impurities purging” – to me, if I get spots after a facial or after using a product, then the products were not suitable for me, or the facial was not properly executed e.g. the facialists’ hands or equipment were not clean. There are people who subscribe to the “impurities purging” school of thought so my advice is to wait 1 week. If nothing clears up by then, you are having a reaction and you should take the matter up with the salon.
juan says
thanks, paris, for your input. yup, i will be seeing the therapist one more time this weekend and am giving them just one more chance minus any chance of signing up for a programme or adding more products that they ‘think’ would make my skin better. so sayang because i truly like the smell and texture of their products…
ParisB says
Yes get them to sort things out for you and don’t give in to anymore persuasions to try anything else for now. Perhaps it was too rich for your skin 🙂 Good luck!

I am currently surrounded by other people’s files that I am trying to wrap my head around so that I know just what they’re doing! Luckily I like puzzles and putting my logic to work…
On the beauty front, I did my nails using Elianto party colors yesterday and found out that I bought a dud color… I call it a dud because it looks oh-so-pretty in the bottle, but just make my nails look discolored/dirty on… gonna go home tonight and remove it all off. Yucks! 🙁
ParisB says
Its great you are taking a lighter look at things. Since you’re having to do the work anyway, no point getting upset about it eh? 🙂 I’m also a puzzle solver which is why I (sometimes) enjoy what I do. As for your nails, discoloured nails are a no no! Take it off! At least it wasn’t expensive 😉
Connie says
I have a HUGE sty on my left eye. I was told that if you tie black strings on both of your middle fingers, the sty will go away. I’m starting to believe that because I tried it the last time and the sty actually went off sooner :p But now I gots no black string with me.
I’m craving for spicy food…
ParisB says
You know what? I used to be told that too – the black string thing, and it works! Find some! It works as if by magic and stay off spicy food for now 😛
Connie says
I did the tea bag thing and the swelling went down, which is good. Lol. And I got my spicy food fix :p
Sunny girl says
Yeah, the Kabuki brush from LovingMinerals was fantastic. I already fallen in love with it on the first after i receive the the package.
Dear Paris,
Actually i have this problem. I have very short eye lashes and it make me so lazy to put on Mascara because is too difficult to curl and always clip my eye lids.hehehe!!! In my daily make-up routine mascara is out from my list.Eventhough i bought alot of fantastic and beautiful mascara, what i usually do is look at the beutiful design of the bottle and only put it on when im in the mood. So my actual problem i dont know how curl my eye lashes and maintain the curl for whole day.Hope you can advice me on this matter instead of putting fake mascara. hehe!!! Thanks!!!
ParisB says
You might have to find an eyelash curler that works for you. For me it is the Shu Uemura lash curler. Always bring the lash curler as close to the lid as possible (without clipping your skin). It takes practice (and finding the right lash curler). To get your curled lashes to last, you’d have to get it curled, then use a mascara that can hold the curl. Some mascara formula weigh down the lashes so you lose your curl halfway. Oh and don’t use fake mascara – its bad for your health!

*ahem* Is the cafe still open? *knock knock*
So anyways, I went for my third jewellery making class today. So awesome! We’re learning to make a ring from scratch. Using copper of course, not sterling silver, ‘cos it’s much cheaper (although I did buy a 1mm thick 50mmx50mm sterling silver sheet today to try out. Guess how much that small piece of metal cost me? Over AU$30. Crazy!). It’s so much fun using using all those jewellery-making tools. Haven’t done that much sawing and filing since my Kemahiran Hidup days 😛
Ahh it’s fun to be a student once more, even when it’s only a month 🙂
ParisB says
Of course its open! 😀
Your jewellery making classes sound fun and I can’t wait for you to translate that into the pieces you sell at your store! 😀 I know I’d never be able to do it (no patience) so I’d be content to buying my custom handmade jewellery 😉

A quick question here…. Erm, when and where did the notion “makeup is bad for your skin” arise ? Was it when Elizabeth I used white powder and it had mercury in it? Is modern makeup not totally safe to use, apart from causing breakouts and stuff?
ParisB says
I don’t know the historical origins but back in the old days, I don’t think they realized that using lead was bad for health – people drank mercury! Also I’m not particularly fussed about makeup or skincare perhaps because I don’t react badly to the normal skincare and makeup in the market. Some have found that mineral makeup works for sensitive skin. I broke out from that. So for me its a matter of what your skin can tolerate and a matter of moderation.

hi paris,it has been quite some times i didn’t leave a comment as i m busy with my work but nevertheless i stil read your blog. this job requires me to work 36 hours without sleep sometimes..haiz, worry about my aging skin.. hence i m using face mask very frequent now. just bought one dozen from thefaceshop as there is sale going on :p

ParisB says
Hi Natalie! Not to worry, I think most of us are really busy with our jobs 😀 I read about TheFaceShop sale but I haven’t tried their masks. I’m guessing you like them! 😉 Have a great day tomorrow yeah?
