Review: Garnier Bodylight Body Scrub and Body Lotion

December 4, 2008 Paris B 16 Comments

After the Christmas frenzy over the last couple of days, we are back to our regular scheduled programme on My Women Stuff which is reviews and beauty stuff. Today, we focus on the body and this product just happens to be in one of the gift packs 😉

Its been roughly a month since I first started test-running the Garnier BodyLight Brightening Exfoliating Scrub and BodyLight Whitening Hydrating UV lotion and I think I’m ready with an informed opinion on the product.

The Garnier BodyLight Brightening Exfoliating Scrub and BodyLight Whitening Hydrating UV lotion are new body care products by Garnier and have just been launched here in Malaysia. They are easy to spot in the pharmacy, with their bright cheery yellow bottles which is a nice change from the regular white bottles that body care products come in. I wrote about the product on an earlier post about the new Garnier Bodylight Scrub and Lotion.

Garnier Bodylight Exfoliating Scrub

The Garnier Bodylight Scrub comes in a tube which is handy in the shower. The product looks rather like a yellow gel when squirted out of the tube, but do be warned that you don’t need much. It doesn’t look like there are any grains in it unlike most other body scrubs. I’m used to those with apricot kernals or ground bits of seed in it, but you don’t get that in the Garnier. What you get is hardish granules which I’m informed is sugar (it doesn’t attract ants though).

When rubbed on the body, the translucent yellow gel turns white and you can feel the hardish granules on the surface of your skin. It dissolves as you go along and I always take care never to rub too hard but as Garnier uses sugar as their exfoliating ingredient, I find that it does not scratch your skin unlike apricot kernals. A good rigorous scrub of the skin in the shower is enough to leave you with lovely soft skin when you step out, with a lingering scent of lemons.

Christmas Giveaway – Update #2

Christmas Giveaway

This is truly a learning experience for me running such a huge giveaway LOL…

First off, does no one want the L’oreal Face and Hair set? 🙂 Give it some lovin… come on… the competition is really hotting up for the Rootote and its only Day #3. I can’t imagine how many people will be vying for it come the 15th!

Anyway, here’s a quick recap of the rules because I realise I might have been a little unclear:-

  1. You must leave a comment to qualify. The secret password and blog entry are optional.
  2. If you are doing a blog entry, the key phrase “My Women Stuff Christmas Giveaway” MUST be clickable i.e. it must be a link. And don’t forget to email me your link to your post because I can’t track everyone. Detailed rules for blog entries are on my previous update. Whether you write 1 post or many posts (for which I thank you!) you still only get 1 extra entry 🙂
  3. For international girls, there are only 2 gift sets available – The Envirosax set and the Anne Dundas jewellery. I can’t ship the others overseas due to shipping costs. If you are from outside Malaysia and have chosen other sets, please re-enter. I have placed your comment under suspension.
  4. The secret password will change everyday, but you only email me once. Emailing me many times does not give you any extra entries. 😉
  5. Minimum entries a person gets is 1, maximum is 3.

I think that’s about it! Having fun yet? Good luck!

My Women Stuff Christmas Giveaway – Update

Christmas Giveaway

Wow, the entries are overwhelming! Thank you! Where on earth have all you silent readers been all along?! 😛

For now, the Rootote set and the Stage set are far and away getting the most entries but a couple of other sets are slightly lonely – Tiny Tapir set, the 2 L’oreal sets and the LovingMinerals set are 3 that you might strike gold at 😉

Anyway, some of you have started taking advantage of the bonus entry via your blogs. Just to let you know that due to a little confusion perhaps due to unclear instructions earlier, here is the updated set of instructions for blog bonus entries:-

  1. Write a post and link to my christmas giveaway post using the words “My Women Stuff Christmas Giveaway” in the body of your post. Please use the exact words as you see here and turn them into a link to the post. If you have a blog, you should be handy at this by now 🙂 (You can access the post by clicking on the image on the sidebar)
  2. It need not be a dedicated post. So long as the words and links are there you qualify.
  3. Email me at mwsgiveaways (at) gmail (dot) com with your published blog post link and your chosen gift and your nick that you use to post the comment.

Comply with all these and I won’t harrass you further but will enter your bonus entry into the draw. As I’ll be busy in the coming days, I might miss your bonus entry if you don’t email me or if your entry doesn’t comply with the rules; and you don’t want that happening right? 😉

Good luck everyone and keep the entries coming in!

Tips for Bridal Makeup for the Evening

December 2, 2008 Paris B 23 Comments

My sister recently had her wedding reception where yours truly was the bridesmaid and general dogsbody 😛 One of the most fun things I took part in was watching her transformation for the evening dinner reception. Her makeup was done by the wonderfully talented Zamri Zainol, Lancome’s Top National Makeup Artist who usually does magazine covergirls, models and actresses. I wonder if this is the first non-celebrity wedding makeup he has done! 😉 I want him for my wedding tooooooo!!!

Anyway, while he was making her up with a veritable portable Lancome counter, I sat and drooled and picked up some tips for evening makeup or evening makeup for brides. Here are 7 tips he shared that I will in turn share with you:-

  1. For more defined brows, pat in concealer to conceal your brows (if your brows are light and sparse) then, use a brow pencil or brow powder and brush to draw in a natural brow line. It gives a more defined look and you’ll need a defined look for photographs.
  2. For an evening reception you want to look as glamorous as you feel so concentrate your makeup on the eyes with dark shimmery eyeshadow and lots of liner and mascara to emphasize your eyes.
  3. Highlight your eye area and decolletage with fine shimmer. Under warm incandescent lighting, it will catch the light and you will look amazing.
  4. Use natural soft false eyelashes to enhance your eyes. Try to go with soft false eyelashes because they look more natural and in photos they will really enhance your eyes. Save the fancy falsies for fun times.
