New Maybelline Angelfit Liquid Foundation

March 25, 2008 Paris B 20 Comments

I saw the new Maybelline Angelfit liquid foundation as I was passing by a Watsons store recently. I’d been meaning to try the Angelfit 2-way powder foundation (review by Tine) for a while but never got around to doing it mainly because I’m on a mission to finish up my existing powder foundations first.

angelfit

Angelfit is an Asia only line of Maybelline New York cosmetics. I believe they were originally made for Japan only and were made to suit Asian (oriental) skin coloring and skin tone and Asian skin needs. Looking at the official website (in Japanese only) I notice that besides the powder and liquid foundation there are other products too – Sunscreen and Makeup base to name but 2. It looks like Angelfit is turning out to be a brand in itself! And in typically Japanese cosmetics fashion, it is cute and girly and Angelfit is being endorsed by their celebrities Miss Universe Japan 2006 Kurara Chibana and makeup artist Rie Omoto.

That said, the Angelfit liquid foundation piqued my interest. Maybe it was the slim baby pink pump bottle. Or maybe it was the attractive price of RM35.90 promotion price. Either way, I felt that I really HAD to have that liquid foundation!

Thats when I ran into a problem. I had difficulty finding a foundation color that fit! I use L’oreal True Match in N1 – a very light shade, and Kanebo Revue powder foundation in OC-B or so. Every tester I tried in the 5 shades Angelfit liquid foundation comes in was either too yellow, too pink, too light or too dark. There was no one shade that fit. Boo! 🙁 The 5 shades available are W01, N01, C01, W02 and N03. The closest I could find to fit my skintone would be W01 – True Ivory or maybe NO1. Even then, its a tad on the light side. Girls of darker skin tone would have problems too because the line seems formulated for those with lighter skin tone. Definitely a mark of Japanese makeup!

Here are the specifications of the product:-

  • Super-blendable formula gives perfectly smooth coverage that you can layer without ever clogging pores
  • Revolutionary Pink Pearls technology highlights skin for a natural and luminous glow
  • Perfectly fits your skin’s tone and texture for natural flawless coverage
  • Formulated with moisture and care ingredients – chamomile essence, Royal Jelly & Vitamin E
  • SPF 17/PA ++
  • This product is fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, does not clog pores and is dermatologist-tested.

I found that it had quite good coverage bordering on thick so you really have to be careful and use only very little and make sure to blend it nicely. I’m trying my darnest to finish up my L’oreal True Match foundation so I can try the Angelfit foundation out. Maybe I’ll get it before the promo period ends and keep it till I’m finished eh? 😉 After the promotion period ends, I’m not sure what the retail price will be but since its Maybelline I’m not expecting it to be very expensive at all.

I’ll be back with a proper review later once I get this!

Stay beautiful,

Didn’t realise there was a liquid version of the Angelfit foundation. Btw, your foundation will never finish if you keep buying new ones to try out. I know, I have LOADS!! 😉

PS: Btw, you just got tagged 🙂

Tine: Will get down to it! And yes I know what you mean about foundation. Fortunately I don’t have that many and I’m sure the L’oreal will finish up soon with regular use!

Nikki: Thank you and maybe it’ll get to Manila soon.

I’m looking for my Revlon New Complexion but it looks like they have stopped selling it or something. So far, I only like this one because it’s not too thick and the coverage is excellent and natural.

I’m a bit skeptical about other brands. Oh boy.

I’ve just checked it out when I read this in your blog. The packaging was cute! Too bad they don’t have samples for me to try on. Weird, huh?

S-kay: Thats the problem with products being discontinued huh? It makes life difficult for us users!

Myuu: Yes its really cute. The stores I went to had testers. Maybe check out a bigger pharmacy – I find those are usually better equipped.

I’ve used Angelfit but it’s a bit too light (coverage) for me. Tried out the W01, and i use R2 for Loreal. Totally sticking with Loreal True Match, nothing has beat it so far 🙂

@Dhani: I’m not sure if you can. However, I found it on Sasa.com which ships to the USA so perhaps you can try there or other Asian websites.

@joanna : If it was purchased from a legitimate Pharmacy or Sasa or a department store its the real deal and yes its made in China.

I’ve been using the 2-way compact powder (wet&dry) for ? years and now I’m 53 yrs. I don’t know and have never use the liquid foundation. Please advise which one I’m suppose to use and how? I very much prefer to use wet compact style.

I just stumbled upon this site while I was surfing the net for Maybelline Angelfit. On my part, Maybelline Angelfit really works on me, especially the 2-way cake foundation. 🙂 It’s really nice in coverage and doesn’t feel chalky or heavy on me, plus it hides skin flaws. I also tried Loreal True Match (my Mom has one) but it looks a little bit dark on me….. Lately there’s a new foundation on Loreal which is the “Photo ready” set, I’ve also tried it and it looks perfect in many ways, the result is natural but not “washed out” or “ghastly”, yet it’s quite expensive here in Manila compared to Maybelline Angelfit. I still stick to this brand because it’s my favorite foundation ever!

at first when i buy anglefit liquid foundation, i fall in love with it because of the packaging, then once i apply it on my face, i really hate it! it’s because it kinda has glitters in it? i don’t know what is that, probably because it contains white pearls or probably pigments?i don’t know~ but then, after like 6 hours using it, i was completely shocked because the product still stays on my face,i wasn’t suspecting that, and i thought that this product wasn’t bad at all,i mixed it with my other fondation and the ‘glitters’ were gone, and now i love this foundation, and it really controls oil in my skin because im very oily! and it’s very runny… did you guys also experience this? i know this is very late… but please tell me! thanks!

    xoxo:D
