Laura Mercier Art Deco Muse Collection 2012: Gilded and Glamorous

November 29, 2012 Paris B 66 Comments

One of the quieter, more understated Winter/Christmas collections is the one from Laura Mercier. Amidst the glitz and sparkles of the larger cosmetics brands, Laura Mercier quietly enters the room bringing with her beautiful red lips and a touch of elegant metallic shine on eyelids, drawing inspiration from the Art Deco period in the 1920s. The collection is small, compact and incredibly alluring to me.

I think its the bright red lipstick 🙂

Illuminating Eye Colours Gilded Bronze and Gilded Platinum

Or maybe its the new Illuminating Eye Colours. These single eyeshadows with a lovely quilted surface have a luminous pearly finish that is at once smooth on skin yet gives off a beautiful metallic shine that gilds the lids with colour. I was immediately drawn to them like a magpie, and they go on so lovely on skin. I do have one of these so I will be able to tell you about it in greater depth soon 🙂

How to wear a red lipstick for day and for night : Tips from Laura Mercier Global Makeup Artist Michel Coulombe

September 11, 2012 Paris B 41 Comments

Red lipstick – the one makeup item that makes any woman look instantly glamorous. It is also the one makeup item that most women will dread the most. Yet red lipstick can be worn both day and night.

red lipstick tips

I recently had the chance to derive some pearls of wisdom from Laura Mercier Global Makeup Artist Michel Coulombe who flew in all the way from Toronto, Canada. I also caught the preview of the Laura Mercier Art Deco Muse Winter/Holiday collection and I was absolutely taken by the metallic eyeshadows and the beautiful red lip colours. I’ll tell you about them another day 😉

But for now, Michel Coulombe probably realised how fearful most women are of wearing a red lip so he gave some tips on wearing red lipstick for day and night. You don’t have to fear it 😉

Insta-Updates: Random makeup in my bag

August 10, 2012 Paris B 31 Comments

This morning before I flew out the door, I rooted about in my bag to see what was adding to all that bulk and weight. And all these spilled out. Oops!

random makeup

Hmm… its no wonder my bag was getting weighed down! In there were some random purchases I made over the past couple of weeks (yes WEEKS!) and also a couple of items I collected from makeup mule friends 🙂

Hike with me along the Laura Mercier Silk Road

March 25, 2011 Paris B 20 Comments

Purple eyeshadow and I have never been very good friends. You might even say we’ve had our share of bad times. Usually, wearing purple eyeshadow makes me look like someone sucker punched me in the eyes. But because I could not resist the Laura Mercier Silk Road palette, I decided to brave the purple eyeshadows in there and hopefully, make them work for me 🙂

I’d never used Laura Mercier’s colour cosmetics before, and truth be told, I never found them very interesting. This palette however tugged at my heartstrings. Perhaps its that whole Silk Road reference. When I was growing up, there was a TV documentary series about the Silk Road and I always wanted to go on it. It sounds so exotic and exciting! 😀

Since I haven’t been on that Silk Road, the next best thing is to own this Silk Road palette 😀 I’ve got some more photos in my previous preview post. Its a limited edition palette for Spring 2011 so let’s take a quick look and swatches and my thoughts on it below 🙂
