I’ve had and used the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner for a while, and I realize that the hype has died down somewhat. It was all the rage a few months ago, if you remember. Or it might be because there was a campaign running haha!
That said however, I do understand the hype, because this is quite a nice product!
It is just very hard to understand what it exactly is, or how we could and should use it. So let me share my thoughts with you 🙂

I packed a rather compact, capsule wardrobe for my travel this time around, and still managed to have clothes I didn’t wear in my luggage. Next time, I’ll compact it even further! I’m not a fashionable traveller, nor a fashion blogger, so it’s easier for me to have comfortable clothes in a compact suitcase. I don’t have to think about doing a fashion shoot every day!
But, clothes aside, there are some travel essentials that I always make sure I have with me, regardless of where I travel or for what purpose.
Naturally, your passport, cash and credit cards are essentials. Those go without saying! But beauty and comfort-wise, here are 9 things I always, ALWAYS travel with. If you have a trip lined up, this might be a good place for you to start 🙂
Are you bitten by the ombre lip bug? I wasn’t. For some reason, it’s one of the makeup trends that passed me by. I did notice however, that there are two sorts of ombre lips – the Western ombre lip trend, and the Korean ombre lip trend.
The Western ombre lip trend has a deeper colour on the outer lip, and a lighter shade on the inner lip. This, I find, makes lips look larger and more pouty. The Korean ombre lip trend is reversed, with a deeper colour on the inner lip and a very light shade on the outer lip. I think it’s supposed to give off an innocent vibe, like that of someone who’s just sucked on a cherry lollipop. Neither is really my style LOL!
But I know the Korean lip style is quite popular. There are any number of makeup tutorials out there teaching you how to create this look. But if you’re anything like me (read: not great at following instructions 😛 ) then Laneige has made the job a million times easier!

After trying cushion foundations from both Western and Korean brands in recent times, I thought I’d share some quick thoughts on how I feel about how they stack up against each other. They are by no means comprehensive, as the market is quite saturated with cushion foundations and I do not claim to have tried all the brands out there. However, I believe what I’ve tried represents a reasonable cross-section of what’s on offer out there.
For a more detailed insight into the brands I tried, I’d suggest you run through Cushion Foundation Week 1 (Western brand cushions) and Week 2 (Korean brand cushions). I’ve shared in there my thoughts on each of them in greater depth and how they compare to each other.
But for those of you wondering just how similar or different the Western brands have recently approached cushion foundations, which were made popular by the Korean brands, this is what I think.
