I’ve tried a few Dr. Sam’s skincare products over the years since she launched her line, and I have to say that I have rather enjoyed most of them. I’m currently using the Flawless Cleanser and still loving it (and planning to get backups/refills) because it’s such a simple cleanser that just works.

I recently picked up the Dr. Sam’s Flawless Brightly serum, because I’m a bit of a sucker for trying new things, and anything that promises to brighten my skin is worth a shot! 😀

The thing is that the Flawless Brightly serum promises to do so much more!

If there’s one thing that every skincare brand can agree on, is that aging is synonymous with loss of moisture in the skin. As we age, our skin barrier weakens, and allows moisture to escape more quickly, which then leads to dry, dehydrated skin, and the resulting fine lines and wrinkles.

Japanese brand Decorte has something to address this.

Decorte uses a new Multilamellar Bio-liposome, which is an ultra-fine 0.1-micron microcapsule that encapsulates moisturizing ingredients. These microcapsules (1 Trillion microcapsules in a single drop, apparently) penetrate easily and deeply into the skin to boost moisture from within.

The Liposome technology isn’t new, and Decorte has been using it since 1992 in their serum. This year, it’s a new formula.

A few weeks ago, I was at the launch of the upgraded Shiseido Eudermine Activating Essence. It is a product that has been in Shiseido’s line-up since 1897! I didn’t know about it, did you?

It was formulated then, using the most advanced Western pharmaceutical technology of the time, and the name is derived from the Greek words “eu” and “dermine” (derma), meaning “good” and “skin”. I guess it’s self-explanatory there!

What Eudermine is, is an essence, that you apply on your skin after cleansing and before your serum and moisturiser. It can be used day and night.

I think most people aren’t strangers to the concept of an essence anymore – it is more about what this essence will do for your skin.

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 revisited : Is it a facial in a bottle?

Over 7 years ago, I came across the iconic Biologique Recherche Lotion P50, and as luck would have it, a work event found me in Paris, where I hunted down their flagship store on Ave. Champs Elysees and picked up a bottle.

At the time, I was a Lotion P50 virgin, so they would only sell me Lotion P50W, the entry level version of this acid toner to the stars. I shared my thoughts about it then, and long story short, I loved it.

Thereafter, when I knew of friends travelling to Europe or the UK, I’d pop in my request to please bring me back a bottle of Lotion P50. Well, not any longer, because we now have our very own Ambassade Biologique Recherche at Starhill Gallery, that mirrors the flagship store in Paris!

Well, I’ve been there, so I can say that it does, on a much smaller scale. But it’s all there – the quiet elegance, the range of products available, and the luxurious treatments.

Having used Lotion P50 in various iterations over the years, I still find myself returning to the version without any alphabets. Just plain Lotion P50, and I always have a bottle on hand for when I want to use an acid toner. It’s opportune then to revisit this iconic product, and to share about it with a whole new generation who can now easily get it locally 🙂
