Sneaking you a peek of the upcoming Laneige Perfect Renew Anti-Aging Skincare range

December 21, 2015 Paris B 6 Comments

It’s always a little exciting having a sneak peek into what’s coming from a skincare brand, before it’s launched. But having to then sit on my hands until it’s available KILLS me! I want to tell you RIGHT NOW! Haha…

Well although the Laneige Perfect Renew skincare range is only due to be relaunched in January 2016, I was given the go ahead to tell you a little about it right now. After all, we are but a week away from the new year, so it’s not like I’m spoiling things for anyone – unlike with Star Wars – The Force Awakens. I haven’t seen it, please don’t spoil it for me.

In the new year, Laneige is launching their Perfect Renew range, with an improved formula. What you see above, is their star product, the Perfect Renew Regnerator Serum, which as the name implies, serves to regenerate and revitalise your skin, for smoother and younger looking skin.

The technology behind this, is the discovery of what is called, “baby triangles”. Apparently, when seen under a microscope, firm, young skin is made up of triangles, which are small and well-formed. But as you grow older, these triangles lose their elasticity and firmness, and stretch out. So, what Laneige aims to do in their revamped Perfect Renew range, is to retighten these triangles, and firm up skin.

Let me tell you a little more, what is available, and if you haven’t seen it, a little episode of MWStv that takes you with me to the Global Press Event in Singapore 🙂

The golden champagne goodness of La Mer The Renewal Oil – shaken, not stirred

November 30, 2015 Paris B 12 Comments

I think by now, most of you are familiar with my love for facial oils. Whilst not new in the beauty industry, and once the main purview of the organic and natural skincare movement, it’s seen a renaissance in recent years, that’s had mainstream brands include an oil or two in their skincare ranges. Not a bad thing, I can assure you.

All that said, I’d never quite pegged La Mer for being at the forefront of things. Sorry! They are a little traditional and stick very closely to their basics, so when I got wind of a facial oil coming out of La Mer, I was off like a shot to get the deets!

la mer the renewal oil

I’ve been dipping my fingers (not literally!) into the La Mer The Renewal Oil for the better part of a month, since the press launch (which you can watch in a video below, if you haven’t already seen it) which has given me time to figure out what I think about it, and how it’s fared for me.

The thing about me and La Mer is this – I can’t use their iconic creams. Every single one of them, from the classic Creme de la Mer to the lightest Soft Cream, breaks me out in varying degrees. So, I’ve given up on ever using them. By contrast, my sister has been a devout user for years and loves them, so go figure, really! 😀

That said, my skin tolerates the other products in the La Mer skincare range quite well. A personal favourite that I recommend to anyone who asks, is The Treatment Lotion, which is fairly affordable by La Mer standards. I always have a back up! Another one I quite like, albeit not slavishly devoted to, is the Illuminating Eye Gel. And since I’m such a HUGE fan of facial oils, I was hoping The Renewal Oil would work for me!

3 Quick and Easy tips for giving your hardworking feet that tender TLC they deserve

November 20, 2015 Paris B 6 Comments

This post is sponsored by Scholl Malaysia

I have a bad habit. I take good care of my facial skin but the rest of my body is pretty much fair game. Body lotions or hand creams are things I use only when I remember, and let’s not even talk about feet! Other than cutting my toenails when they start getting long and gnarly, I rarely do much for my poor maligned feet.

So if you are like me, pause for a moment, say a quick thank you to your feet for making you mobile, and care for them. Here are some quick tips 🙂

Hazy Days are here to stay! How to protect yourself from the haze and smog [Video]

October 21, 2015 Paris B 16 Comments

Not long ago, our country was blanketed by a thick smog caused by forest fires in our neighbouring countries. A potent combination of fires, dry weather and a northwesterly wind saw the smoke drifting over and choking our airspace. It’s not just us here in Malaysia, Singapore is pretty fogged up too.

While the skies cleared up a week or two back, it quickly got hazy again this week. The air quality is so bad, schools are closed. I think it just plays merry hell with everyone’s plans you know, and with schools opening and closing at the whims and fancies of the air pollution conditions, I think it plays merry hell with education as well. But I won’t go there (Or we’ll be here all day!)

hazy days

Instead, with news reports warning us that this haze (or I should say smog) is expected to stay with us for a couple of months more (yikes!) I thought I’d share some tips on how to protect yourself from the haze or smog.

If you’re wondering what I’m on about when I talk about this “haze”, you might understand better when you watch part of my video below, in my latest MWStv episode, where I show you just how bad things can look 🙂 Yes, my friends, we have video!

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Excellent good fun! 😆 Your eyes always want more than your stomach can handle. Ate a lot and bought even more food back home. Diet? What diet? 😂

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
