It’s always a little exciting having a sneak peek into what’s coming from a skincare brand, before it’s launched. But having to then sit on my hands until it’s available KILLS me! I want to tell you RIGHT NOW! Haha…
Well although the Laneige Perfect Renew skincare range is only due to be relaunched in January 2016, I was given the go ahead to tell you a little about it right now. After all, we are but a week away from the new year, so it’s not like I’m spoiling things for anyone – unlike with Star Wars – The Force Awakens. I haven’t seen it, please don’t spoil it for me.
In the new year, Laneige is launching their Perfect Renew range, with an improved formula. What you see above, is their star product, the Perfect Renew Regnerator Serum, which as the name implies, serves to regenerate and revitalise your skin, for smoother and younger looking skin.
The technology behind this, is the discovery of what is called, “baby triangles”. Apparently, when seen under a microscope, firm, young skin is made up of triangles, which are small and well-formed. But as you grow older, these triangles lose their elasticity and firmness, and stretch out. So, what Laneige aims to do in their revamped Perfect Renew range, is to retighten these triangles, and firm up skin.
Let me tell you a little more, what is available, and if you haven’t seen it, a little episode of MWStv that takes you with me to the Global Press Event in Singapore 🙂
So, coming back to the Perfect Renew range and how Laneige is proposing to make our skin feel and look younger.
This, they are doing, by using what they call Skin Rebirth™ Technology developed after the discovery of the PYCR1 gene that intervenes with the aging process of skin cells by boosting cellular energy. The technology uses an extract of galangin, a flavonoid from the galangal root. Now, this little tidbit made me sit up.
It so happens that in South-East Asian cooking, a lot of galangal root (aka lengkuas) is used! You need it in tomyam, for instance, and many Asian curries and sambals. Might this be why ladies from this region age a little slower than our counterparts? We do consume copious amounts of chilles, curries and sambals containing galangal! 😀 At least I know I do LOL! 😀
So this new Skin Rebirth™ Technology from Laneige in their Perfect Renew range will target lifeless, flaky and rough skin, and restore skin texture, moisture, elasticity which will naturally then improve the appearance of lines and make skin look smoother.
There will be a full range available, but the star product, as I’ve noted above, is the Perfect Renew Regenerator Serum.
What this is, is a very lightweight essence serum that is an oil, but atomised through x1000 air pressure, so the molecules are broken down very small, to aid absorption. This isn’t an oil as we know it. It is a while milky lightweight essence serum that does absorb very quickly into the skin. I’ll have a review on this in a few weeks so I’ll share my thoughts in greater detail then.
For now, the full range will consist of (in order of usage):-
- Perfect Renew Skin Refiner RM135/120ml
- Perfect Renew Regenerator Serum RM225/40ml
- Perfect Renew Emulsion RM148/100ml
- Perfect Renew Eye Cream RM180/20ml
- Perfect Renew Cream RM225/50ml
- Perfect Renew Regenerating Mask RM110/5 pieces
As you can probably tell, the Perfect Renew range is targeted at what is popularly termed as “anti-aging” and is for the target age group of the 25-35 year olds to maintain and improve the skin texture. Think of this then, as your introduction to an anti-aging skincare routine, and I think the prices reflect that. They aren’t prohibitively expensive and should be within the reach of most in the target age group.
Popular Korean actress Song Hye Kyo is the Laneige Perfect Renew ambassador and if you watch the video below, I’ve included a snippet of her live interview, as well as the TVC that she appears in alongside other Korean personalities 🙂
Like most Laneige skincare, there is a scent, so do be warned. I didn’t find it too strong, but it’s there so it’s something to take note of if that’s your concern. If you’re living in the USA and Canada where Laneige is also sold, I did check if you’d get this range, and the answer is yes, you will. However, it might not be rolled out there as quickly as it will be in Asia, but you will get it eventually 🙂
So, if you haven’t already seen it, here’s MWStv Episode 7 (which, syncs perfectly with the Star Wars Episode 7! What are the odds! LOL! 😀 ) of my trip to a galaxy far far away….. or rather down south to Singapore for the Laneige Perfect Renew Global Press Event. There were, unfortunately, no lightsaber duels, but I hope you enjoy it anyway 🙂
Are you already using any Laneige skincare? Does this new Perfect Renew range pique your interest?
It appears that I’ve fallen out of the target user group, having graduated to one meant for more mature skin – boo! LOL! I haven’t tried that one, but I think I can understand why you may not appreciate this range as much as someone who’s just starting their foray into using anti-aging skincare. There’s just too much work needed to be done! LOL! But for you young ‘uns, watch out for this hitting Laneige counters very soon – are you keen? 😀

Saw the video when you first posted it on YT. My first reaction was: Woaaahhhh the bathroom so fancy! And I like the idea of a wall-seperated tub although I’m not big on baths hahahaha.
I actually have a totally un-related question that I’ve pondered about. There’s a kettle in the room. Do you fill it with water from the washroom tap? Cause I always thought the it’s not filtered..
Anyone feel free to comment your thoughts~

LOL I’m not big on baths at home (cleaning the tub is a bitch!) but in a hotel? Yeah… after rinsing it out 😛 As for your question, yes I use the water from the tap and then put it to boil. I reckon it’s probably filtered to a degree by the water board, and boiling it will then kill anything that’s not killed 😛 I used to boil my water even when I was in the UK and we could drink straight from the tap. I never quite caught on with that. Too Asian haha!

I actually boil the water to drink right now too because what I find is that there’s this weird taste to the unboiled water that I’m not fond of.. like.. it’s not bad or anything just not fond of it so I always boil it first.. a pain in the backside when you’re thirsty and have to wait for it to boil and cool down actually hahahahaha

I know! I sometimes run out of water at home and have an “Oh darn!” moment, when I have to boil water, cool, then drink. I try to remember to have a jug of cool water filled, but you know la – things happen and you forget heh…

Wait, emulsion comes after serum? I’m using the whitening range and I always thought emulsion comes after the skin refiner….oh noeesss

I’m not sure about the whitening range, or other ranges, but for this one, yes. I was very surprised myself too when they told us!
