I was testing out some samples of the new Rene Furterer Myrrhea hair care range recently. The Myrrhea range is tailored for those with frizzy rebellious hair as it helps smoothen frizz and keep it looking sleek.
I have frizzy hair! Dry and frizzy no less. When I have my hair cut short, I have a “mushroom head”. So its quite a perfect time to try a product that claims to de-frizz.
Myrrhea is derived from Myrrh. If you are familiar with stories from the Bible, you will recognize Myrrh as one of the gifts brought by the 3 wise men. Its a very expensive item and I never knew what it really was – do you?
Myrrh is actually a resinous dried sap from a tree. It smells musky and is used in incense. So, as you might expect, the Myrrhea hair products have a musky, I’d say rather masculine smell that you might like, or you might not.
Smells aside, defrizz my hair it did. Within just 2 days.
The Myrrhea shampoo does not lather up a lot so if you aren’t used to shampoos that do not lather, you might find this quite unnerving. Fact is that it cleans my hair and scalp, but it just does not lather much. My hair feels a little squeaky after washing out the shampoo which I find a little odd for a silkening shampoo.
The Myrrhea Silkening Conditioner is on the other hand, a little thick and you don’t need a lot to really intensively condition your hair. I use it as I do all conditioners. Leave it in for a few minutes and then wash it out.
Just using these 2 products, after 2 days, I found that my hair had lost its frizzy look and actually felt and looked a lot smoother. I didn’t have those bits of errant hair sticking out where they shouldn’t. Thats when I ran into a little problem.
