I attended an event recently for an eye product. Regular readers will know that I don’t use any (I know it flies in the face of all beauty blogging logic, but I don’t!) but I always receive questions about eye products. So really, this one was for all of you! 😀
I also picked this as it was for the L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Eye Serum, and this is a brand that is easily available and relatively affordable. We all want and need affordable products these days, I know.
While I take it for a little whirl, here’s a little more info on it, if you’re thinking about getting an eye product this weekend.
L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Eye Serum
Eye serums aren’t a new invention. There are a few brands that already have them (La Mer and Estee Lauder come to mind), but they are from the luxury side of things. As much as I love luxury products, I am conscious that sometimes, we have to be practical. If a more affordable beauty product works as well as that from a luxury brand, then why not use a more affordable product right?
The key ingredient in the L’Oreal Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Eye Serum is, you guessed it, Hyaluronic Acid. It is further supported by Niacinamide and Caffeine, the latter of which has been used often in eye products for de-puffing properties.
The eye serum contains 2.5% pure Hyaluronic Acid which has now become a household word, and is in everything. Hyaluronic Acid is a molecule that attracts hydration/water in skin and binds it, so it helps skin retain moisture. Products with hyaluronic acid are intended to keep skin hydrated, firm and plumped.
Caffeine is an ingredient commonly used in eye products, because it serves to reduce puffiness by boosting blood circulation and temporarily constricting blood vessels.
Niacinamide is another ingredient having its day in the sun. It is proven to brighten skin and reduce hyperpigmentation.
The skin around the eye is thinner than the other parts of the body, so the eye serum goes to work more quickly, and the results are smoother, more plumped skin around the eyes, that is brighter and less puffy. All sounding pretty good to me! 🙂
The other interesting thing about the L’Oreal Revitalift Hyaluronic Acid Eye Serum is that it comes in a bottle, with an applicator attached to the cap. This applicator has 3 stainless steel cool balls that are bendable, allowing it to fit to the contours of the eye area, and giving it a little massage. I’ll have better photos later, but you can see the 3 metal balls just behind the label in the bottle above.
While I was initially a little put off by the thought of using it on my skin, and then returning it to the bottle, it struck me that we do that with lipglosses all the time, and our lips aren’t any cleaner than our eye area. That said, I wouldn’t share this with anyone else, just use it for yourself.
While this is called an ‘eye serum’ which implies that it goes under an eye cream, there is no recommendation by L’Oreal to use any other eye cream over the product. You can use it on its own, and it seems to absorb quite quickly into the skin.
I’ll have a go at it and see how it fares for me before reporting back! If you’ve already tried it, let me know how you like it! 🙂
